UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion

Compared to UCSF Parnassus campus, this place is a dream. The staff (nurses, assistants, techs) actually come by and check on patients… and of their own accord go out of their way to make sure the patient has everything they need. This sounds basic, but that DOES NOT happen at Parnassus.
Examples:
1) Making sure patient is bathed (patient was not bathed for weeks of stay at Parnassus and was bathed day they arrived at Zion)
2) Made sure that when patient’s special thickened drink was not included on menu that they ensured it would be and delivered it as needed in a timely fashion (never could even get anyone to check on us much less follow up on a service at Parnassus) 3) Changed patient’s soiled bedding and undergarments as needed (patient’s wife had to do this service at Parnassus).
…Need I say more? Well, ok I do. They also have decent coffee (Peets in Basement Café!) and a good Phở, Deli and Falafel places nearby. Starbucks is also one block away (down Divisidero). The only drawback is that they don’t have emergency care, so all urgent care must go to Parnassus first… ugh. I hear they are combining this staff with Parnassus when they will be moved over in next few months… so sad. I hope they keep the protocols and procedures this staff has (as opposed to the sucky lack of procedures that Parnassus has!)…enuf said!
