I really wanted to like this jewelry boutique. However the pieces are way overpriced, even for being custom and handcrafted, and the customer service is atrocious. A few months ago I was gifted a pod cuff from Mashka, which I liked. I wanted to buy something similar for my sister as a gift for Christmas. A few weeks ago I went to the boutique on Grant. I had no idea the cost, but after looking at the pieces I found a cuff for my sister. I was expecting to pay $ 100; $ 150 at the max, but when they told me the cuffs cost $ 240 – 280 I had to I ask about the return policy. The woman checking me out skirted my question and reassuringly told me I could get a gift receipt but never alerted me that they do not accept returns or give refunds. My sister didn’t like the cuff because she felt like it was an awkward fit. I was initially given a written receipt with no return policy, so I went online saw that they will refund pieces within 14 days. Unbeknownst to me, and not clearly stated on their website, that is for web orders only. When I went to return the cuff I was treated like a criminal and made to feel ashamed for even broaching returning the piece. I left a message for the manager who never called me back. I emailed the customer service email for online orders and someone responded but basically she just emailed me a credit card receipt with their return policy, which I never even received after initially purchasing the cuff. It clearly states they do not accept returns or refund and they will only accept exchanges or store credit within 10 days of purchase. I wish the girl who sold me the cuff would have told me that point blank at the time of purchase when I asked her, instead of being deceitful. I wouldn’t have wasted $ 300 on a piece of jewelry my sister may or may not have liked. I feel duped and taken advantage of. They have since changed their website to more clearly state their return policy, but never gave me the courtesy of letting me return the cuff based on that initial misleading information. I will not return to this boutique and will be letting my friends and family know about my poor experience there. I will also be filing a complaint with the bureau of better business. PS after wearing the cuff I was gifted for a few months, the brilliant silver has turned to a dull, muted grey. Not something I would expect from a $ 300 piece of jewelry.

I live very close to this shop but never bought anything until this Christmas. My husband brought me to this store and let me pick one. I got a very pretty necklace and had a lot of good comments! Also I love to help local business. Now I love this store.

Beautiful, beautiful things. I was sent over from Alchimia on Columbus Avenue to pick up a necklace they(or rather, she) was making for me on the spot. An absolutely gorgeous & quality custom made piece of jewelry made for me right then & there? When does that happen?! Operative words being gorgeous & quality. This is not like having a bead necklace put together for you by a sidewalk vendor on fishermen’s wharf. No shade, just an extremely befitting stark clarification. When I asked about the shop having a different name from the Columbus shop(Alchimia), the sales associate told us that North Beach has an ordinance that dictates that a business on Columbus has to have an Italian name. So, Alchimia was born. My gold initial necklace is now one of my favorite things. The shop is full of exquisite pieces. Unique & stunning. 5 stars.

Loved Mashka, had a great experience in the shop over the weekend. CJ was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the jewelry and made us feel right at home. She gave us a great glimpse into the local art scene and we will definitely be back to her for more lovely jewelry and advice next time we are in town!

I absolutely love the unique and gorgeous designs at Mashka, however, the quality is extremely poor — especially for the price. I was gifted a beautiful metal flower shaped necklace which discolored within a matter of months. What started as gold is now a dark gray, almost black. Even more disappointing is the lack of customer service I received regarding the issue — I was never even given the courtesy of a response despite my multiple messages and voicemails. This is too bad because the idea behind this jewelry is very charming, but I do feel ripped off.

Picky when it comes to jewelry for my wife, I’m always on the lookout for things that are modern and different. No chain jewelers or big box stores for my sweety. I stumbled into Mashka and fell in lust/love with several of their pieces, all made on premises. The ones with the semi-precious stones encased in an uneven silver«pod» knocked me out. I don’t know what to call it, other than beautiful and unique. There are bracelets, bangles, rings, necklaces in this series. All with different stones and different colorways. Finally, I decided to pick up one of these beauties for my wife’s birthday. The staff was great — she had to be very patient with me and my inability to pick just the right one. She listened to me and ultimately showed me the bracelet that ended up making my wife’s day. Yeah!!! There are lots of other beautiful creations here to chose from, so I’ll be back for more.

I am SO fussy when it comes to things, especially spending money on ‘luxury’ items. Everything in this store is timeless, yet ‘modern’, with gorgeous colors, beaded strands of necklaces seem to be her specialty. The colors of the stones are of the rainbow, and set in classic gold or silver. All ages would find something they like here. The price point is very reasonable for the quality of her work! Highly recommend checking her out!

I really appreciate the craftsmanship and choice of stones that go into the pieces that Mashka makes. I could easily have spent the rent in this place, buying up distinctive pieces of every variety, mostly sterling silver, which I hold closest to my heart and wear most often. The funny thing is, I actually fell in love with something vermeil, which is gold over silver. I couldn’t resist the combination of the greenish-gold pyrite stones hanging delicately from a twisted golden ear wire, like mottled fruit on a gleaming tree branch. I’m adding Mashka to my SF must-sees, because I love me some adornment.

Unique pieces and affordable. Went here this weekend and my wife freaked out! She loved everything and is difficult to shop for. Will definitely be back. And its always a plus that you get to meet the artist. Mashka was charming and the store is cool :)
