They make large salads with whatever ingredients you want. I’m always full afterwards which is rare for a salad place.

Two years later and this place is still a staple for cheap and healthy healthy SOMA lunches. The salads are definitely on the cheap end of the spectrum(woot!) — a small starts at $ 7 and the large ~$ 9 — the small fills me up AND comes with chicken. anywhere else, you would get a basic Caesar(no chicken) and that’s already $ 7. The options are quite basic, I think there are only 5 – 6 salad choices you can choose from, and there’s not a large variety of ingredients(nope! no arugula, no kale). The workers are fast and friendly(I’ve never had to wait over 5 minutes), the ingredients are fresh, portions are big and the toppings/greens/dressing ratio is perfect. All salads and items revolve around chicken(per its namesake — SOMACHICKEN). They also have hot plate and sandwich options which all look delicious but I’ll continue to happily return solely for the SOMA chicken salad.

This place is right next to my workplace so I’m a regular here for lunch. Honestly don’t know what there is to complain about — affordable, friendly and speedy service, french ingredients, and tons of options. Dressings are tasty and servings are generous. Keep up the good work!

I don’t know how this place can call themselves SOMA chicken when they always run out of chicken. Don’t believe this place makes their chicken fresh. Maybe they used to back in 2009(old photos) but I have never seen them use the oven rotisserie ONCE while I’ve been there. The chicken is always super dry and brittle.

I’ve only ordered the Oriental Chicken salad with dressing on the side and only the small size. I’m never a huge fan of salads but this probably one of the rare places I would get a salad from when I’m working, which is why I’m giving this a 3 stars. This is my go-to salad every once in awhile when I feel like being healthy or something on the lighter side. lol there’s also sandwich, salads and side stuff but I’ve never ordered it before. If you’re looking for a lot of greens then this might not be for you. I enjoy salads with a lot of other stuff inside. There’s fried wonton skin(best part!), pasta salad, green onion(I sub it for corn), chicken, carrots, almonds and obviously greens. It also comes with bread but it’s whatever… It’s ok when I’m still hungry and dip it in my dressing.

My favorite salad is the Chicken Apple Bacon — SUPER tasty and healthy! The rotisserie chicken is the selling point here, hence the name Soma Chicken. They have a good selection of salads and sandwiches as well as sides like veggies and mashed potatoes that you can combine to make a meal. The options here are affordable and filling, and I recommend getting a half-salad if you’re not that hungry. I would come here more for lunch if it wasn’t a bit of a trek from my work.

I ordered the lunch special. The meal was filling. It is served with small portion of rice, some salad and two big chicken pieces. One breast and one thigh. The breast was really well cooked. Soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. The thigh appeared to be overcooked and stiff. A little more spices could make it flavourful.

Fresh, healthy, tasty, and generously sized salads for a good value. The line moves very fast and the staff is very friendly. A very good option for those who are considering lunch options on the lighter side.

REAL, FRESH cooked ROTISSERIE chicken on your salad! How many places can you get that in SF for $ 8!!! I always go for the house salad with vinagrette — it reminds me a lot of the House of Prime Rib salad, super delicious and satisfying

Good value for San Francisco prices. For about 9 dollars(yes I know still a lot for a salad), the portions are pretty big. I especially like the chicken Caesar salad; as there’s generally a generous portion of chicken in there. I am always satisfied after eating here!

I go to this place atleast once a week for lunch for their salads. Their are really good. I usually get the oriental chicken salad or the Southwestern chicken salad, both are great. The salads are not extraordinary, but are really tasty, made to order and consistent. I prefer them over mixed-greens. One thing I do not like, is the bread they give with their salad. The quality of the bread is not that great.

Can I just say that their Southwestern Chicken Salad is my absolute favorite salad in this whole entire world? Okay, may slightly be exaggerating, but I come here for their salads about 3 days within the work week, so needless to say, it is good. NOTE: this review is only for their salad I always get their southwestern chicken salad, and it comes in a giant tub filled with mixed greens, chicken, corn, cheese, avocado, tortilla chips, and cilantro for only $ 9.80! Given that it’s FiDi, not only is the salad cheap(especially compared to mixt greens) but the quantity is generous and the quality of the ingredients are fresh. This is one of the few salad places that probably gives just as much protein as they do greens, so for those of you who love their protein, you’ll like their portions. Their chili balsamic dressing is also DELICIOUS(I’ve been trying to copy it at home forever but I can never get it right!) and even though I do have to agree that they tend to over dress their salads, the dressing is so good that sometimes I’m okay with it(and you’re talking to someone who never gets dressing on her salad, but this is my one exception) But for those of you who are picky or trying to be «healthy», they’re very accommodating with special requests since the salad-making process is an assembly line. The line can look intimidating during peak hours, but trust me, it moves really quickly. I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than 15 minutes waiting + getting my food + paying. Overall verdict, I know it probably isn’t the healthiest salad you’ll ever have, but it’s good and affordable, and I know I’ll forever be a loyal fan.

As healthy as I try to be, I don’t eat salads unless there’s at least a few hunks of protein on it. And hell no I’m not waiting in line for Mixt Greens. Enter Soma Chicken! I couldn’t wait to try one of their monstrously sized salads and trick myself into thinking I ate something healthy for lunch. Ordered the oriental chicken salad and around 10 bucks, it is more than enough for 2 meals. That being said they have a heavy hand when it comes to dressing your salad and I told them so after taking a few bites. Make sure you tell them to dress it lightly beforehand! The kind lady added more greens for me to rectify and this made it edible. Comparable to Costco’s rotisserie chicken, the tender meat was good but didn’t really make salad worth eating for me. I tried to finish the rest for dinner but of course it got soggy by then. :( I appreciate the customer service but I’ll hit Pluto’s up next time I want to be pseudo-healthy. Bok Bok!

Much like Café Venue, Soma Chicken is built for salads. The whole assembly line structure in there is made for them to turn salads around within minutes. I’ve gotten salads from them like their special caesar with beets and chicken but the last time I came here, I decided to get a chicken parmesan sandwich. Damn you Peyton Manning and the Nationwide Insurance commericial! Kind of ironic that the commercial makes me want to get a sandwich versus insurance but anyways… I had to wait few more minutes as they had to send someone else to prep the chicken sandwich from scratch and while waiting in there, salad ordering people will be passing and walking around you as you’re waiting. The sandwich was actually pretty good and I forgot that chicken parm is really just cheese, breaded chicken cutlet and sauce. That just goes to show truly how effective Peyton Manning has on our society. In terms of my next visit, I’m getting a salad.

I found out about Soma Chicken through my co-worker. I created my own salad: romaine lettuce, slivered almonds, apples, candied walnuts, tomatoes, and rotisserie chicken. The portion was generous and good for two meals. I’d recommend them for a healthy lunch.

I work in the Rincon, so this place is super convenient. Service is quick and the serving is filling. I’ve only ordered their oriental chicken salad with corn, which I can’t even finish and take it home for dinner — so it’s pretty worth it for $ 8. I do want to give their rotisserie chicken a try with rice next time since it seems like a popular item too.

Love this place! The chicken is just amazing. There are 3 main things that I rotate through, as I go here quite often. The Soma Chicken Salad is awesome — I slightly modify it by getting mixed greens instead of iceburg lettuce. The balsamic vinaigrette is delish. The Soma Chicken Sandwich was shockingly good. The flavor combo in this sandwich is unique and just really yummy. I’m not sure of all the things in it, but it’s just very good. The rotisserie chicken with 2 sides — I always double up on the veggies. They are seasoned, and cooked perfectly. Not all soggy like other places.

I’ve worked nearby for the past seven years, but somehow have skipped on this place until recently. My go-to is the Southwest Chicken, which comes with a considerable about of chicken, mixed greens, tomatos, cilantro, corn, avocado, Jack cheese, and tortilla strips tossed in their chili balsamic vinaigrette and is served with their bread of the day. Pricing at nearly $ 10 for this salad is reasonable considering that one salad can fill me for two meals. Considering how quick service is, makes for a perfect grab and go. P. S. Medium dressing has been overdressed for me. Light had been under. Next time I’m asking for my dressing on the side.

I’ve been here twice. Once was for a small chicken noodle soup, which had lots of chunks of fresh rotisserie chicken. The most recent was for the Oriental Chicken Salad. The salads here are about $ 7−9ish, but huge, and still cheaper than Mixt Greens. They actually give you lots of chicken(unlike Mixt Greens). My salad was good for two meals and workers here are friendly and quick. Definitely recommend their salads for a hearty and somewhat healthy lunch.

TL;DR: Enormous fresh salads and good sandwiches, of a variety of types. This is another place close to work that I’ve been meaning to frequent more often. So far I’ve only had two of their offerings, but enjoyed both, and usually end up with left overs(aka big enough to share). They quickly pull together all the ingredients for your particular salad and toss them well right in front of you before sending you quickly out the door. Ingredients and dressings are always fresh and tasty, crispy veggies and well prepped accoutrements. I had a chicken parm sandwich here once too, and was deleted to see them cook it FRESH right in front of me. Seriously, they did a quick pan fry of the chicken and add sauce and cheese onto a freshly toasted bun… was great. I will be back here more often, as I’m trying to eat healthier and this is a great option for the FiDi/Soma area.
