Came here for a late nite dessert and was pleasantly surprised with pretty much everything. The décor is pretty cool and definitely fits the tea house atmosphere… maybe even a little too tea-housy, but definitely a quaint, homely environment. We had the peach tea and it was very flavorful and light without any sugar or any additives – definitely a pleasant surprise and prelude to the main«course.» For the main dessert, we had the mango, durian, and chocolate/raspberry soufflés between the three of us and all were spot on. The soufflés are freshly made, so it will take a little while, but it is totally worth the wait. They are made perfectly(to my liking, at least), and not overly sweet or sugary. As for the rest of the food, I can’t vouch for any of it, but this place isn’t called Soufflé Café for nothing… so as they say… when in Rome… Happy Eating!

Late night dessert place that will satisfy your midnight munchies. This place is cash only so come prepared. Their soufflé are pretty good… soft and freshly made to order, and not super sweet. I liked the strawberry soufflé and the purple yam soufflé. The tea selection is pretty good too if you’re in the mood for some hot tea. The service here is almost nonexistent. You definitely have to flag people down to get their attention.

It’s Friday night! I’m hungry and 40 mins later my food still not here. Needless to explain, I order ramen… It’s pre made. I understand the soufflé takes 35min… I almost got up and leave. Food finally came 1hr after ordering… We spend $ 55 for two people for instance noodles and a mushy cake. We wanted to leave asap since its been 2 hrs… We ask her to bring the check, she said be right there… 10 mins later… No check… Chit chat with other table… I had to stand up and walk out before she get us the check… That concluded our Friday night as it’s midnight already…

Cute establishment! Could be nicer but overall, delicious tea and souffles! We ordered the vanilla bean and white chocolate soufflé… both were nice, warm and fluffy delightfulness! Tea was excellent! Forgot the exact name but one was decaff Roobois with vanilla and nut and the other was early grey with toffee… i loved the Roobois more because it was smooth & creamy. We ordered the 2 teas &2 dessert soufflé for 43 $, I believe? I also ordered a green matcha crème brûlée. not a lot of green tea flavor but good nonetheless… Beware, they only accept cash, but they do have an ATM in case u need it.

food: lychee sago. it was just sweet enough. seems like they use the syrup from the can. not a bad thing, but the fruits dont taste fresh. i tried the soufflé too. came out hot and fluffy. it takes a while to come out. it’s on the sweeter side for the chocolate. ***3/5 service:i came here a few years ago and it was completely different. it’s very english now, but not the traditional way. it wants to be a fancy tea time, but some items clashed. not a bad thing. good to be unique in your own way. it’s a cute place. quiet since we with only one other table. it was hard to find somebody when youre in need, but they pop out once in a while to check the service. ***3/5 value: the food isnt too bad and the prices arent too crazy. i cant gauge it since i dont live in the area anymore. the sago i had was just right along with a drink. ***3/5

It’s a fun place with campy décor but what got me in the door were the varied flavoured soufflés on the menu. Plus, this place is open till 1 am or so and on a Sunday night with a sweet tooth craving after 11pm, I had to check it out. Understand that if you want the soufflé, you’ll need to order right away as each one takes approximately 30 minutes to make. That’s ok though, as it has a full menu of soup, sandwiches and varied comestibles at very reasonable prices. The other really neat thing is that the establishment offers a formal tea service, something I’ll try later(when I’m not feeling Mr. Sandman nipping at my ears). Cash Only.

4 stars for the soufflé but would give the place a 3 star review for the service. I came here about twice now and we ordered a Vanilla Soufflé, Strawberry soufflé, and Mango pudding. The vanilla soufflé was delicious! The crust is perfectly crisp and golden brown. The inside melts in your mouth and tastes like a crème brûlée/vanilla pudding. Remember to pour the vanilla syrup over the soufflé! The strawberry soufflé was alright. A little too tangy in my opinion. But you can definitely tell they use a generous amount of strawberries in the batter. I probably wouldn’t order it again but that’s just my taste buds. The mango pudding was rich in mango flavor due to the generous amounts of mango they use. Service is the typical type of service you would find at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Not very attentive and you’ll have to flag them down to order. They do charge for a togo container along with other unnecessary charges. Will definitely come back again to try out other flavors they provide!

A solid 3.5. I don’t really get the negative reviews for this place! It’s cutely decorated, with lots of tea sets and hats and bonnets! There’s a very Victorian feel to the place, similar to England Rose Garden in Newark! The place has an extensive menu from different types of tea(fruit, black, green white) to various Asian desserts to food(sushi, Chinese food, etc.) to its most famous soufflés! On the Saturday Super Bowl City reached max capacity, we stumbled upon this place after watching the Warriors game at a nearby bar and were pleasantly surprised to see it open at 9pm(till 2am according to Unilocal!). The place was still pretty packed, and had reservation placards on some tables. We were seated immediately and served water in plastic goblets. We only ordered soufflés so that’s all I have to go on. I chose the Victorian soufflé which had the description of rose, vanilla and chocolate flavors, while my friend had the green tea(matcha) soufflé. Both were $ 11.95. Waitress was pretty nice and friendly. Btw, if you want the bathroom, ask for the key! The menu warned the soufflés would be dine-in only(obviously) and around a 30-minute. Despite the restaurant having people, it wasn’t crowded. However, our soufflés took way longer than 30 minutes. Both had lovely presentation with a small pot of crème anglaise and powdered sugar sprinkled over the entire plate. My Victorian soufflé did not have chocolate in it, and didn’t seem as ‘full’ as my friend’s matcha one when I dug in. It seemed too airy without much substance. However, it was still delicious! It was definitely very rosy, so if you like rosewater flavors, you’d like this! My friend’s matcha one, while good, was surprisingly sweeter than mine. I believe it was to compensate for any bitterness the matcha might have. However, it was a tad overwhelming for us, that she didn’t even need to use her crème anglaise. Really cute place overall, and I will be back!

My cousin and I arrive at 9:09pm, ordered at 9:15, food didn’t come until 9:50, it wasn’t busy, with 2 other couples ahead of us. This is the longest we have EVERWAITED! Also, there was a dog, in the back room, not sure if it’s a customers or the owners but this Chinese lady with broken English kept wanting to play with the dog and opening the door trying to peek at it which the dog did not like it and kept barking. What made it worst was owner didn’t tell Chinese lady to stop! That’s for the 4 stars. But boy!, food is still delicious as ever! We order a lot, and coconut Soufflé(I hate coconut!) and OMG I LOVEIT! It’s so smooth and tasty and soft! So I guess it was worth the wait. I’m also sad to hear that they’ll be moving in April, however I will hunt you down. Of course they’ll update us loyal customers.

This is the kind of dessert place you’d expect in the Sunset, but I’m sorry to say you might get disappointed with a few things. My biggest issues with this place were cleaniness, sweetness and presentation. This place is as clean as any other restaurant in Chinatown. I kid you not. You’d get sticky tables, a dirty bathroom, and maybe MAYBE slightly dirty dishes. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when I walked in to be invited by the pretty princess, high tea-like interior of the place, only to sit down on a sticky table. The menu was pretty extensive, but my biggest issue with that is that they updated the prices by just putting correction tape and writing it over. I’m sure with a place that sells souffles at like $ 10 a pop, that they could afford a new set of menus. There were some restrictions with some items and they do let you know that souffles will take a while, which is pretty fair. The place itself is pretty small, like smaller than Lovejoy’s for those who like high tea. There isn’t that much room between tables for walking, so if you are the type to lug a big purse around, do be careful. The chairs and tables are very cute and matches the theme of high tea. Makes you feel fancy and like a princess. I never tried the food food, but let’s talk about the souffles. I must say that I was quite impressed with the presentation of the souffles, but I am sorry to say that I found the strawberry one TOOSWEET. Like almost sickly sweet. Sorry to the guy who makes them. I am not sensitive to sugar, but I don’t want to have a dessert that makes me want to brush my teeth right away. I actually had to eat the strawberry soufflé with my durian soufflé to balance out the sweetness. The durian lover soufflé was FANTASTIC! I’d definitely go back for that. Not too sweet, you can definitely take the durian because he puts little pieces of durian in there. The Durian Ice Cream sundae was totally the best thing I ever had in the place, I just wish he put durian ice cream instead of vanilla. I know durian ice cream can be expensive, but it can’t be a durian ice cream sundae without durian ice cream. I’m not sure why when my friends and I came here, the guy didn’t light the candle and put on the soothing jazz music, but when two more groups came in, he didn’t hestitate to put on the music and candlelight. I mean I could have lived without it, but this was my first time trying this place and I thought hosts would treat other customers the same. Maybe we caught him on an OFF day? I love how they open pretty late, so I’d definitely come back if I have like late night munchies. Do bring cash because no credit cards are accepted. This place can be pricy, so be aware of that!

Their sign said open at 3:30 but they weren’t ready til 3:50ish. I’ve been wanting to go since they’ve been open but haven’t had the time since its desserts and doesn’t open til afternoon time and it’s hard to find parking in Chinatown(but they do offer 1.5hr parking at a nearby parking lot if u spend $ 25 or more or 10% off next purchase some amount) The outside may look a little ‘plain’ but the insides are super cute with the Victorian look. The only thing i didn’t like was that the fabrics from the sofas had this old dirty/grandma smell to it. AND there were a 15% gratitude fee(18% for a party of 6 or more) that i did not expect since i was there by myself :/But i used a coupon from so it wasn’t too bad.

My sister and I called to have the Green tea Soufflé and egg puff ready before heading there since the soufflé takes about 30 mins until ready. When we got there to pay, I expected the outcome of the cost wouldn’t be that pricey. Total for the 2 items was $ 18.50. I looked back on the menu from the pictures here, I calculated and came out to be around $ 16. I don’t know what the hidden cost was. If you are planning to get some good and affordable desserts, I’d suggest you to head on over to the Sunset district!(Noriega– Golden Island, Irving– ETC café)

When did this place morph into a Victorian tearoom? A little weird, but okay. Desserts are still very good– typical HK style stuff(fruit sago this and that, and of course the souffles), which oddly enough is still not easy to find in Chinatown.

Where do I begin.. I pass by this place once a week for the pass IDK how long! and it’s always closed! You guys know the phrase– don’t judge a book by it’s cover? Well I did. I thought it was some run down whack place, because all I ever see is newspapers covered on the window, never open, old banners and such. LIKEOMFG! Someone please slap me! I googled and Unilocaled(of course), and i see these deliciousness and cuteness and comfort of a place, I told myself I HAVETOCOME! I LOVE vintage décor and the color pink, purple, red, fuchsia, white, hats, candles, pretty teacups, antique sofas, EVERYTHINGABOUTITSCREAMS– This is your dream home! I finally got a chance and free time to come in and eat. Once I walked in, I feel in LOVE! The waitress(I think she’s one of the owners), she’s so cute and nice, extremely patient. Food came in no time, I didn’t mind waiting for the soufflé(BABYIT’S WORTHIT!) AND I SAW A CUTEGUY! It’s really chill, really comfortable, it gets quite busy like tonight and they kept it coolz. The only NOT cool thing about tonight was there was some rude customers, being bossy like they own the mofo place, like understand there are ppl who came BEFOREYOU! and have ORDERED before you, so of course food comes in the order it’s taken. And it’s rude to shout at the waitress your order before she could even get to your table. She’s only human! Other then that, food is great, location is great, parking isn’t that hard to find since there are 2 parking lots close by and street parking is a bit hard considering it’s in chinatown. I can’t wait to come back! My cousin and I made a vow to come back once a week or every other week and will be bringing friends!

A hidden gem in Chinatown! They specialize in Asian style souffles so think red bean or green tea flavored dessert puffs! I was craving mango the night I came so I opted for the mango sago(pretty delicious), but will definitely be back to try their famous souffles. Interior is super cute and creative but in kind of a quirky almost creepy way haha. Lots of dolls and tea sets everywhere. Definitely felt like I was having a tea party. Price is a little on the high side. I think the souffles went for around $ 11 so will have to come back and see if it’s worth it!

Not open on Mondays. My family and I really like this place, especially the kids. Their menu is extensive, and we always order the soufflés upon arrival, as it takes at least 15 minutes to make. Every time we come here, there’s a guy and a gal. They’re meek and hardworking, extremely attentive. We love the ambiance, it’s charming. I tend to forget we’re in Chinatown along the busiest streets of Powell/Broadway with sirens going off from the nearby Firehouse. No matter what time of day, we order a pot of tea to relax. Last time, we went all out and ordered two bowls of tangyuan, sweet hot tofu, red bean drink, shrimp chowmein(omg, fresh & tasty), chicken wings, eggettes, tea sandwiches, and milk tea. I’m craving a purple yam soufflé as I type this. I will go back tomorrow after dim sum and before Brenda’s Soul Food, followed by Cioppino in North Beach or the Wharf if time allows. It’s my typical Sunday Funday adventure(s) with the fam bam in SF! Drink tea & keep calm! Pinky up =)

I’m so happy this place was open super late at night when we were craving some Asian desserts. We wanted a place to hang out after a night of salsa dancing and Souffles Café was open :) Thanks to the very polite waitress who waited for us to make up our minds and order 15 mins before closing. We sat across from a dramatic table with a fly issue :(…definitely ruined the mood. We saw that the waitress tried her best to keep composure through it all, apologized, and even urged them to go to the doctor if they needed to. We started feeling more bad for her than the dramatic client… So for cleanliness, I guess that’s something that they need to work on… but I guess we sorta expected it given the area. so it came as no surprise. We ordered udon noodles — which had an herby broth and was a lot better than I expected at 1:45am in the morning before closing! The 2 super mango sago desserts we ordered were soo yummy and definitely hit the spot. I give them 4 stars for dessert! The place is on a corner and had super cute décor inside. I guess you can go for high tea too if you wanted to. Maybe it fairs better during the day, who knows… but late at night, I’m just thankful it was open, had yummy desserts, didn’t kick us out right away, and had attentative servers for us at least. Would recommend? For a late night, and if you’re in the area and craving Asian desserts — go.

Good Asian desserts in the area but a bit expensive. The soufflés look huge and worth it but will take 30 mins to take so definitely go here to relax in general. It reminds me of a tea shop that does high tea but randomly in Chinatown.

Randomly stumbled upon this place while searching for a late night dessert. The name ‘Soufflé Café’ can be misleading since it’s not so much a café but rather a tea party themed tea room. So voilà, my boyfriend ended up experiencing his first tea party. We ordered one pot of herbal tea to share, some sandwiches, and a green tea soufflé. Everything was great. The soufflé was perfectly fluffy and moist. Overall, it is a good place for a late night dessert but a bit overpriced because I don’t think many people plan to spend $ 30+ on dessert for two. And it is not a fancy enough place for me to have a tea party brunch with girlfriends given that there are many other nicer establishments in the city.

3.5 stars. We came here for the durian soufflé after discovering on Unilocal. It is located at the corner of Broadway and Powell, right before the west bound entrance of the Broadway Tunnel. What I liked is that it is opened late night, 1:30 am and 2:30 am for Friday and Saturday. It’s perfect for a person like me who likes desserts after a late dinner. You’re either going to love or hate the décor. It hits you with English inspired tea sets, mirrors and framed art. Nothing wrong with the theme except the place is pretty small and the amount of decoration makes the room feel cluttered. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it as I appreciate the variety of art eye candy. I can see why one might feel they are in an antique store with overflowing inventory. There’s an opened kitchen. To see them prepare the entire menu with that little space definitely deserve some props. Have to also be understanding in that your order might take a longer to come with the limited resource they have to attend to all the tables cramped into this tiny store. Our soufflé took about 20 – 25 minutes and tea pot was about 10 minutes to arrive with one friendly female employee on a weekday of 4 tables. As a durian lover, I thought the durian soufflé was great with its strong durian smell and taste. It was like«POW» when in my mouth! I only wish there were more durian in it. Even though the soufflé was pretty tall upon first sight, it was a lot of air once you break it in. With more durian filled I would’ve been much happier. For a little over $ 11, it wasn’t exactly cheap either. I would’ve paid $ 15 for it filled more. Soufflés also come with their homemade cream for garnish, which reminds me of condensed milk. The tea pot was cute and the server was very attentive into having a masculine cup for me and feminine cup for her :) We got some sort of fruit flavored, light caffeinated tea and it reminded me of the Mighty Leaf’s White Orchard. Nice for them to pour in the style of English tea time. Overall, we were quite happy. The problem for me was the question of if it was worth $ 25+ for a durian soufflé and teapot for 2. For me it was because of the first experience of a durian soufflé. Coming back for a second time would be with hesitation. There are many dessert options out there for a lot less. In short, this is more of a luxury. And not everyone can have luxury all the time.

Late night and looking for an open dessert place in this part of the city isn’t easy which makes Souffles Café an attracting option. I came late night with about a half packed mixed crowd of folks and ordered a Green Tea Souffles and some chocolate Egg Puffs. Their menu was really extensive which was nice especially if you’re going in a larger group who have different tastes. The food took a long while to come out(aprx. 20 — 30 minutes) which is longer than I would of wanted to wait but so is life. After the long wait I suppose the anticipation hyped my expectations which were deflated once I tasted the food. The Soufflé was not very flavorful and the texture of it was very mushy. The egg puffs also weren’t very flavorful and seemed a bit under cooked. There aren’t many options in this part of the town for late night dessert but Soufflé Café is a toss up as it offers a late night option but average quality.

The soufflé was nothing special and still took 30 minutes! It’s $ 10, which is more than most restaurants charge, and the tiny soufflé came out undercooked. The small egg puffs also didn’t taste that good. Wouldn’t recommend this place, but the plus side if you’re looking for one is that it is relatively quiet.

I’m a fan purely because it’s in my neighborhood, and they open late! Their souffles are not great(I got a matcha one), and it was just OK, but I can’t complain if I am looking for some desserts and snacks at 10PM on a regular night. I think I’ll be coming here more often from now on! They do takeout as well, and they have a super extensive menu of desserts, ranging from souffles to smoothies to ice cream to other Chinese desserts.

My friends and I had been in the area exploring and wanted to get some tea and snacks. Unilocaled Souffles Café and headed over. The place is small, crowded with mismatched furniture and the decorations are borderline tacky. Soooo much stuff on the walls and surfaces! We had the green tea soufflé with the tea set, durian sago and mango sago. The mango sago was very very sweet, mangos aren’t fresh. The durain one was yummy, but the tapioca part wasn’t durian flavored. The soufflé took 30 minutes to make and it was pretty good! Not too sweet, fluffy. The tea set was adorable too. Service is a bit slow, there’s really only one person doing everything and they have so many items on their menu ranging from savory asian café food to desserts to japanese food that it makes sense that it takes a while to get anything. It’s a tea party meets HK style late night food type of place. This place is open super late so if you have a hankering for cucumber tea sandwiches, oolong tea and curry fish balls at midnight — then this is the place for you! My gf and I were looking for a late night dessert spot after a comedy show at cobbs and found this place was still open at like 10:30pm. We raced over and immediately had to choose a soufflé as it takes 30 — 45 min for it to bake and work its magic. We decided on the strawberry soufflé and ended up upgrading to a bottomless pat o tea set. For tea, we picked the vanilla crème tea and it was a great lighter tea with enough notes of the vanilla but not too overpowering. I don’t do late night dining as often as I used to so I’m a sucker for curry fish balls(that’s right I said BALLZ). Its so simple, and honestly I can make this for myself for way cheaper but I don’t care! The curry fish balls here are pretty good! They give you alot of curry sauce so be sure to re-dip those balls! Anyways, so after waiting in anticipation, we finally got to try the strawberry soufflé! The height on the soufflé was ok, it was deflating as it arrived to our table. I think it’s because they loaded it up with chopped strawberry pieces on top. We didn’t care, we dove right in! I don’t have too many souffles but it was pretty good to me. It tasted like strawberry candy more then a strawberry cake? Overall we were pretty happy with it! I’d come back again to try other things! The space is pretty cramped with all the crap they have in there so be sure to call ahead or make a reservation in case they are swamped. Don’t forget to check in on Unilocal!Spend $ 15 and get a free scoop of ice cream! Flavors vary but we got the sesame flavored ice cream and it was delish!

Soufflés Café looks like your grandma’s dining room. They have cute 50’s décor, cute tea cups on the tables and such, cutesy overall. My sole purpose of going here was trying durian in some shape or form. I will get to the durian later. Our Server was nice, she did ask us if we had any coupons if we intended on using, I think you have to call ahead if you do, we did not have any coupons. We got the key lime soufflé and the green tea soufflé and some white tea. The soufflés are pretty awesome. I could see myself coming here for a post dinner dessert or for an afternoon tea with some girlfriends. Now Durian, not going to hold it against Soufflés, but that schmitt stinks. I like to try funky stuff but this is pretty high up there on the gross scale. But at the end of the day, I was happy that I found a place that serves Durian in a soufflé form that I could try and close the«let’s try durian one day» chapter of my life.

We ordered desserts to go — 1) mango pudding and 2) mango, pomelo and sago The mango pudding didn’t fare so well — the pudding was dense and the sliced mangoes were sour. On the other hand, my sister finished her dessert. She said it was decent. While we we’re waiting — notice the décor of the restaurant. It was pretty cute… each table and setting was different from each other — somewhat whimsical.
