Barely average — I ordered the paper dosa and the idli appetizer. The latter was pretty delicious but the dosa was extremely oily and tasted just okay. Service was pretty slow, which was surprising given that the restaurant was pretty empty at the time we dined. UPDATED: Down to 1 star. The owner of the restaurant sent a message requesting to remove the review to help ratings. Pretty uncomfortable and unprofessional.

Same great food as the Valencia Street location, but unfortunately without the fun, bustling atmosphere and attentive service. Still a welcome addition to the Marina for sure! I hope they get busier and hang in at this location, because what’s not to like about the wonderful vegetarian everythingness of the food! Always love the dosas and the sag paneer…

Heaven. The best thing that has ever happened in the history of things happening. The dosa is superb, and the sauces that accompany it are sublime. Unusual vegan Indian food. Everything I’ve tried since discovering them has been delicious and delightful. Quirky, but honest and clean. Casual and kind staff. Fair and realistic prices: two can eat dinner and be full for under $ 30. Love.

I order from Udupi via Grubhub and have never stepped foot in the restaurant. The food is always on time and hot. Udupi does have a slight quirk in that they are inconsistent with the sauces and sizes of the sauces they send with your order. So, if you were partial to one of them last time, it doesn’t mean you will receive the same sauce the next time you order the same dish. I guess it depends on what they have available. I can’t quite give this place 4 stars — it is a 3.5 in my opinion, because the food is at least a step above the typically mediocre Indian cuisine that you find in San Francisco and it is totally vegetarian or vegan. I find that most Indian restaurants specialize in meat dishes and their vegetable dishes are usually an after thought — but that is not true at Udupi. The variety at Udupi is impressive. I eat mostly vegan food and eat no meats except the occasional seafood, so this is probably why I am so pleased with Udupi. Currently, I am obsessed with the Paneer Makhani Curry, and it is one of the tastiest I’ve ever had. In fact, I’d like to try some of their other curries, but I never do, because I can’t stop eating the makhani! I have tried the Mysore Masala Dosa and Onion and Hot Chili Uthappam, which were quite nice, but I think I am more of a curry person. The samosas are standard but nice. I loved the Pongal as it is perfectly spiced. I have had the paratha and one or two of the other breads — they are ok, but be warned that they are quite greasy. I’m fighting a makhani craving right now, but for the sake of trying new things, I am ordering the«Special Veggie Curry» instead! And one last thought — if Udupi used organic ingredients, I’d have no problem bumping them up a star!

Not only is the food here delicious with large portions, the prices are also very easy on the wallet. Hope this place sticks around in the Marina. My friend and I came here after our run. We ordered the saag paneer and the spring vegetables dosa. We ordered an extra side and when the waiter saw that we could barely finish the food we have on the table, he asked if he still wanted the side and took it off our bill when we told him that we were stuffed. He also gave us free dessert. The saag paneer was a particular favorite. It’s full of flavor and plenty cubes of cheese. This will definitely be a regular spot for us after our runs. A well deserved treat :).

I’ve been here 4 times, and I believe the place has only been open for a month, which should indicate why I’m assigning it a 5 star rating. It’s certainly the only South Indian place in the Marina that I know of, and I think it’s one of the few in the City(including another Udupi Palace location in the Mission). The idlis and dosas here are excellent. I’ve had the regular Masala Dosa, the Mysore Rava Dosa, and the EPIC Paper Dosa among other dishes. All great. The sauces are da domb. I regular kill the pre-set portion of sambar on the steel plate, which requires that I order more each time I’m there. The trifecta of chutneys are also delicious. I constantly ask myself while eating, «Which delicious sauce should I dip my wonderful dosa morsel into next?» Dip. Eat. Repeat. I ordered take-out for the first time to see how it would fare. I had low hopes for dosas travelling well, but I was pleasantly surprised with out well it turned out! They don’t mess around when it comes to packaging: They separate all the dosas so as to reduce the the chances of getting soggy(my biggest concern prior to order). I did notice, however, that they only provide two sauces to accompany the dosas to-go: sambar and one chutney varietal. This is unfortunate. What’s more was that I felt that these to-go sauces were very watery as compared to those received in-house. Minor take-out issues aside, this place nevertheless deserves 5-stars in my view.

Shared the two foot dosa. Excellent sides of chutney with it. The service was really just awesome. Super friendly and making sure we were taken care of. Will be going back for sure.

Ok, it’s possible that I’ve been back 3 more times in just 2 weeks. Everything so good. I’ve had all kinds of dosa now, and they’ve all been great. The service is stellar, and quick. This place is my favorite.
