this is definitely, or was definitely, my go to coffee stop in those wee hours of the morning when i arrive to school earlier than necssary. i simply stay on the 23 bus for two extra stops and tada! i still visit luckys and am often reminded that it has closed. but the kind server lady who was always serving me at 630am is still working at luckys. she would always be cheery and though shes probably required to be a morning person, her personality brightened my days the most. the coffee wasnt anything spectacular but the prices were relatively cheaper than tullys or starbucks.): and i only needed 2 more stamps until my free coffee, darn.

I feel like I have lost a good friend… a few good friends, in fact. I have gotten to know the ladies from the Pacific Coast Café at Lucky on Fulton. Although we didn’t know each other personally, I always looked forward to swinging by for a fresh coffee to start my day after the morning 9am parking skrum. They knew what I wanted and were cheery even on Mondays. I went in today and it was CLOSED, for good. There was a sign saying I could get my coffee in the bakery, yuck. I had no warning! I am devastated. WHY, Oh Lucky, WHY?! So much for stopping by for lunch, or movie rentals, or dinner shopping. I have been let down and I don’t want to go there any more. Too many good memories lost. And for the record, I am definitely not going to switch my patronage to that chain coffee place across the street. I am giving up.

This place has great espresso, WAY better than Starbucks(actually, no real comparison), better than Tully’s and even better tasting than Peet’s. The people there are also incredibly sweet and nice. The sad news is that I was there this morning and was told that TODAY(Saturday October 9, 2010) WASTHEIRLASTDAY! Some higher ups made the decision to close it, and the woman couldn’t tell me why. I am seriously bummed.

Located inside Lucky’s supermarket. This use to be a Starbucks when they were still Albertsons I believe. Pacific Coast Café serves some pretty good coffee. They have a buy 10 drinks and get 1 free card. They’re also having a promotion where you can spin the wheel. The choices on the wheel are 1 free stamp, 2 free stamps, 3 free stamps, and a free drink(value goes up to $ 3). If you don’t prefer Pacific Coast Café, there’s always a Tully’s few doors down. I prefer walking into Lucky’s, get a cup of coffee from PCC, and walk around the supermarket.

This is the coffee shop inside Lucky’s, and a fabulous coffee shop it is. Super friendly service, and one of the most reasonable priced lattes I’ve had in a while — $ 2.79 for a small with sugar free vanilla syrup. Best part? The barista’s reply to my inquiry confirming she used nonfat milk: «Of course, that’s how I make mine!» Touché.
