As a foodie my places are flea markets, off the grid and farmers markets. So this past Sunday my friend and I ventured out to Treasure Island for a flea market. When walking around and exploring the variety of booths I came across this «Sweet Gem» I mean Mama Laine Sweet’s. When approaching the booth I was greeted right away by Laine herself. I immediately wanted to order everything but due to a nut allergy I ordered 2– Frosted lemon cookies and 2– Graham Cracker w/chocolate and apples. Really yummy(melts in your mouth), made from scratch and also reasonably priced for $ 1.50each. For Mama Laine’s location, sweet treats for that day or even special event check her out on Facebook; FYI: She also informed me if I give her a call ahead of time she can make any cookie for me.

Time: 4:17pm/53°F cloudy Purpose: Attending the JOAT event at JLS. Set-up: Basically 6ft conference folding table with acrylic display case fill with cookies and banner outter edge of table. Staff: Husband and wife duo mid 50’s talkative very friendly has samples to offer. They stated that cookies were made this morning at 5am I believe it too. Cleanliness: Clean enough for what it is not a fingerprint on display case. Eats/Drinks: I got me a apple caramel and one molasses(gf) $ 1.50 ea. I really like the apple cookie as so soft moist and delicious. The gf molasses didn’t really care but since I bought it I’ll try it. It’s comparison is that to a ginger snap without the ginger flavor texture wise no different. Products: Cookies of 5 flavors around 2in’ in diameter or less. Seasonal flavors can be had also but that’s if you can catch them somewhere. Punch Line: Made with real ingredients, moderate pricing, friendly&funny owners, puts Mrs. Field’s to shame. Final Thoughts: It’s better than the package versions from Keebler or Nabisco, those are made with preservatives anyway. For the price you can go wrong at least you get to meet the person that made it and knows it’s not from an assembly line.
