This cannot be true! Say it aint so! Olive was our San Fran bar visit tradition. I am beyond sad to see it closed it’s doors. Olive made our trip complete :( The bar owner of Olive was beyond lovely. We’d have great laughs, even after close time.(I’m forgetful with your name, I do apologize, even after many years. maybe it’s the drinks you made us every time we came to visit you) This bar made me feel like I belonged. Not just for me, but all my friends say the same thing. Now where will I go to get my martini’s and cocktail drinks at? No place will ever be a like. If any of you know the bar owner, and if he relocated to another place, please get a hold of me. I’d very much appreciate it.

Love. Love this place. Every time I come to the City with my friends we make it a habit to stop and eat here. We are huge fans of the show and movie«Sex and the City» and this is our spot, our get away. Drinks are on point every time. Food is excellent. I love the atmosphere.

Solid happy hour! Yes, it’s located in the Tenderloin. No, it’s nowhere near as seedy or dangerous as people say it is. Do come here and get their signature martini, with goat cheese stuffed olives. Popped in on a Thursday and was able to snag a booth by the entrance right away. There is table service, and our servers were all very friendly and prompt. The food was okay, a few of my friends and I tried the tempura fried olives, mushroom & truffle oil pizza, and bruschetta. The pizza was pretty underwhelming to me; they didn’t overdo the truffle oil(which is a plus), but the pizza was overall lacking the huge flavor I thought it would bring. The tempura olives are fantastic, and the bruschetta was very good. The martinis are excellent here! And you also get a little container of marinated olives to munch on. Happy hour is very reasonably priced. I usually go to eat + drink chambers in the TL, but olive is definitely more affordable, so I’ll be bouncing between the two. Would definitely come back!

(Went August, 2013) We were indecisive on where to go for a late dinner on a Monday night. This was a nice find. Kind of a sketchy area but the place itself is cool. The pomme frites, fish tacos and pizza were all excellent. Nice lineup of drinks too. All in all, enjoyed it and would come back.

This place was surprisingly one of our favorite bars in San Francisco. Aside from being olive lovers this place makes authentic mixed cocktails. My boyfriend had a local beer and I had the blood orange margarita and it was so tasty! While waiting for our dinner they served us complimentary olives. We ordered the pizza of the day which was soooo GOOD(this crust chicken, artichokes, tomatoes and cheese). We also ordered the ceviche and pita chips. The food was legit and served quickly. The food is affordable like $ 10 a plate. Oh and I had a dirty martini with the goat cheese stuffed olives(ask for extras) just because they were that good! Drinks were strong and very yummy! This bar is in a shady area of the downtown but so worth the trip. Met some locals there and perfect place to sit and chat!

I came to the city to see Augustana(and Twin Forks) play at The Great American Music Hall. I wanted to grab a meal before the show. I searched«food» on Unilocal and the picture of the pizza caught my attention and I love tapas. The Olive restaurant is a hole in the wall. We were hit on by a homeless man out in front of the restaurant, but once we got inside, it was lovely. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a house margarita while we waited for our food. We enjoyed delicious guacamole with yummy chips and the scrumptious fish tacos. I loved the atmosphere and the food. It was great being right around the corner from the Music Hall. The show was amazing too. What a wonderful night!

I visit San Francisco a few times each year… after I drop off my bags, Olive is always my first stop for refreshments! I usually like to start with a basil and lime gimlet from their cocktail menu and the pear monticristo sandwich! Delicious! Jerry is awesome behind the bar, and he’s always talkative and friendly, too.

I teetered between 3 and 4 stars on this one. There was definitely more good than bad. Came on Friday night for a quick drink and bite to eat before meeting friends. Location is sketchy at best, but once you’re in, it’s worth it. The ambiance is lively and cozy. Fun music + a happy crowd is the best! The place is pretty small so be prepared for volume. We got lucky to find a table just opening up. The service was great, the waitress and bartender were very friendly and attentive. Drinks were good, but the food was what fell a tad short. We tried the fish tacos which were pretty bland. Chips and guac were ok. I’d love to try some of the other menu items — I was eyeing the neighbors pizza and it looked delish. Would not race to go back but would happily recommend Olive to anyone looking for a fun spot to get the evening started.

Great friendly bar! And attentive!!! I wish I remembered our waiter’s name but he was soooo fun and sooo cool! He told us about their HH but unfortuantely, I do not live in Cali anymore :(because I definitely would be back. Stiff martinis! Too stiff for me so the bartender/waiter made it over for me. My gf, however, loved her’s stiff and had no complaints. Now onto the food!!! YUMMMMMM! We all enjoyed the fried calamari, the ceviche style calamari, wild mushroom and truffle oil pizza, and classic pepperoni pizza. EVERYTHING we had was delicious ESPECIALLY the ceviche styled calamari. If you don’t get anything else, get that!!!

Great happy hour from 5 – 7 pm on weekdays. $ 5 for their classic martinis, mojitos, and a margarita. The rasberry martini was great. The watermelon martini was very sweet and tasted like a liquid jolly rancher. $ 1 off beers. $ 8 dollar pizzas during HH as well– the sausage one was good. It wasn’t too crowded, but we did have to wait 30 minutes for a table on a Friday night. Our server was friendly and attentive. Casual atmosphere.

You know that place where everyone knows your name? Well, this isn’t Cheers, but it might as well be. My friend and I have been coming here consistently for 2 years, and they never disappoint. As always, I’m just the driver, but my friend insists their drinks rock. And for $ 5.00 at Happy Hour, and 6 drinks later, it must be good. Personally, I really like their guacamole with warm chips. And we both like their mushroom pizza with truffle oil($ 8.00 during =) hour). This is the place we go to to think deep thoughts, and hog their table without having to worry that they’ll kick us out. We think deep thoughts such as the three reasons places are haunted in Tv shows like«A Haunting,» «Paranormal Witness,» and«Ghost Hunters.» 1) Because some moron conjured up spirits 2) Violent deaths within the property Yes, deep thoughts such as this. This is our hang out spot, and maybe one day instead of pondering mindless stuff, we’ll figure out a formula to cure cancer or something, or invent the next infomercial gadget…

Ordered 4 different pizzas. Overall pizza was good, very thin and crispy. Favorites were barbecue chicken and sausage. Not that impressed by truffle mushroom Pizza. Cocktails were fairly priced and strong for happy hour. Would go back

HAPPYHOUR! Had plans to go to the Orpheum Theater, so I wanted to grab some drinks before the show. $ 5 house cocktails, $ 1 off beer and wine, and $ 8 pizzas! I had the dirty vodka martini(comes goat cheese stuffed olives nom) and the alcohol was not lacking. I had a taste of the raspberry martini and it was a bit too sweet for my liking. For food we ordered the field greens salad and the mushroom and truffle oil pizza. The salad was heavenly! It was lightly dressed and all the ingredients really complemented each other. When the pizza came to the table I immediately got a waft of the truffle oil. I found it to be decent, especially for $ 8! Luckily it wasn’t busy so the atmosphere was more cozy than hectic. Friendly service!

Came here before a show at Bill Graham for some drinks and snacks. The inside was spacious and had a saloon feel with all the wood and no windows. The staff was nice and attentive, but mostly cause it didn’t seem that busy. It has a pretty extensive drink menu, and the drinks are decent. I had a Watermelon Martini(I admit it, haha. the waiter asked do you like sweet drinks? and I responded with No, but I love Watermelon, haha). It was good, tasted like a Watermelon Jolly Rancher. Also and the Spicy and Dirty, which was a dirty martini with Jalapeño stuffed olives and an extra kick to it. Also really good. The food was okay, we had the calamari and quesadilla. Far from gourmet, but it was okay. Maybe, I’ll try a pizza next time. For the most part its a gem hidden in the TL, but it doesn’t take too much to a gem there.

Happy hour martini? Yes please! It gets a little tight but it’s because you can’t go wrong with $ 5 martinis and $ 8 pizzas! The Wild Mushroom with Truffle Oil is impressively heavy on the mushroom and truffle oil. I’m also pretty hooked on the Tempura Fried Olives stuffed with Gorgonzola.

We went on a Friday night for happy hours(till 7pm). And we had the best cocktails ever for only $ 5. If you’re a girl — or a guy who loves sweets — you HAVETO order the Chocolate Martini. It’s sugary, syrupy, full of alcohol, amazing. You’ll probably not be able to drink more than one though(because of the aforementionned sugar). Nevermind: the Rasperry Drop and the Mojito are excellent as well. Apparently, they also serve special pizzas during happy hour for $ 9 — we didn’t tried them though. But some people came to have dinner while we were here, so I suppose their food is good as well! It’s probably my favorite bar in SF — just go there and you’ll see!

Luuuuuuuuuuv Olive! This place has a few scattered tables lining the exposed brick wall and some bar seating but that’s about it. This means that you may have to wait for a table. The food is outstanding. The staff is really nice. Cocktails and wine fabulous. You need the Spicy Dirty One and Lychee Mojito. We split the Ceviche Style Calamari and it was a delight! They make the corn chips that come with this in house. Note: Closed on Sunday

*Location is not the greatest. *great place to come for happy hours but this place is not recommended for large group since this place is really really small. If you do want to come in large group, you have to come at the time when it’s just open and get the very back seats since it can fit about 8 people if you push the tables together even though its made for 2 people per table. Their drinks are okay. Since i came here with group, we order a lot if food such as: 1. Wild mushroom and truffle oil pizza $ 12 2. BBQ chicken pizza $ 12 3. Pesto and red onion $ 12 4. Cheese, fresh tomato, and 9 5. Fried calamari $ 12 Food are good but quite expensive even for happy hours pizza. The size of the pizzas are like individual small pizza. Friendly workers here

Happy hour is from 5−7pm, and there’s good drink specials($ 5) and pizza deals. This is definitely the place to go if you plan on getting a happy buzz on(or smashed, whatever your preference) without spending much money. I got a mojito here the other night, and let me tell you, the alcohol content in that drink was out of control. First of all, it comes in a huge glass, and second, by the time I was about ¼ of the way done, I was already feeling it. A lot. By the end of it, I felt like I’d had three drinks for the price of one. And I only spent $ 5. Awesome.

Who would of ever thought the TL has a decent Happy hour joint? ding ding ding, does OLIVE ring a bell? Perfect celebration of a hard day of work, as me and my coworkers were THIRSTY! Pointers: Arrive early, Olive is small and pretty popular on a Friday evening. Happy hour is from 5p-7p. Good eats? Pizza specials are $ 8, calamari $ 12– portion size are extensive and $ 5– Pommes frites. House cocktails $ 5– Recommendation-Pomegrante Martini will get your fire started! Service-friendly and right on point! Dj-good beats!

Great happy hour! Happy hour starts at 5pm and while it gets crowded, it’s not as terrible as I had imagined. Happy hour includes some beer, select cocktails, and pizzas. Get the raspberry lemon drop. The mojito was a little too watery for my taste. As for food, the truffle pizza was chock full of delicious mushrooms. Yum!

One Olive, Two Olives, Three Olives… OMG, WAIT!!! Did I just eat olives??? Last night is a blur, Olive was our third stop for Thirsty Thursdays and being five Gin and Tonics in, I didn’t even notice the crackhead, tranny and poop and pee-infested lined streets. Ahhh, the wonders of alcohol. I’ve heard about Olive for some time now and after hitting up Jones and Ace’s earlier, one of my friends had suggested we pay a visit. We(I) stumbled in around 10PM and was able to snatch one of the two last tables. Olive is another hidden gem located in the heart of the TL. As you walk through the large wooden doors, it feels like you’ve escaped into a safe haven that’s lively yet very warm and inviting. It’s a contemporary hipster bar that you would imagine in The Mission or SoMa. However, it’s NOT just any bar… Olive serves cocktails that will easily make you BLASTED off one and serves yummy food to satiate your drunken appetite. Fyi, Happy Hour is Monday — Friday, 5PM — 7PM. Pizzas are $ 8 and House Cocktails are $ 5. As I’m normally a Hendrick’s Tonic drinker, I decided to mix things up a teeny bit and asked our waitress for suggestions. She suggested I go with The Cucumber One($ 11) — Hendrick’s Infused with Cucumber. My buzz was starting to wear off but after just one sip, I was like«WHOA!» Trying to maintain my composure after feeling like I got the wind knocked out of me, I gave my most incognito«WOWWEEEE» look but my friend quickly took notice and helped me get my drink over the rocks. Mind you, I can pound Liquid Cocaine shots like it’s nothing, but this cocktail was so strong it had nothing on the dangerously inebriating LC’s. Need proof? Just look at this pic, apparently my BB camera also had gin goggles in full effect: We noshed on the Pommes Frites($ 5) which was a mixture of crisp and soft sweet potatoes and russet potatoes. Being steak cut fries, they were not very crisp, but I still enjoyed it esp with the creamy and tangy aioli sauce. The Spicy Ahi Tuna Roll($ 14) was deliciously crisp on the outside and filled with fresh, tender tuna. The dallop of sriracha gave it a nice kick while the sesame soy gave it a salty tanginess. You can’t go to Olive without having one of their Thin Crust Pizzas. We opted for the BBQ Chicken Pizza($ 12) which had a perfectly crisp crust throughout. The chunks of chicken were tender and the light dousing of BBQ sauce gave the creamy pizza a sweet and smoky tang. No noshing is complete without dessert and we ordered the Bread Pudding($ 7) which was both comforting and satisfying. Crisp around the edges, the bread pudding was soft and fluffy on the inside. The raisins gave it a burst of sweetness while the evaporated milk a light milky creaminess. Just like the ambiance, the staff at Olive is warm, lively and upbeat. I love that they were playing Top 40s which really help me put me in my happy go lucky mood aka«Throw Your Hands Up in the Aireee» mood but I kept it together. Phew! As far as the olives go, I normally hate them with a passion but I ended up noshing on the complimentary ones given to us. I told you, it ONLY takes ONE cocktail at Olive…
