Michelina clearly knows what she is doing, and really seems to love what she does as well. I didn’t really have any idea what I wanted or direction to give her, but she designed a haircut that really suits me, and I really love it. Less importantly, but still awesome, the salon is a very cool space. It seems really well curated, and I feel like it reflects Michelina’s work in that it is unconventional, but so well put together. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new hair stylist.
Unnecessary backstory: After living in San Francisco and not being able to find a hair salon, I feel like I have found it! I hadn’t had my hair cut in about a year after getting a haircut that I really didn’t like. I had noticed Michelina’s salon while taking the N to work, and then after reading the overwhelmingly positive Unilocal reviews (so positive, I was suspicious they might be fake), I decided to take the plunge and I am very happy with the result.

I have always thought of Michalena as an artist, a tailor, and a stylist. She sees layers and lines in a way that makes me feel like each hair style is a vignette, and in a way the style evolves. Like, I can see her and think, «this is a beautiful cut.» Then about a month or six weeks later it’s like a hair grenade has gone off and it’s become the best hair of my life. And it’s never the same cut twice. See, I came to her at first when I was in my early 20s and she was able to meet me and my look then just as she is able to meet my look now nearly twenty years later. Our communication is clear and collaborative. Michalena is super special.

Michelina has talent! I made an appointment after walking by the intriguing shop. Hmmm, a creative spirit – so she must have a great sense of hair styling as well. After many years with Michelina, I confirm what everyone else has already said on Unilocal.They captured it. She cares about what she does – a true professional. I nag her about the time she is spending sometimes – Are you finished yet? I say in good humor. She is also a very smart woman with whom one can carry a meaningful conversation. Love her style and taste!

Michelina is the artist, perfectionist and an amazing person. She has
immaculate taste and great experience. She is also a good listener and has an
ability to make every person to look her or his best.
