I thought this place was alright, and was honestly expecting a little more. It was alright for pastries, however, I would not return.

I’ve walked by this little café a ton of times thru my walks around north beach, and glad I made a stop here. My buddies and I came by after dinner for some coffee on a Sunday night. I ordered a single shot espresso, with an orange and chocolate cookie. The espresso was a bit too strong, and the cookie tasted a bit dry, but no hard feelings or complaints. It has plenty of seating and service was good. I wish I had the chance to explore the menu more, but since our stop was after dinner, I don’t think having more food would’ve been a smart choice. It’s nice to know there’s a quint neighborhood café that’s open quite late, and has plenty of seating in such a compact city. I would come back to this café for some coffee, and perhaps spend a little more time enjoying my time. I can’t recall if there was free wifi. Sorry guys. Overall grade: A

No pomp and circumstance at Caffè Greco, just the most satiating panini. Their coffee is average, but they somehow make it perfectly reminisce Italian morning brews. For the adventuring, alcoholic coffee combinations are available as well. Caffè Greco has free wifi, tables everywhere to help you avoid traffic zones, and tables edging into the sidewalk for people watching. It’s perfect for a quick coffee meetup in the sun, working, or a late lunch(ensuring you get your veggies). Be prepared though, they’re cash only!

Good deserts but horrible, unfriendly service. The restroom is permanently«out of order», now for 7 years, and counting! The workers just don’t want to clean it. If their friend comes they give him a key and the restroom becomes magically fixed, for a few minutes. This is in violating of the city and state laws, I reckon. Owner, you there? Replace the staff!

Absolutely average. Their dessert selection was weak. I had crème brullee gelato. It was good but not great. I realize it’s a coffee shop but I did expect them to have a better wine/beer selection which were both pathetic.

When I think of North Beach, this place instantly comes to mind. They have a great dessert selection, and quality espresso(Illy) based drinks. My personal favorite is their affogato; it’s perfection. They have tables along the sidewalk, and it’s a perfect place for a bit of people watching. Important to note that they don’t accept debit/credit cards.

Caffe Greco is a North Beach coffee and dessert shop that was very busy on a Saturday night. There’s lots of tables both inside and outside, and despite being packed, we were able to get a seat. The wait to order wasn’t too long and they give you your order right away. I had the chocolate cake and a glass of chianti. The wine was great, but I’ve had better cake. I should’ve gotten the tiramisu or some gelato. My boyfriend’s affogato with spumoni was delicious.

Caffe Greco knows how it’s done. My parents lived in Rome for a couple years, so I trust their tastebuds when it comes to proper espresso and tiramisu. They gave Caffe Greco 4-thumbs-up. My cappuccino was also phenomenal. When it’s Illy coffee, I guess it’s hard to screw up, but this didn’t just deliver, it impressed. Too bad the cup wasn’t bottomless. Wish I would have had room for gelato; the dark chocolate was really calling my name. Next time!

The cappuccino. The Greco cap has been a north beach staple forever. The big picture windows, the inside seating plan, the outdoor tables, & the vibe are all tres, tres, European. Add the always super friendly staff, & you’ve got just about a perfect café experience. The biscotti is first rate. And the panforte is fantastic. But the star? That has to be the tiramisu. I’ve debated about whether or not this tiramisu is the best tiramisu in the neighborhood, back & forth, for several years. Back & forth with who else? Mario’s down the street. I can’t decide. Back & forth. They expanded many moons ago, & the room next door has banquette tables. So it’s ideal for spreading out & doing some serious laptop work. The last time I was in, I ordered a soy cappuccino. I sat at a window table, & after a couple minutes, the barista came up to me & asked if I’d taken a sip yet. He explained that he doesn’t think the other barista remembered to use soy milk. He whisked it away & made me a new one. All on his own. That’s a 5 star café.

Love this place in North Beach. It’s the perfect spot to curl up with a coffee, tiramisu, and a book by the café’s window. Great place to people-watch too. The dessert makes the trek up the hill worth it. Staff is super friendly. Music sets the mood! Cash only

Came by the other day for dessert and coffee. The coffee shop has a good mix of locals and tourists alike at this North Beach café. It’s also the perfect environment for people watching! The tiramisu that Unilocalers were raving about was definitely worth the hype. Tiramisu was very fresh and light… definitely a must try, although slightly pricey at $ 5.5/slice. The iced lattte was okay. They use illy coffee and there’s a $ 0.5 surcharge for ice?!? Cash only!

I felt like I stepped into Italy when I was at Caffe Greco. It’s not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for. I got the Café Au Lait, and shared a Blueberry Danish, Blueberry Scone and an Orange Scone. The Café Au Lait was the best one I had in San Francisco, and the Blueberry Danish was a great way to kick-start my day. Yum
