Anyways, had to write this for any fellow hardcore carnivores, this is a safe place to eat, don’t worry! Used this as a meetup spot during Superbowl City, ended up running late so my party was already waiting for me inside. Truthfully, I had zero intention of eating here. I really thought it was a super vegan/vegetarian ho-hum sort of place whose only shot available was of wheatgrass. But oh boy was I wrong. I won’t call it a FULL bar because selections are limited but you can get anything here — wine, beer, champagne, liquor. Prices for these were a tad inflated compared to normal alcohol markups, but if you’re paying $ 11 for an 8oz beer inside Superbowl City anyways, $ 11 for a mimosa is fair game. For some nom I ordered the mushroom and cheddar«burger». There were two choices for this — the Plant burger which I guess was made up of non-meat items, and then the turkey burger. I actually asked if they could do a beef one(ALWAYS worth a shot right? — you never know if you don’t ask!) and of course had to do the turkey burger. ITWASREALLYGOODTHOUGH!!! Perfectly cooked, the seasonings were great, and I didn’t even miss the beef. Well, maybe a teensy bit but not to the point that I couldn’t enjoy the turkey burger.

I love this place! It is cosy and the food is excellent. Try the hummus plate. It’s small and get’s busy so make sure you book ahead.

TL;DR: Presentation of the food was pretty. Expensive for just OK food. Service was good. It’s restaurant week! I’ve seen my friend post pictures and rave about The Plant so I decided to come here. It was actually pretty packed but not enough to create a wait at 12:30. Staff here is pretty nice but I was confused when I asked to place my order, the waiter walked away to tell another waiter who was busy at the register. Since it’s Restaurant week, I ordered whatever was on that menu. I had the Buttermilk Pan Fried Chicken Sandwich. I was happy because my chicken was in a heart shape. I felt the chicken was a little dry. My friend and I both thought it wasn’t very special. Also, the slaw wasn’t spicy(not that I’m complaining but just a heads up for people). I also got to try the Full Belly Salad. The roasted beets were sweet and I liked it. Without the Ginger Miso Dressing, this salad didn’t taste very good, so add that dressing! To end it, we got the Chocolate Chip Cookie with a scoop of caramel ice cream. My cookie had like 3 chocolate chips… disappointing. And that scoop of ice cream was smallll. Won’t be coming back

Was wandering around this area when I came across this lil vegan place. I was eating alone that afternoon — the waitress sat me RIGHTNEXTTO these 2 guys who didn’t stop talking about how much money they made. I was like LOL awesome. Anyway, it was SF restaurant week and they had either a chicken dish or a salad option with a desert. I chose the salad — it was okay and made me feel incredibly healthy but I then felt like I was forcing myself to finish it. The desert I was given was a chocolate chip cookie with caramel sauce and tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect portion for 1! However, I don’t know if it was a vegan cookie or what, I would never get it again. This place has fantastic potential — hopefully I just had bad choices LOL

My usual go to spot whenever I’m in the city and this location is my favorite. Their entire lunch menu is amazing, particularly the jalapeño cilantro wrap and the shiitake spring rolls. You guys should know by now how obsessed I am with beet salads. No exceptions here. If you’re ever by Embarcadero, make sure to visit Plant Café Organic. You won’t regret it.

Delicious Salad for Lunch! Organic and Healthy Food — Perfect for Vegetarians! I visited The Plant Café Organic on July 29th with my mother for a late afternoon lunch after touring Alcatraz for most of the day. I ordered the Full Belly Salad which was loaded with yummy ingredients like hummus, avocados, beets, quinoa, kale, carrots and cucumber. My salad tasted delicious! The restaurant served a variety of healthy, vegetarian and organic options. We sat on the upper level of the restaurant which had a wooden floor and tables. I enjoyed the casual, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The service was good and friendly as well. The location of the restaurant on the waterfront at the pier was perfect and I would recommend it to those looking for a healthy meal!

OMG, sitting on the patio is one of our favorite places for brunch. Watch the boats on the bay with a mimosa or a glass of their freshly pressed juices or a Blue Bottle coffee with some of their house made pastries or a Sambuzon bowl. You have two options here, one is down by the water, the second is above the kitchen and although cozy there’s not much to look at. Still it’s a great place to go if the other dining area is full. I love the organic and locally sourced menu, it can be VERY hard to choose. The boy loves the brioche french toast but the huevos rancheros are my fav, made with white beans cheddar, pico de gallo and avocado. NOM!

I’m confused why Unilocal didn’t separate this as these are actually 2 different venues! One venue has more upscale seating and the other is more of a café. Regardless. I think the food here is decent however you really need to know what to order! I definitely did not enjoy the turkey burger. it was ground turkey, which already sounds unappealing however since I’m gluten free it was one of the very few items I could order. My review is for the«café» not the«sit down traditional restaurant to the left» THEGOOD: The beet salad was pretty good although there was almost no feta on it! Also, the Gluten Free Tuscan Chicken Panini was AMAZING!!! –1 star: unknowledgeable cashier(regarding even what gluten free means) and lack of overall gluten free items on the lunch menu. I’m sure a good percentage of your customers are gluten free so why not make it more of a focus?

Rude rude rude. Went in around 2:20, place was not busy, 50% of the tables were still available. I was told that there was a 45 minute to an hour wait. Then, I went outside, made a reservation through the Unilocal app at for 2:30(within 1 minute of being told of the wait), and all of a sudden, I got«oh you didn’t say you had a reservation» and was seated right away.

My favorite thing about this place: the view. I always make sure to request outdoor seating along the bay for an incredible view during your weekend brunch. That being said, the food is average and quite disappointing. The benedicts I’ve had were a bit lackluster. The smocked salmon Benedict had a weird texture because the salmon itself was cooked, which dried it out and left it a bit flaky. The hollandaise seemed watered down and overall it was bland with a fishy taste. Especially for the price(~$ 16), I expected much better than this. I also got the acai smoothie which had an interesting grainy texture – not necessarily in a good way either. The saving grace during this brunch was actually the veggie burger that someone at the table ordered. Honestly, it’s one of the best I’ve ever had(the patty is flavorful with a nice texture) so if you get anything, lean towards the veggie burger and stay away from the Benedict.

I’ve recently been more open to trying places that offer a variety of healthy meal options. Fortunately, The Plant Café Organic has a wide variety of food to choose from in a casual, informal atmosphere. They also offer smoothies, teas, salads and some raw foods as well. When you first enter, you can choose from their extensive menu while you are waiting in line to order. On your way to the cash register, they have a display of cookies, cakes, and other vegan and non-vegan desserts to tempt you. You place your order at the cash register, get a number, and then pick your utensils, your table, and wait. They will deliver the food to you. My personal favorite is the Plant Burger, which is vegan, delicious and surprisingly filling. I’ve had non-vegans taste it and they said they liked it too. It’s not a meat burger, of course, but delicious in it’s own right. For dessert, I tried their Raspberry-Cashew cheesecake. It was so good, and this is coming from a cheesecake fanatic! Anyway, if you’re in the neighborhood and like healthy options, check it out. Hope you like it!

I met up with two friends in the early evening before heading to an event together. From the moment we walked in, the waiter was blatantly concerned that we were walk-ins and whether or not we would collide with the reservations that others had made, even though the restaurant was completely empty at 5pm. That was not so welcoming. Nevertheless, we were seated immediately. My friend recommended this place because it appeals to all dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. That’s great, except for the fact that I fall into none of those categories. I ordered the Cobb Salad with Shrimp, which was okay. I was expecting more from this Cobb Salad in terms of quality of ingredients and flavor, but I do like that they offer salads in small and large portions. The wait staff was generally friendly and professional. We had a seamless dining experience here as we enjoyed the aethestic of the restaurant. Though the food did not stand out to me, I’m glad we were able to have a nice, normal dinner along Embarcadero.

Came here for a work event and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. It’s right on the water which is fantastic and the patio is huge. Unfortunately I want entirely impressed with the food. My caipirinhas were awesome though and the desserts were delicious.

Really nice place by the bay. I went here for happy hour before the night life at the exploratorium to pregame and I only needed one drink! The drinks are very tasty and the Filipino bartender is like a free tour guide. Ask him anything and he’ll tell you where and where not to go! Parking is directly across the street and after a good buzz you can walk out and your on the embarcadero. Nice organic ambiance, and a lot of healthy food and refreshing drinks on the menu. I didn’t try any of the food but as I could see al lot people ordered bar/tapas. This place is not to upscale like the other bars next to it so don’t worry about blowing underdressed. Good vibes and I’ll def check it out again if I’m waking by.

This place was very accommodating to me bringing my dog. Typically I don’t bring a dog to eat with me but she had been sick so I wanted her with me. This restaurant has an excellent view and outdoor seating. Everyone that worked here was very friendly and even brought my dog a bowl of water. I would love to give five stars to this place but their menu does need a little help. Their brunch menu looked delicious. However, the ferry was only taking 20 people at a time when their was a huge line of people waiting so we missed our reservation for brunch and made their lunch menu. I was really craving small plates as well as seafood but their options were limited to burgers, sandwiches and pizza. I was disappointed not to see oysters, spring rolls, or their cheese plate on their menu. They offer gluten free pizza which was nice but the pizza needed a bit more toppings and less sauce. If the menu improved beyond their brunch menu I would give this place five stars!

I became an instant fan of this location of The Plant Café after I had brunch here with a few friends and got tabled at their patio which has with a perfect view of the bay. Basically, there are two sections to this location. One is the full service restaurant and the other is the small café with grab and go items and has tables outside as well. For brunch, this was where I had the Wasabi Plant Burger for the first time, and to this day has been my favorite veggie burger in the city. Wasabi Plant Burger – Plant Burger patty made in-house from lentils, mushrooms, beets, cashews & bulgur wheat, topped with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, wasabi raspberry aioli, sauerkraut, pickled radish, Acme sourdough bun The Wasabi Plant Burger is pretty much the Plant Burger taken up a notch with the wasabi kick added to it. Very flavorful and surprisingly filling. It always cracks me up how when you cut through it, the beets gives the burger that ‘medium rare’ look. It came with roasted potatoes and a small salad. Probably the best bang for your buck meal you can have at Plant Café. I usually stop by the Café side to pick up a one of their juices or to get a caffeine fix, which they conveniently serve Blue Bottle Coffee. So if you want to avoid the lines at the Ferry Building for some Blue Bottle, this is a good spot to get some. Two of my favorites juices are the Green Basic with kale, parsley, celery, apple, lemon and the Healthy Sunrise with carrot, beet, orange, apple, lemon. Both are really refreshing and invigorating! The Embarcadero Plant Café is a really great spot and is probably my favorite location of all the Plant Cafes in the Bay Area. The nice view of the bay really makes this location trump the rest of them.

Absolutely lovely! This place has an outdoor seating area that provides a terrific view of the bay. They have good outdoor heaters above each table so you will be warm even when it’s foggy and cold. They have a great menu with lots of vegan and vegetarian options. The food was worth 3 star review but the view and ambiance put it into a 4 star. The chef’s plate was all vegan — portion was definitely smaller than the burger or chicken dish but it was overall satisfying. I don’t think the plate would be enough if I were really hungry. Also the soup was cold. I’m not sure whether it’s because it’s raw or whatnot. Nonetheless, I’d come back and eat the plant burger made with ACME bread next time! They also have good drinks, both classic and creative cocktails. I really like the concept of the restaurant with all organic produces from local area.

I was stoked to go to The Plant after hearing amazing things about it. I love to try vegan burgers and The Plant’s looked amazing. I had The Plant burger with whole wheat sourdough. I have to knock down one star because I asked the server the difference between the breads and he just said«Oh that one is just whiter». I wanted a bun and assumed they were all buns with his explanation, as we were speaking of a burger and as the«only difference was the color». The patty was good, as well as the grilled onions served with it, but I was super disappointed to get plain sandwich bread with it. To me, it was no longer«a burger» but a sandwich :-( It was cool to be able to eat outside. We were served in like 5 minutes around 1:45 on a Sunday. I’ll go back and hopefully have another server inform me better on the menu items served.

Group lunch after a team building day at the Exploratorium. Easy group seating. Many healthy options on the menu. Great for a mix crowd of vegetarians and those who are GF. Service was just 2 stars. Slow and impersonal. A server dropped a tray of glasses right next to our table. Broken pieces flying everyone. Mixed reviews about the food. But I enjoyed my salmon dish. Simple but fresh and healthy. Crispy skin was a nice touch. The hummus platter was really good. Fresh and light with warm pita bread. Just barely hitting that’s A-OK. Won’t be running back for a return visit any time soon.
