Revamp Salon

I’ve been doing hair modeling for more than 25 years as a San Francisco resident. I’ve trusted my head in many artist’s hands! I have had everything done to my hair and I’ve had it practically every color. I’ve had it white, black, pink, brown red and yellow. I’ve mastered bleaching & toning it myself. I have used nearly every sort of dye known to wo/​man. When I came to Revamp I was looking for some answers (that I could not find online) about glossing, and Eric unfortunately seemed not interested in really working with me. I understand his knowledge is limited to his specific training but his approach was discouraging. I’m at a crossroads and didn’t want to stay on the rollercoaster of black hair. He obviously did not know or care to help me. I got nervous by his attitude toward me and my hair cape and he did nothing to help appease me. I stepped outside to make a phone call, changed my mind. Nope.
Came in, thanked him and essentially got snickered at by the stylists under their breath as I left. I was planning to go back but that amateur and very unprofessional move made me a disbeliever. BOO.

I had the good fortune of walking by Revamp at their old location in the Mission in August of 2010. I was interested in trying a Brazilian blowout and they were offering a promotion. I called but they were closed. Huy called me back the next day, and as we say, the rest is history.
I have been a regular since then for color, cuts, and other styling treatments. The vibe of the salon is awesome, and most importantly the results are beyond reproach. And for a person with a tremendous amount of hair that can be hard to manage, finding someone who can perfect it every time is invaluable.
Huy is the consummate professional and he absolutely knows his trade. A considerate listener, he is always careful to make sure I get what I want, has fantastic suggestions that have never been a disappointment, and treats his clients like royalty. I have brought all of my friends and family here and they too have been thrilled with the results from the stylists at Revamp.
I cannot imagine trusting my hair to anyone else.

I think that love is an understatement when it comes to my *new do*. Eric, you did an AMAZING job! I walked in with all of these photos and inspiration and he cut it exactly how I imagined it. He cuts with such precision… Not only that, he walked me through how to use the wand curling iron to get the perfect subtle curls for this look. I highly recommend Eric for your next haircut. He will not disappoint!!!

I was hoping this would be my new salon but this was definitely not. My hair turned out really brassy and Huy basically made it seem like it was my fault. So, there will be no correction unless I go to them for another service. months later. I’ve been getting my hair done for years and whenever I was unhappy with it they would always have me come in to correct it. Well, not this place.

I’m very happy with my Revamp appointment. Everyone at the salon is super friendly, including their adorable mascot of a dog, Riley!
Rachel did my hair and I appreciated how patient she was with my indecisiveness. She easily recognized that I was not ready for the lob I had been considering, yet still gave me the change that I needed! We ended up going with a balayage and she cleaned up my hair that had been in permanent messy bun mode for the past month. The price was a bit steep for my budget, but I like knowing that my money is going to good people, and I walked out of the salon feeling wonderful. I’ll definitely be back!
(Minus one star for less than ideal scheduling cancellation half an hour before my appointment, but I will note that they did their best to rectify the situation)

I had my wedding hair trial at Revamp just before my wedding in August 2015 and it was PERFECT on the first try! Megan is no longer at the salon, but I wanted to share a few photos because Revamp owns this amazing professional lamp that allows you to mimic a photographer’s lighting — THANK YOU!

I walked in and got an appointment the same afternoon. Azela was great, she took her time and did a fantastic job.

Took 4 years but I finally found my hair god in SF. Huy is amazing! He asks what you’re looking for, how much time you want to spend on your hair, and then magic. Highly recommended.

Everytime I move to a new city, I spend MONTHS looking for a stylist. I suffer through misguided stylists who don’t understand short hair for chicks and lack the ability to blend, want to give me a cut so «edgy» that I can never get the asymetrical bits back in place, or has some 90’s/senior citizen (no insult intended to my elders) version of current. I found Ali Shear on the first try. Perfection. She asks questions and listens. My cut is always cool and effortless with the added bonus that people stop me to ask who cuts my hair.

This is a great place … the salon has a very comfortable, friendly atmosphere and if you are very lucky you might get a welcoming wag of the tail from Riley, the owner’s poodle. I’m willing to bet that it would be hard to get a bad cut here; the owner understands the importance of keeping up with trends, styles, products, and so on. I came here because I followed Toni, who is just a SUPERB cutter and all round beautiful human being. I recommend her.

I followed a new addition, Eric G., from the east bay. He is fantastic with modern, fashion forward cuts. I feel brand new when I leave his chair. Definitely book with him!

Eric Gutierrez is a hair GOD! He took my hair from red to silver in one session, making sure to keep it safe and healthy the whole way. And I can always count on him for a fun and edgy cut that leaves me feeling fabulous!
Everyone at Revamp is super nice and talented and I love that it is such a collaborative environment.

Revamp’s new location is amazing and spectacular. I have been going to the salon for quite some time now and I do have to say, I have not been disappointed. My stylist, Huy (owner) is fabulous. He keeps up with the latest trends, techniques and most importantly he always has a fun, honest and professional demeanor. No wonder the salon has been choosen in Elle’s magazine one of the best salons. Not only is Huy wonderful, but also Rachel. Definitely a great recommendation as an alternative. Thank you Revamp for always making me feel happy and sparkling after.

This is a review for Eric.
I’ve been following Eric since 2008 and won’t go anywhere else. He’s Toni and Guy-​trained in giving women fierce, tight, ultra-​modern cuts, the kind that make you feel you’ve stepped out of a European fashion magazine.
I have thick, shortish hair and he always gives me the «bed-​head,» pixie-​ish, Chorus Line Flapper/80;s glam rock bob I love that makes me feel part Winona Ryder, part Pat Benatar, part fashion model. I went to a party the other day and got a lot of compliments on my cut. He is so very talented!

I should’ve never trusted anyone else with my hair. After going to Huy once over a year ago, I decided to try other stylists that were closer to me or just had availability at the time.
Boy, was that a big fat mistake.
I’ve been through crooked/​uneven bangs, inconsistent layers, boring haircuts, only to come crying back to Huy.
And I’m glad he took my cheating a$$ back. Huy is my hair whisperer and I will NEVER let anyone else touch my hair unless it’s him! All I have to do is walk in, sit in the chair and say, «Do yo thang.» And oh, he does. My damaged, flat, heavy Asian hair goes through a complete transformation and next thing I know, I’m walking down the street with a strange man saying, «Hey, you have a nice smile!»
Today he asked me, «How would you feel about having Beyonce curls?» UHHH I’VE ONLY DREAMED OF IT SINCE I WAS 4. Hot daaaaaaaaamn I look fierce.
You know how they say, «Give a woman the right pair of shoes and she can rule the world?» I think that’s bull$hit. Give a woman a voluminous, luscious haircut and blowout by Huy and she will conquer the universe.

Dania is a highlight goddess. My roots were popping out, and she put them all right back in their place. My hair is full of blonde pop and I’m all ready for the San Francisco summer (maybe more SoCal, but whatever).
If your hair needs to be highlighted or toned or you just need a good girl talk sesh, Dania is your girl!

Everyone at Revamp are super professionals and master artists in their own right. I go for Megan but there’s no wrong stylist here.
The space is fresh, open, and bright. Their products are of great quality. There is always great tunes playing. The location is convenient and easily accessible.
Been a client for 5 years. no other salons has beaten Revamp.

If you want a new look, great service, wonderful atmosphere, and professional stylist then REVAMP is the place to go.
My stylist was AZALEA and she made me feel and look like a whole new person. I am so greatful to finally find someone who can do it all. Thank you REVAMP and AZALEA.

I came here yesterday without an appointment and I was immediately added in. I had never been here before and only knew about this place from Unilocal.Wow! Was I in for an extraordinary experience.
Azalea was my stylist from heaven! I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she totally replicated it. She is amazing, charismatic, friendly, sweet, adorable… I can’t say enough about this beautiful person who has made me feel beautiful. I walked out of there floating on air. It’s a little pricey but sooooo worth it. I can’t wait to go back and get my hair colored by her. If she does my color as good as she did my hair, I’ll probably explode into sparkly confetti! I love Revamp and Azalea, thank you so much!

I’m SUPER sensitive about my fat face and large dome but for the last nine years Huy always snips and styles my hairs in a way that makes me feel beautiful and perfectly proportioned. ILY HUY!!! :D
P. S. I just read my 2010 review from Huy’s old location on Guerrero. Go there if you want some omg lols. I was DEEP into my 20s.
