What a disgrace this place is(Lone Mountain) and a very poor representation of USF. Here’s my experience. A little after midday: 1. $ 50 for 3 lunch meals and 2 drinks? I was overcharged 1 x $ 11 meal(yes — $ 11 for a student’s lunch) Had to ask the cashier to correct it. Waited until supervisor could be found to authorize. 2. After paying for 3 meals the server was missing. Had to ask someone for the server to return to get the meals. Eventually he did. 3. I was given 1 meal. Had to ask for the other 2. Got them after he checked the ticket he had screwed up and threw across the bench. 4. No napkins. Had to ask for napkins to be replenished.(That can happen anywhere — just not my lucky day) 5. Not finishing the very ‘average’ meal, I asked for a box. Was told they were downstairs and not available because someone would have to get them. 6. After taking a photo of the café for Unilocal(as we do and I posted) I was followed to my table by that same rude young man who would not get a box. He stood over me, told no-one was allowed to take photos of the café and ordered I delete the photo in front of him. He insisted several times — intimidating by his voice, encroaching personal space and holding his hand out to give him my phone. 7. I left. Having eaten at many educational facilities over the years, never have I had such an awful and unprofessional experience. I sincerely encourage the company to do a little quality control and customer service training at this location.

When your studying late and you need food and drink, Outtakes is there.

Bad service, way overpriced, bad quality of food. In a place like San Francisco you think the university would of figured out some better food options. Do yourself a favor and go get a way better quality meal for the same price or cheaper on the Haight or Geary.

This place and any place at USF is overpriced. The quality of the food isn’t very good too. I can go off-campus and get way better food for a cheaper price. A lot of things here are just rip-offs. They’re just lucky that kids here would pay the price since it’s convenient.

Not my first choice for food. It’s totally over-priced and not always the freshest. Positives: Plenty of room to sit and eat. BBQ during the summer. Some decent grab and go selections(but you gotta get there early). Negatives: EXPEN$IVE Food quality can be insulting at times. They have reduced hours during the summer(9am — 3pm I belive). They run out of the better food choices early.

I once spent an entire night fantasizing about the many ways in which I could destroy this place, my anger inspired by a night of puking and… well, other consequences of having been food poisoned by a sandwich that I bought from this place. But, it’s not all bad. Outtakes is a convenient place to shop for those that want the prices and service of an airport newsstand but can’t make it all the way to SFO. Where else in the City can you pay $ 7 for a coke and a pack of gum? Or buy vintage pizza slices for the price of a full pizza? Also, for those that like their coffee infused with a special«mesquite» flavor(free of charge!), this place is perfect for you. The cups say Peet’s, but I believe this is meant to read«Pete’s,» a lesser known local roaster with a slightly less favorable reputation. Don’t worry, you’ll still pay as if it were actually Peet’s though! All in all, a great place to shop, especially if you like the exhilaration of mountain-climbing immediately prior to your shopping experience.

Outtakes is the deli/café/grocery mart at my school, University of San Francisco. Its located in the Lone Mountain building, which is way the hell up at the top of this huge treacherous mountain. So, for students who live in the dorms at Lone Mountain or students who have class there all day, there is no other option to shop for food, drinks, coffee, ect within a reasonable distance. Well, Outtakes(a Bön Appetit business) has taken advantage of this and decided to charge incredibly high prices and rip off all the students. Its pretty deviant. They charge airport equivalent prices for their merchandise– and these poor students have to give in and pay because the only other option is to walk 10 blocks. SIXDOLLARS for a mini-sized deodorant, 2.50 for Balance energy bars(they are .99 cents at Trader Joe’s, just to give you an idea of the profit they’re making off starving students) and I’m always noticing other exorbitantly priced items as well. I think its disgusting and infuriating that they get away with this. Bring your lunch, kids… unless you want to break the bank here.

Outtakes Café is located on the ground floor of the Lone Mountain Campus of USF. For the unlucky students that have to climb up the hill every morning/evening to get to their classes, Outtakes is a nice little place to visit to releave your hunger and thirst. In 2006 it was remodeled and now resembles a hip café more than anything. There is a large selection of pre-packaged food and drinks, as well as a kitchen(fried chicken, sandwiches, etc). Definitely worth going there if you have class at Lone Mountain.
