I’ve been renting with RHL for some time now, and I’m happy with the facility. 24-hr access and conveniently located in the East SOMA.

The bathrooms are beyond disgusting– I try to avoid them at all costs: to give you an idea, I’d rather use the bathroom at the dive bar across the street(Hotel Utah) than use the bathroom here. Yikes. Seemingly never cleaned or maintained. Trash has a tendency to pile up in the hallways, not regularly taken out. After parties are thrown in one of the units late at night and random people are allowed into the building — unsafe, considering musicians use these places to keep and house expensive gear!

Ok, this place is not bad. It’s open 24 hours and people are generally cool. Yes, the area is shady. And there are mice in the alley it’s on. But dudes, chill out. The rent on spaces are totally reasonable, and all spaces are fully occupied, so if you happen to get a space, you’d be lucky. I used to be in the other RHL space at hyde and eddy. I’d say that area was equally shady, the rooms were smaller(definitely lower ceilings if that matters) for the price, the soundproofing was better, and the vibe inside was slightly less«cool» and more sterile. They’re both pretty good. That is all.

Been at RHL for 5 months now– since Rocker closed on 3rd. We love the building! The landlord is super cool. All the bands that practice here are awesome, and everyone looks out for each other. Granted– the area is shady– but we have never had a problem. And compared to a lot of other studios in the city– this is way better. The bathrooms are always clean and functioning, the trash is taken out in a timely manner, never have electricity issues– what more do true rockers need?
