Very good always love coming here… everyone is friendly, I don’t know there names but they are nice to me and family. The turkey pesto wish is so good, and the ice teas too. And madelines. Mmmmm

I started working in Noe Valley at the beginning of the year. I am in Martha & Bros almost daily. They always offer service with a smile, a warm ‘Hello” and the food is great. The atmosphere is cozy and family like. Lots of familiar faces which speaks volumes In my book. The best part is they know what I want to order because I’m always there. Talk about great customer service.

Martha & Bros. Coffee Co. gave us the support we needed for our Pop Up Street Store for homeless people in Civic Center. I wrote the owners a letter to ask them if they would donate 2 portable gallons of coffee for our volunteers. A group from the San Francisco Public Library, Lava Mae and independent residents of SF and the East Bay put this together. They said yes because they wanted to support the work we were doing to help people who are living on the street and in tents. At the Street Store, we worked for 7 hours straight and we needed that coffee they donated big time! We gave out clothes, shoes, water bottles, hygiene supplies, hats, scarves, gloves… coats and luggage out to over 350 people. So know that when you go here, you are supporting a community oriented business who actually cares. We are very grateful for their support. This was a one time thing, and we will approach another local coffee business next time we do it. Thank you again! about our project The Street Store 3.0 is a free store for homeless people. We are proud to be partnered with Lava Mae and the San Francisco Public Library.

Lattes & mochas are terrible!!! I ordered a peppermint mocha and pumpkin pie latte the two times I was here, and both drinks were extremely bitter and gross! You would think by the sound of the name that the drinks would be on the sweeter side… But no. I don’t think they made my drink right Especially the PUMPKINPIE latte!!! The banana nut cake tasted okay. Not fresh… Maybe if they offer to heat it up :/ However, I do enjoy the atmosphere! –free wifi –good amount of tables and chairs(inside and outside) –large variety of food and drinks –parking situation isn’t bad. I’ve heard the juices were good… But again, the hot drinks are TERRIBLE! And small is quite small!!! Another con is that there are no outlets!!!

Great café with good lattes and delicious flavored lattes(they had a white chocolate marshmallow one before that was a bit sweet, but tasted amazing). The staff are always very friendly. Lots of places to sit and it’s generally quiet.

Loved this place! Came on weekday afternoon and enjoyed the sun with my regular café au lait. I order chicken pesto sandwich on chiabata bread and wasn’t disappointed. People working here were relaxed and happy which is a wonderful thing for local coffee shop.

Super friendly staff, fast wifi, and best espresso in town… What more do you need from a coffee shop?

This is a nice little café. I study/work here, sometimes meet friends, get espresso-ized. That’s pretty much what everyone else is doing here too. Pros: Wide variety of food and drink. Drinks are consistent Easy parking/muni access Good lighting Clean bathroom Staff doesn’t care if you camp out Customers all seem pretty nice… well except for me. :) Cons: Not many plugs(4) and they are all in the same place so either get there first or come with a full charge You will get paper/everything to go unless you ask specifically for a plate/mug. Then you might maybe get a tiny eye roll, because well… more work for staff. They might(ok, they surely will) insist they don’t have items which are within eye sight, so pair your words with visual cues to maximize communication(yeah, language barriers mostly.) Overall, nice little non-elitist neighborhood café with friendly/non-hipster patrons.

I stopped by recently, as I had to meet up with a client and they suggested this place. The atmosphere was good– a nice open space with lots of tables and a relaxed feel. The staff was friendly and made my vanilla latte quick. They also have a bunch of pastries and sandwiches that looked good, wish I would have had the appetite for one of them! My vanilla latte was alright. A little too much sweetener or something… it just wasn’t quite what I was expecting. It’s definitely a neighborhood place with a lot of locals/regulars who pop in.

I think I’ve finally figured out why their coffee tastes like mud. They grind their coffee WAY too fine for drip. Like… finer than espresso fine. You would think a coffee shop would know better. Their food is alright though.

Nice quiet atmosphere and lots of seats. Great selection of baked goods. However their«small» drinks are kiddy sized at grown up prices. If you want a true small get a medium. Also, my cappuccino last time I stopped by was burned and disgusting. Probably the worst I’ve had. In the past they’ve been ok so I would like to think this was an anomaly. The 24th St. location is better in my opinion.

Noe Valley isn’t The Mission. This is not a Hip coffee shop. There are not dramatic south-facing windows, minimalist counters, or single-origin pour-over coffees. The baristas have normal haircuts. This pleases me. Martha’s is completely unpretentious. They serve tasty, medium-roast coffee. They stock about 50 different pastries in addition to made-to-order bagel sandwiches. They’ve got a big ol’ fridge of juice. Everything is reasonably priced. I also happen to hate the chai, but everything else I’ve had is good. Service is lovely and the space is warm and friendly — perfect for reading, studying/working, or writing. There are plenty of tables and benches outside for those of us with canine companions. Martha’s is what it is and doesn’t aspire to be anything it isn’t, and I love it for that. It will not blow your mind, but it will always meet your expectations. Unless you order their chai and hate it and then forget that you hate it and order it again and kick yourself.

Decent coffee, but what really keeps me coming back is the speed and efficiency of their checkout process. Super friendly, and fast. It’s great!

Great coffee in quiet area. I see lots of locals come in and out. I love the coffee, however, the medium coffee is the size of a small so that to me is very disappointing. I don’t understand what has happened to all the coffee places. They raised the prices and made the servings a lot smaller. I’m better off making my own coffee, with my own big serving for a lot cheaper. That is my only compliant. Size does matter when it comes to coffee.

I love Martha’s! I have been a customer for 20 plus years. I think they have the best coffee and service and AMBIANCE of any coffee shop in the city. And no attitude! Yvonne is amazing, friendly and remembers the type of coffee I drink every time. And they are fast!

While waiting for a table at Lovejoy’s last weekend, the boyfriend and I decided it would be a good idea to look for a place to sit down and have some coffee before tea… because of course that’s a great thing to do. We had a pleasant walk down Church Street, and I was pulled over to Martha’s, simply because my boyfriend saw the sign that said«coffee» and was drawn to it like a moth to a lamp. Although it’s a bit difficult to tell where the line was(I noticed a lot of disgruntled customers, and we weren’t quite sure where to stand so we wouldn’t be in everyone’s way), I was pleasantly distracted by the menu and the beautiful layout of plentiful pastries in front of me. So close, so far… so many choices of scrumptious-looking coffee cakes in generous portions! Oh, yes. I am down. I’m not a coffee person. I’m a tea person. Thus, I wasn’t actually there for the coffee. I ordered a hot apple cider, which they were out of… but what I loved about the service is that they offered to make me one from the ingredients they happened to have around them. Most places would say, «Eh, well, we’re out of our batch, guess that’s too bad,» but she grabbed some apple juice and started fishing out spices to make me a single serving of the stuff. Very nice. It’s hard not to appreciate an action like that — to me, it says that they can probably get you the stuff you want, or something damn close to it, because they know what they’re doing. Lovely! Boyfriend got a cup of coffee. He’s not a fan of dark roast, but it sounded like he was pleased enough with it. I got a slice of the caramel apple coffee cake, and oh, it was awesome. So moist! So yummy! What an unexpected, unique flavor! It was like having apple pie and coffee cake at the same time! Overall, it was a great experience. I’d come back the next time I’m waiting for Lovejoy’s again… mainly because I want to try all those pastries.

Pros: Coffee is the game and they wrote the instructions. I bought a pound of the Martha’s Blend coffee, which was supposed to be the boldest. It was smooth and not as acidic as other bold coffees. Staff is friendly/approachable I bought a Lox bagel and Sausage bagel. I can’t give them a lot of credit because it does not take any special skill hooking up a bagel sandwich. It was good though. Cons: regulars seem to get priority and/or special attention. It is much in the same way where you are talking to an acquaintance and your best friend walks in. Personally, it didn’t bother me because I’m not local and I know what its like to be a regular elsewhere. Also, I was in no particular hurry any which way. Verdict: if i’m near the area again I’ll get a pound. sm
