(I just posted this same review on: ) I have honestly never in my life been blown away by doctors, and yes, I realize insurance issues have a lot to do with the amount of time they spend, etc., etc. But the staff here proves that there is another way and that doctors and patients don’t need to put up with mediocre service. I sought out Dr. Burke because my husband and I became new parents by way of fost-adopt and I wanted a pediatrician who has worked with children/families from similar backgrounds. Dr. Burke is extremely knowledgeable in her field but doesn’t come off as holier than thou – she is so personable that you instantly feel like you made a friend. What really impresses us is her passion behind her work. She really actually cares about the children and families(community) she serves. I know that sounds like a no brainer, but not many doctors with whom I’ve come into contact make you feel that way – it seems like it is just a business for many. Dr. Burke takes her time with her patients and looks at the whole child. She has extensive knowledge on the effects of childhood trauma and how best to support the family. I’ll never forget that on our first visit with her, she suggested that we look into mindfulness meditation as a way of helping our daughter cope with stress. I never would have expected that to come from a traditionally trained doctor. But then again, that is clearly not all she is. She is a great person with a great passion that comes through in her work. And behind every great woman is a… great staff(you thought I was going to say man – ha ha ;). We’ve seen Dr. Hemmer a couple of times and have been quite impressed with her as well – we just haven’t built a rapport with her yet. She is very personable and caring too. And I just can’t say enough about the nurses, assistants, front desk, etc. I have always been greeted warmly over the phone and in person and they make my daughter feel so special. Even though we sometimes leave their office with tears and screams(because of shots), I just can’t help feeling as though we hit a goldmine. I will forever be grateful for them!

Its November and open enrollment for my profession at a local bay area hospital. I have a 3 year old son and needed to find a San Francisco Pediatrician due to the change in the insurance plan. Finding a Pediatrician is probably one of the most difficult things to do in this city. I Unilocaled and sought reviews of Bay Area doctors, no luck. Some physicians had satisfactory reviews on Unilocal or nothing at all. From my experience the clinics are impacted and you are shuffled in like cattle. One Physician that stood out and was not reviewed was Nadine Burke. I was curious and I called her clinic with the possibility of making an appointment to interview her in person. I was looking for someone engaging, friendly, knowledgeable, up to date in her specialty, and patient/family advocate. She won me over. Couple of days later I needed to get my son vaccinated and my primary pediatric clinic told me he could not get the vaccine for three weeks because I needed an appointment due to the overwhelming patient load they were experiencing. I was frustrated and called Dr. Burke’s office explaining my situation. My insurance would not kick in until the first of the year but bring him in and we can make a same day appointment. I was sold, sorry for the long review but needed to back up my story and experience.
