That strip of Irving that goes from 22nd to 25th suffers from no shortage of grocers but I do like what S&B uniquely offers – tons of Asian snacks and frozen foods! I swear, every snack I’ve ever ate or drank as a child is sold at this store. You also need to check out their ice cream section – it’s more expensive than Safeway but they have ALL the flavors of my favorite brands! Worth paying the extra $ if you ask me. They also have a wide selection of cooking sauces and even vegan/vegetarian frozen food options. There isn’t a lot of fresh produce and no meat or seafood but that could be a blessing in disguise because it keeps the store nice and clean. Prices here are definitely cheaper than Sunset Super. However, I do recommend checking the expiration date of anything you buy here. There are some items that are on promo that are due to expire that day or within a week. I live on the edge and won’t mind consuming something that is within a week of its«Best By» date but your mileage may vary.

Variety is definitely more limited than big Asian markets, but that’s because S&B really only has about 7 – 8 aisles to work with. But for what they do stock, I did notice that it is significantly cheaper than other Asian markets in the area, with only a minor drop off in quality. Many of their items are also sold individually which is great for singles. Nothing against Sunset Super, but sometimes you only need one of something, not 3, 5, or even worse…10. Yes, I’m looking at you limes. Aisles at S&B are very neat and clean. They also don’t have carts and an abundance of people clogging up each lane. However, it’s not always going to be a one stop shop(they don’t have a butcher station, for example) but for what they do offer, it’s at a very fair price and is acceptable for most needs. Some prices for identical items I noticed(S&B vs Sunset Super): 1. Green Onions: 0.49 vs 1.10 per bushel 2. Roasted Peanuts: 2.69 vs 3.09 per bag 3. Hi-Chew: 0.69 vs 0.99 per pack

Small supermarket with asian food. I go there more than once a week because they sell natto. You can also expect Chinese or Japanese vegetables, frozen food, seasonings, and snacks.
