fix the goddamn wifi! I can’t believe how slow it is, if it’s online in the first place.

If you’re a drunken foreigner, this is a good spot to smoke cigarettes. Also, there’s a great view of the shell gas station and constant ambulances zooming past.

Good: –proximity to Van Ness, Whole Foods, Upper Polk — some rooms are renovated with all new furniture — easy online booking Not so good –DSL and wifi have been slow to non existent recently — beds are super hard — many small maintenence issues such throughout building(broken mailboxes, smoke detectors, etc.) -

I have stayed at both Vantaggio Suites at Cosmo and the Turk, and if Vantaggio Suites was still managing Cosmo, I would suggest staying there. Turk is an ok place to come if you are new to San Francisco and aren’t comfortable with getting an apartment using Craigslist. With that being said, this is not a chic hotel stay. You are in the city, and that is great for students and people like myself who have relocated and are looking for work. You get your room cleaned once weekly, and a very minimal breakfast is offered every day. Honestly, the croissants taste like cardboard and the bagels are very dry, after a few days I would not eat it but made my own breakfast. In each room there is a mini fridge, microwave, and TV. Each room has its own bathroom, it will depend if you are sharing it on how you booked your room(my husband and I booked a double, so we have the room and bathroom to ourselves.) You will have wireless internet and have cable television. My husband and I bought a pillow top for our beds to make them more comfortable, I would highly suggest this if you are staying a while. Bedding and towels are provided, but I would suggest getting your own as soon as possible as the towels are thin and the stains on the sheets can be disturbing. The place at Turk Street is kind of dirty. We washed our walls, and there was some good grime. Doing laundry can be a bit tricky as there are three washers, and three dryers for the whole building. Not only are these shared by the tenants, but also housekeeping, which means from 8:00 — 3:30 you will get an upset housekeeper telling you to laundry later. Also, these machines are worked over so hard that they break down, and it takes a few days for them to be up and running again. In the mean time, you have to share 1 – 2 washers/dryers depending on what is working. There is one kitchen with two ovens with stovetops, and you will have to share or wait your turn if you dare to cook. We cooked in the kitchen 3 or 4 times over a period of 4 months, I didn’t find it worth the hassle. However, if you are really wanting a cooked meal not in a microwave, you do have that option. Would I stay here again? Well, I think you can find better for the amount of money you spend a month, but, it is nice being near Hayes Valley. It’s a toss up.

Wait a second– there is something fishy goin’ on here!!! This Vantaggio property is not so great but a last minute place if you cannot get anything good. It is seriously over– priced, even by Vantaggio standards(which is saying a lot). Toshi, the manager here strikes one as being pleasant enough but he is very hostile and passive-aggressive and frankly, dangerous. I stayed here for two months and was deeply horrified. The rooms are smallish– even the«larger» ones. The furniture is better at Goodwill on Market and the beds are lumpy and tragic. They make you have house cleaning which is fine as the men that stay here are pretty gross. The women tend to be foreigners and LOUD. I see that The Turk as this Vantaggio was always called has done a little cleaning here on Unilocal.Interesting. I don’t loathe this company for its bad managers– Toshi is the exception and why I prefer not to ever return. I have witnessed and heard some scary stuff with long tenants. The Cosmo and the San Diego properties are also okay but way overpriced. Seriously, go to Craigslist. Oh — the breakfast. What is offered is inedible and I eat everything!!! The Wonder– like bread will make your stomach turn here and the coffee, the coffee is just not coffee. Danger– the neighborhood gets a little funky at night and not in the Tenderloin with the trannies kind of way. No, right around the corner, going towards the park is something spooky. Stay away.

i stayed there about 4 years ago. The room was clean and staff was very nice and helpful. The price is affordable. If you don’t want to pay hotel price but want to have something clean and good service. This place is a good choice. The location was OK just had to take bus to get around. But I guess it’s very typical in San Francisco. I wouldn’t mind staying again if I ever go back to San Francisco.
