This place is very near our work And there are a few on our team, myself included, who like to hang out here. Last night we ordered the burger cooked medium. What we got was burned on the outside and rare on the inside. If you order food, it can be good but the quality to price ratio rarely meet.

This place has some good food. The sauces are outstanding for the few meals we had – meatballs and scallops. Also great desserts. The goat cheese cheesecake was excellent. I wish they would have had Persian rice, but I recognize that is hard to make correctly. But they should try.

This place doesn’t even have 1 Persian dish. It’s got traces of Mediterranean food but it’s not Persian as they advertise it. It’s a nice restaurant but the food isn’t great. It’s average at best.

Stopped by before the Giants game. About halfway stop between Montgomery St Bart and AT&T. They have a happy M-F $ 5 well, wine and beer. No happy hour food but they have food. Trying the iron steak kebab. Very tasty. Has that Persian Mediterranean flare with beef, herbs and lavash. Bartender remembered me from last week. Nice find! Stop by when you ate in the area, 2nd and Folsom.

Most of the entrees here are lamb options, so don’t come here if you don’t like lamb I guess. I do enjoy lamb usually, but the braised lamb I ordered here was so underwhelming that I could not eat much of it. That’s just me though; my friend ordered the same thing and ate it all. We wanted to see the dessert menu, but unfortunately no one was interested in the options(many of which were a bit odd). Service was slow/barely present, but they were patient with us while we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. Ambience was nice. That might be the only thing I would recommend. Had a dinner with our business partners. Overall, the food was very high quality and the service was top notch. We ordered vegetarian appetizers for our vegetarian guest, which was as good as vegetarians appetizers get(I prefer something less healthy, but heck, I’m a Bay Area guy now). My main course was a braised lamb«abgoosht». Five star, nicely plated and perfectly balanced with lamb shank, beans and stew. True star of the night for me. The only disappointment was the citrus sorbet dessert, which had dried noodles in it and I found it off putting(trying to get a little too creative. I appreciate daring, but this missed the mark. Bad combo.) I think I just chose poorly since the other desserts looked amazing. Ambiance was dimly lit in a warm romantic sort of way… good for conversation for a table of 5. Overall, I think it’s a 4 star generally(maybe 5 for Persian), but might not go back on my own dime(given it was somewhat pricey, but understand why). Would come back for more a business dinner and would recommend it for others as «strong Persian with great lamb and detailed western nouveau presentation.»

We were a group of 8 people celebrating our bachelorette. The owner was very polite and friendly and tok a few moment to explain the history behind the restaurant and some of the dishes. The place has a good vibe with warm ambiance. everybody loved their food. Appetizers: roasted eggplant, sautéed cauliflower, french fries… They all were delicious and very tasty The French fries are SUPERGOOD(crispy and fresh) I had pomegranate daiquiri, which very refreshing and balanced in taste! All ladies were happy with their drinks as well. For main dish: we had sheet steak(recommend it highly, the meat was so tender that it melted on my tongue), lam burger(everyone loved it), vegetarian dish, rack of lam. Try their cucumber yogurt on their dessert menue, what a refreshing, light. Yet delicious dish. Portions were bigger then we expected, so you can share if you like. The price is good considering quality of food, drink and service you get! We had an wonderful evening there and all ladies enjoyed their food and drink and each other’s company! Keep it up The Fly Trap!!! you for sure trapped our interest!!!

Came here with high expectations and left absolutely disappointed! Ambience: Perfect. Pistachio Meatballs: Flavorful and Tasty Braised Lamb«Abgoosht: «Far from a real Abgoosht!» it was basically a lamb shank in a tasteless watery tomato sauce with some undercooked green beens! Poached Apple: Aside from the beautifull look, the dessert was horrible. the apple was frozen and watery topped with icy iicecream

The drinks/cocktails were amazing! We might just go there again for them. The food was on expensive side. The food was good. It wasn’t something that blew our mind hence i would rate 4⁄5.

I only came because my bf’s Persian friend recommended this spot for great Persian food. I’ve walked by this place countless times on the way to/from the ballpark and to my friend’s office and was always curious but it just looked like another ‘fancy’ place so I didn’t pay too much attention to it. Yes, the prices are, in fact, slightly pricey, but not ridiculous. or do I just have SF goggles now? Entrees ranged around $ 20 – 35 which isn’t that bad. right. The food is executed well, the service is stellar, the interior is beautiful, and the ambiance is quite intimate and dark. Cocktails are about $ 12, and stiff. Good stuff! The friend raved about the pistachio meatballs — so of course, that was a must-order. $ 10 for 3 mid-sized pieces. but it really was one of the best meatballs I’ve had! So tender and juicy and the harissa and pomegranate sauce gave it a lot of oomph. We also got the rack of lamb, $ 36 for 4 chops — and it was executed perfectly. They left some fat on it which only elevated the flavor and texture. SO. GOOD. Must get. I must be super Asian because all that meat juice and sauce would have paired so well with rice… Can’t wait to return to try other other dishes as the couple we had were executed so well!

Our first time here and we were very happy with the food, wine and service. First, we arrived in a staggered way, due to notorious parking issues in SF. The service did not bother or hover around us while we waited for our full party to show up. Meatballs, naan bread with spread and eggplant, bone marrow were all fantastic in presentation and taste. Good portions for appetizer. Lamb chops and beef cheek for entrée was great. Beef cheek was especially succulent and flavorful. Goat cheese dessert was delicious. Baklava was ok.

Terrific food. Great ambiance. Stellar service. The servers were so personable and really took time to make recommendations based on our preferences. Wonderful signature drinks! I went with my daughter and her boyfriend. Not many places appeal to 2 generations the way The Fly Trap does. We all loved it! Oh and free street parking at 2nd and Folsom was very easy to find at dinner time which was a bonus. — - — - — - — - –One tip for The Fly Trap management responsible for your Unilocal presence … CHANGEYOURPROFILEPHOTO! Before you click on it, in close-up whatever that food item is looks like the eyes of a sweaty, nasty, oily fly. That photo is unappetizing for a restaurant of any kind, especially one as good as yours! Evokes that image because«Fly» is in your name. (I’m not even going to ask how you chose the name!) So in summary: Don’t look at the horrible profile photo. Do go there and eat their outstanding food served by lovely people in a great atmosphere.

Authentic Persian style flavors with a modern twist. Multi course affair with incredible service in optimal ambiance and setting. Very impressed overall. So for starters we ordered the avacado dinner it had blood orange over arugula with cashews and a great sauce. Following our salad we ordered kashko bademjoon a Persian style eggplant dish with kashk(Iranian sauce) We decided to order Abgoosht with a side of cauliflowers and also ordered cinnamon braised beef shank which the beef texture was so superb and tender that I recommend it highly. And for dessert we ordered the faloode which is a Persian style citrus sorbet. Overall 20⁄20 absolutely delightful and memorable experience.

Expectations were sky high for this stop. The staff was excellent and friendly. The sheer number of people there gave me hope, then the food showed up. Very bland. I was not looking for anything HOT, just tasty. We tried hummous, lamb and several dishes in the hope that we may have just ordered wrong, but this was food designed for the blandest palate. If those folks exist then they should enjoy the quality of the food which was very good. The flavors are what was missing. After eating in several Persian restaurants I know not to expect the spices of Lebanese or even Israeli food but something to bring this up in the flavor category. They even brought a spicy sauce that did nothing to bring up the taste quotient. Even the house pickles were just vinegary with no enhancement.

WASITCROWDED? Reservation was needed on a Tuesday night for a large group, but I saw plenty of open tables for smaller groups when we sat down. AMBIANCE Dim lights with some Mediterranean flair. Restaurant was really loud despite the fact that there was no rowdy crowd. Shouting was almost necessary with a group of more than 4. SERVICE Friendly and fast. We had a reservation for 8 people… but another 7 decided to join us last minute! They were nice enough to move a group of people they knew to a smaller table to accommodate the extra people who decided to tag along with us from happy hour. SPEED Appetizers and drinks came out really quickly but the entrees took a good 30 minutes to hit our table. THEGOODFOOD — Beef Cheek was AMAZING. Meat was so tender it fell apart without a knife and melted in my mouth like butterrrr. The mash on the side was perfect. Pickled cauliflower that came with the dish was a little too acidic for my taste. — Pistachio Meatballs — This was a crowd favorite! Didn’t really taste the pistachio though. — Trio of hummus — The roasted squash hummus was by far my favorite. Wish I could have had my own bowl of it! THEBADFOOD — Roasted eggplant — Tasted like lukewarm baba ganoush. Not my favorite. I think it needed more texture.

This place is great! I loved the decoration. It’s like an old English gentleman’s quarters. The food is great(I got the stacked lamb, or something like that, and oddly the best part of my dish were the caramelized carrots! I loved them!!! I was amazed of how good carrots can taste!) Besides carrots, the food is good overall. Our waitress was awesome, she was lovely, thoughtful and made great recommendations. I wouldn’t recommend the Sherry. I order the«Gitana» and got really disappointing, it tasted like alcohol strait from the first aid kit! The goat cheesecake is also very good. Even if you are not a fan of goat cheese, it doesn’t have a strong«gouty» flavor. As they open til late, it’s a great place to grab a late dinner after a ybca performance.

I was happy that I got a reservation on the same day and when I arrived the table was ready for us and the hostess was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the abghoost which was loaded with flavor and amazingly tender meat. Unfortunately the chickpeas and green beans were not cooked fully and on the firm side but still edible. I ordered the steak kabob for my daughter because it looked like it was the most simple dish(she’s 4). I cut it up for her and she tried it and said it tasted burnt. I didn’t believe her and kept telling her to eat her dinner. Finally I tried it and the outer layer had such a bad char/burnt flavor it was inedible. I told the waitress and she said the dish is like that bc of the sumac and didn’t offer any replacement or discount. Sadly we couldn’t eat it and we normally love sumac especially my daughter so I don’t think it was that. My cousins risotto was not fully cooked either. And my sisters salmon was on the fishy side. My mom and aunt liked their chicken dish. Ambience: loud, conversational and good for kids because they don’t need to be super quiet but unfortunately no changing table in restroom.

While looking at my photo album, I can’t seem to remember the pictures I took for this restaurant. This goes to show that either I’m forgetful or this place was exceptionally not memorable. We ordered: — Pistachio Meatballs = with red harissa, honey, and pomegranate. The flavoring was a little odd because it was too citrusy(weird, b/c I do like citrus & tangy flavors). — Pan Roasted Cod = with red quinoa, roasted fennel, endive, grapefruit, arugula, tamarind, herbs, turmeric, and saffron. The cod was cooked perfectly, but the seasoning was lackluster. — Braised Lamb«Abgoosht» = with pulled lamb shank stew, potato, chickpeas, turmeric, preserved lime, lavash and torshi. It was hearty and good. — Goat Cheesecake = with candied almond and eggplant jam. I had better goat cheesecake elsewhere. Solely disappointed on this dessert, since the server raved about it… Overall, the food was mediocre at most for a steep price. The service was friendly and wonderful. The crowd was loud and noisy, oddly for an early weeknight dinner.

Came here last night for an early dinner. There were plenty of seats and we did make a reservation in advance. The bar looked a bit packed, so I guess they are pretty popular for happy hour. For appetizers, we started with the the chicken stuffed meatball with lavash bread and the surf and turf appetizer(pork belly, gulf spot prawns and calamari). Both were good for sharing. The chicken stuffed meatball was just ok to me. It was a lot bread-ier than expected and I wanted the meatball to be meatier lol. The surf and turf was interesting. I believe the head chef came out and presented this to us and told us an interesting fact about how the prawns are male when they are young and then they are female when they are older. #themoreyouknow For my entrée, I went with the cinnamon braised beef cheeks. It was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed every bite! For dessert, we did share the baklava which was a great end to the meal. I’d highly recommend this place for small bites and drinks. The drinks were really well balanced.
