Huge fan of this place. Came here a few years ago and got to meet George, the owner. He shared that he uses the restaurant as a test kitchen for his catering company. As a result the menu changes regularly but is consistently uncomplicated, fresh, inventive, and delicious. On last nights dining experience I met the new restaurant manager, Mark, and had the privilege of trying his coffee liqueur based cocktail which we named the Nicole Kidman after Eyes Wide Shut. Try it!

Randomly stopped here on my way to the airport and I’m glad I did. Food was top notch, but the owner/chef [George] was here and have some of the best service I’ve ever had. I ordered a salmon poke, but he upgraded me to some Arctic char that they had = amazballs. I also got the calamari and it came with this arugula aioli that was super fresh and crisp tasting. Go here. You will not be disappointed. It’s also a great stop on the way to the airport if you are heading out. If you have a chance to meet George you won’t be disappointed.

Called in a late order and George, the owner, absolutely went above and beyond to accommodate us. Food was excellent, and the customer service was out of this world. Will be visiting frequently!

Went with a friend for dinner the other day – I ordered chicken Alfredo pasta(it was alright, not out of this world — I would say probably in between Cheesecake Factory-quality and frozen Lean Cuisine-quality). My friend ordered chicken curry over rice. …and they ran out of rice! Instead, they substituted the rice [it was suppose to be ginger-infused rice, by the way. ginger. infused. rice. which sounds pretty amazing, doesn’t it?]… with… good olé extra veggies. So it was just chicken curry with veggies and even more veggies. And the veggies turned out to be mostly lettuce. So in the end, it was more like a chicken salad soaked in curry. We ordered garlic fries to add carb to her carb-less meal. Fries tasted like the ones I use to bake when I was little — my mom bought them frozen from Smart & Finals. However, garlic makes everything taste good, so I can’t really complain. –1 point for the frozen-tasting fries but +1 for delicious crispy garlic pieces sprinkled on top. The fries weren’t exactly very warm when it was served. So… huge sad face. Overall, the food was okay. What’s not okay is when they charged my friend and me for 2 chocolate chip cookies when it was«on the house» for the people who were sitting nearby. Really now? Really? … Really? .

Enjoyed the food, drinks and most of all — the ambience — it was perfect for the Christmas party! George and his team were amazing with balancing drink orders, passing appetizers around and ensuring dinner was prepped well for everyone to enjoy. I highly recommend this venue!

Horrible — I went there alone and sat at the bar area to order a burger and soup. After thirty five minutes I was wondering what was going on? I asked the waiter what happened to my food and he informed me that it was coming up. There were only three other people in the restaurant. So I told the waiter to cancel the order and that I would just eat elsewhere. The waiter chased me outside and apologized, he was very nice about it. However, it shouldnt take more than 30 mins to serve someone their food in an empty restaurant. I wouldnt recomend this place. Bad service, food is mediocre, only good thing is it’s convenience is a secluded area.

This place is great for lunch(I haven’t been here for dinner yet), which is convenient, because there aren’t many other choices around this somewhat sleepy residential area of San Francisco. Friendly service, good décor, excellent cleanliness, fast and free Wi-Fi, two HD Tvs in the bar area, and, of course, excellent Mediterranean food make this place worth stopping by. Mangiare is just off the freeway and convenient if you are heading in either direction on Hwy. 101 and is definitely a good place to stop if you’re starving after a plane ride into SFO. One small drawback is that finding parking during lunch hours on weekdays can be challenging. You may need to walk a block or so. If you aren’t in the mood to dine in and enjoy the atmosphere, you can just stop in to the bakery/café area of the restaurant and pick up something to go. You might want to bring it down the street for a picnic in the Candlestick recreation area and enjoy it while taking in some good views of the bay and air traffic arriving and departing from SFO.

Annoying. We’ve been coming here since they first opened and here for lunch 3x a week, pretty much regulars. My coworker and I don’t eat much so we always call in to split a sandwich. We would just eat at the restaurant bc we only have a half hour. We always tip too. So recently we were told over the phone when we called in a Sammy, that they were going to charge us a 2.00 splitting fee for the sandwich if we ate there. I guess I wouldn’t mind it if that was the policy from the beginning, but how are you gonna tell us after almost 2 years of doing the same routine. We’ve seen all the different waiters/waitresses come and go and used to enjoy it here. I dunno, I just don’t think it’s right to start a random charge after we’ve supported the business for a while now. After they told us that, we haven’t been back. Too expensive anyway.

This is one of the best deals in the city. Kind of hidden away, but great location. Food is great for a better price. Come and check it.

There have been very few places this SF native has been to and walked away wanting to come back again to have another culinary experience that matched the first encounter. The food was incredible, everything tasted fresh, and delicious! The menu was simple but elegantly pr dented and perfectly cooked! The wine was a little lacking in a list, but made up for it with patience, and asking George what he thought would be delicious according to my taste and palate preference. He paired it well with the wine I posted a picture of. The décor was very pleasant and the waitress from Italy was wonderful. Endearing and very polite! I never made it to the desert menu as I stuffed myself I. Everything g else and wine. That is my next trip. Buen Giusto!

Five stars is a very rare score that I give with extreme caution. That said Mangiare earned this score with top notch service, excellent food, and atmosphere that only added to the experience. I came to this restaurant as a guest at a wedding reception, I was impressed. The waitstaff regularly kept fresh, cold ice water and wine stocked on the table. Each course was served with meticulous attention to detail. All guests were served promptly and my needs were attended to. The staff was professional, and the host was made sure everything ran smoothly. The four course meal was served with excellent timing, the bisque was a perfect temperature, with excellent flavor. The steak was a great cut and was prepared to perfection. With most restaurants in the 21st century you either get great food and bad service or the inverse. Generally I do my best to cut out early, with this entertaining reception and impressive service I enjoyed staying to the conclusion. Mangiare gave me hope that great restaurants still exist.

Highly recommend it! Great location and fine atmosphere. The service from the staff was wonderful, they catered to our every need. We were out here celebrating a wedding party for one of our best friends. The food was in small portions but was totally delicious. The Chilean Sea Bass did not disappoint as did their steaks and bisque. Everything was fresh and cooked just right. Plenty of parking at nearby open lot made it easier to come and enjoy this wonderful place. We’re so lucky to have found it and would definitely be back again!

Mangiare is AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING. I and my husband had our wedding reception dinner there just this week. I can’t thank Mangiare enough for making a beautiful reception happen for us. They went extra length just to accommodate our wishes. The owner, George is so wonderful. Have I said just how wonderful the owner George and Mangiare are yet!!! I can’t say it enough!!! The restaurant made the most magical night of our lives happen!

Had a delicious Kefta lamb and beef kabob along with a lovely glass of Cabernet. Both the owner George and manager Rogelio were very gracious. I enjoyed my meal in their comfortable setting and surely will be back.

Who needs a man, when you can have this little guy as your date: ? In the last several months, my priorities have definitely changed. Instead of being lured into the new, hottest restaurants by its enticing menu, I now look for restaurants with an outdoor patio that I can bring my furbaby with me. I came across Mangiare after a keyword search for«outdoor patio» and saw they had a wine and sushi bar. SOLD! The excitement wore off when I realized that there’s no outdoor patio as indicated in some of the reviews but just 3 lone tables outdoor and there was no longer a sushi bar but a sea bar. Oh well, at least I have the company of my little furry guy. Opening last February 2014, Mangiare is located in the desolate Candlestick Point, in the Ashton Luxury Apartment Building. Even though this area is dubbed as «Hunter’s Point», I saw a Maserati, and a slew of brand new benzos, beemers, and audis parked in front so this area is definitely up and coming. Perusing Mangiare’s Unilocal pics and menu, the concept is a hodge podge of things. They use to serve burgers, pizzas, tapas, and sushi, but these items are no longer on the menu. Currently, their menu has New American, Italian, Mediterranean, and Peruvian dishes: ceviches, crudos, kebabs, truffle fries, caesar salad, and a handful of pasta options. There’s also a café deli. Everything is reasonably priced with main entrees averaging $ 15. Wine and beer only. (Note to management: please upload sample menus on your website. And, please bring back the sushi menu!) We started with Stripped Seabass Crudo($ 8): and the Salmon Mi Sancho($ 8): . Both were simple, fresh, and light. The Salmon Mi Sancho would have been easier to eat if it was sliced, then torched since we were only given chopsticks at the time. We also ordered the Fried Calamari($ 9): which was perfectly battered and tender. For mains, Mr. NSS(the 3rd wheel) ordered the Chicken Marsala($ 15): which was deliciously satisfying. The skin was crisp and the chicken was über tender. The marsala sauce was rich and decadent, and perfect for sopping up with the complimentary bread. I had the Portobello & Shiitake Mushroom Ravioli w/pomodoro sauce($ 13) which I thought was just OK. It tasted store bought as the pasta skin didn’t have that fresh, toothsome chew to it. But for the price and portion, I can’t complain. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, and even offered a bowl of water for Tater Tot. As other reviews indicated, there’s definitely issues in the kitchen. We were one of two tables in the entire restaurant, and it took a while to get our food. I didn’t get my main until Mr. NSS was finished with his Chicken Marsala. They also ran out of ingredients(pasta for chicken marsala, uni for a crudo dish, and mint for sake cocktails). However, they were nice enough to discount our bill. A spacious and trendy restaurant with a sea bar(former sushi bar), and a wine bar, Mangiare is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I felt like we were in the suburbs because of how lax everything was. Bonus points for being dog-friendly! Street parking was a bit challenging since it’s shared with a nearby office building, and other residents. After dinner, we took a stroll and just fell in love with the secluded area(just one block away from the ocean). After peering through the beautiful Ashton apartments like creepers and seeing lots of furbabies walking around, we talked about moving into one until we found out how much they’re going for. A studio is $ 3k+/month and 2 bedrooms is $ 8k/month!!! Oh San Francisco, I hate you sometimes. *Sets up tent outside the Ashton*

I’ve live in the Bay Area for only a short time, but within it I’ve ate & dined at the some of the best out there. Hands down the food is & service @Mangiare is absolutely amazing!!! I would eat here everyday if I could! Chef George is fun, energetic, and even more so down too earth. Very rarely you encounter someone who’s extremely passionate about their craft!!! I love this place!!!

Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service, reasonable prices and delicious food. Enjoyed both the veggie and chicken paninis as well as a chicken salad with my party. Everything was delicious and the paninis were a great deal with fries and a salad. The veggie panini was the big winner — amazing flavor. Salad was fresh with just the right amount of dressing. Restaurant interior is stylish and includes a counter for quick take out orders. A sunny patio has outdoor seating. Definitely recommend for a satisfying meal! Support this new local restaurant!

We took out bunch of food for my family member’s home party in the same building where this restaurant is located. This place is located at the 1st floor of a beautiful apartment with open space outside seatings. At night, it’s pretty good mode inside, playing slow modern songs in dark lightning. It has a good vibe with friendly staff, and the food was delicious! The chef, the owner of the restaurant is also very friendly and he helped us to bring food to our room. Since the location is not in downtown or near by main street, it’s very quiet outside and less crowded which I do like about this place. It reminded me that I was in vacation in Hawaii. I’ll come back with my husband next time for nice dinner and drinks at bar.

Right now I’m a fan because this is convenient. The food has been tasty. The sushi is delicious. We ordered the Salami Plate, the Mangiare roll, a Japanese beer, and a California Merlot. Jeffrey was real nice and offered different tastings before I picked my wine for the evening. He was attentive and even turned on the Warriors game for us. My boyfriend really enjoyed the sushi. We are hoping for a few things in the near future: –Wine stems that are rimless. You can’t call yourself a wine bar with the kind of glasses we drank out of. –A larger selection of wine. –Better/stronger wasabi. I’d pay for the real stuff. Service here is great. Food is delicious. I’m excited to go back this week.
