Seriously one of the best sandwich places in the city! My favorite is the roast beef and cheddar, but my co-worker swears by the veggie. Bread is fresh… all the ingredients are good. I wish they would use other delivery services instead of postmates… that is my only criticism. Oh and their calamari salad — YUM!

This place was so cool, felt like I was in Italy. The sandwiches were delicious. The meatball is by far the best meatball sandwich I have ever eaten.

Grab a number at the counter and a menu to read while you’re in line. Lucca’s does not disappoint. Ordering off of the sandwich menu is helpful if you’re in a rush, but don’t be scared to grab something custom. Everything is fresh including the acme bread. The staff is friendly and will have your food out in a flash! While you wait for the sandwich to be made, grab some chips, a beverage, or some home made pasta for dinner! P. s. They use a microwave to heat up sandwiches so don’t expect a tuna melt and stick with the other delicious options :)

I’ve been coming here for 25 years and the deli has not lost its fastball. I love all the Italian sandwiches here with the freshest and best tasting meats and fillings. My favorite is actually the tuna fish on a dutch crunch. wow. Busy deli with friendly service that are helpful and professional. Grab some sandwiches and sides and walk to the marina green for a nice lunch.

One of the best sandwiches I had in awhile. Orgasmic. Wide selection of artisan breads with various cured meats dangling across the counter top, you know this place isn’t playing around soon as you walk in. I ordered the Pat Burell, and it was so good that I almost went back in to order another one except I had to get back to work and didn’t have time. Horseradish in the Pat really made the sandwich awesome. I will definitely go back when I’m in the area.

Best Italian sandwich I have ever had by far! Go inside, grab a number at the counter, and wait for your number to be called to order. We shared the #1 Italian combo sandwich($ 9) on rosemary foccacia. It was loaded with salame, ham, and cheese. The foccacia was the perfect texture and you could really taste the rosemary. The serving size was huge. When it comes to sandwiches I normally don’t get Italian but this was exceptional and should be the standard for all Italian sandwiches. The deli also sells pasta, cheese, chicken, salads, etc. There’s some benches outside so you can enjoy your sandwich. I’m definitely coming back here again!

Back again and whole new experience! Fast, friendly service, ingredients fresh and tasty, generous portions of everything! From my earlier 3 star to a 5 star… thank you! Still no seating, ha. Tasty deli if you’re in the neighborhood.

Lucca Deli, 9⁄27 @3:30pm To the older gentleman with the silver hair pulled back into a ponytail: As someone with over 15 years of restaurant experience(including a deli), don’t mistake this review for someone«trying» to tell you how to do your job; because I’m actually telling you how you should do your job. If a customer asks you, is something«safe» for a pregnant woman to eat, don’t respond by saying«we aren’t your doctor» and«that isn’t a fair question to ask us». Those are aggressive and attacking statements and have no place in customer service; especially with your tone and attitude. The appropriate response is, «according to the medical literature, it’s recommended that pregnant women avoid raw/uncooked food, meats with nitrates and nitrites, and anything uncured». So, *blank* item meets that criteria or doesn’t. However, the final choice to consume it is yours. NOONE would mistake a deli employee for a medical professional, nor hold you accountable as a medical professional. Now, I’m going to guess(based on your assertive attitude behind the counter) that you’ve probably been there awhile, and as such have probably been asked that question at least once in the past. So, it should have been your responsibility as an informed business of selling food, to educate yourself on the various dietary needs and restrictions of your customer base. And given the half dozen strollers I saw outside your establishment, I’m sure you’ve been asked before.

It is ASGOODASITGETS. Itsa a deli of the 1st order of magnitude. Was passing by and recalled its been a while since I have partaken the wondrous tasty treats and great service that Lucca Delicatessen serves up. Taking home some of the fresh(meat) ravioli, a large container of Marinara sauce, sharp cheddar cheese(red skin), very hot salami(molto caldo), prosciutto(mama mia!). The service guys are a delight, they deliver the service befitting the type of tasty stuff @ Lucca. Lucca Delicatessen is a local treasure !

The Italian deli. The aromas… sauce, cutlets, charcuterie. The vibe… neighborhood, familia, hustle bustle. The goal… really good food. The Italian Deli game is wickedly strong here. The guys are professional & efficient, too. Come in, take a number, & watch the magic happen while you wait your turn. Whether you’re looking for a sandwich, lunch from the case, or fixings to take home for future meals, they have all the goods to meet all your cravings. Especially noteworthy, in addition to their sandwiches, are their meatballs. Delizioso! You should grab some ravioli, too. Especially the turkey ravioli. It understandably gets crazy busy, it’s a tiny place. Squeeze in & be patient. Also, make sure not to miss the specials of the day. They’re posted just to the left of the entrance. Remember, all the Lucca’s in SF are not affiliated w one another. But, they are all awesome. 5 stars.

awesome little shop! i came here the first time to pick up some ravioli’s for dinner — got the porcini ones(frozen) and meatball raviolis(fresh) to pair with marinara and pesto sauces(housemade). they turned out to be so good. im from st. louis and am usually accustomed to toasted(fried) raviolis, and never really get them in restaurants, but i was so please with these! great flavor and takes about 8 minutes to make. 2nd time — tried their awesome looking sandwiches! i got the muffaleta on foccacia, and got my gf the italian combo on foccacia. delicious. deeeeelicious! will be back to try more sandwiches for sure, and possibly their eggplant parmesan which looks quite nomsies. great little shop — wish they stayed open longer, and wasnt so far away from fidi/soma!

I’ve never been to Italy so I can’t say I know what an authentic Italian deli is like nor what an authentic Italian sandwich tastes like, but Lucca’s sandwiches are pretty amazing and the deli is how I imagine Italian delis to be in my head. It’s small space-wise, but the place is pretty much overflowing with meat, cheese, pre-packaged meals, snacks and chocolate/candy. I stopped by around 11am on a weekday and there were only a handful of people, so there was pretty much no wait. Grab a number and decide what you want to get while you wait for your number to be called. Some of the sandwiches specify a kind of bread, but I’m pretty sure you can request any bread you want. The sandwiches are about $ 10 and they’re pretty filling/sizable. They definitely don’t skimp on the meat! I got: –THE #1ITALIANCOMBO($ 9) — 4.5÷5 [salame, ham, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, italian peppers, mayo, mustard] I asked for mine without mayo and got it on Dutch crunch. Quality meat and sooo flavorful! I loved the Dutch crunch as well. Rather than extra crunchy like other Dutch crunch I’ve had that scrapes the roof of my mouth, the top of theirs was firm with a slight chew to it, and the inside part was soft and fluffy. I didn’t eat my sandwich right away though, so the mustard made parts of the bread soggy :(Honestly, the sandwich had so much flavor from the meats already that I think it didn’t actually need any mustard, so if you’re not planning on eating your sandwich right away, I’d recommend leaving out any spreads/dressings. My friend got THEPATBURRELL($ 11), which is their roast beef sandwich. I didn’t try it, but he said it was really good! Not sure how busy it gets around lunchtime, but you can call in and order ahead to avoid waiting.

The best Italian sub sandwich I have ever had! Our entire party said the same of their sandwiches! Funky old style Italian deli that has been around for ever. Their is an obvious commitment to made from scratch, quality food. They roast their meats in house, source the best of local bakeries breads and rolls and import the finest Italian meats and cheeses. I am Italian and grew up in New England eating ‘grinders’ — I always have told my husband about how good they were and have been searching in California for something to match those flavor memories. The search is over! And my expectations exceeded! I got the #1 Italian combo without mayo and mustard subbing oil and vinegar instead! It has salami, mortadella and ham, I added capicola. It also has provolone, lettuce and tomato and Italian peppers — served on a soft Italian roll. It was divine! I can’t wait to go back. Our party also had the Pat Burrell roast beef and horseradish sandwich, the meatball sub and the turkey with cranberry sandwich — all 5 stars!

Closest I have seen to an Italian Deli. There are plenty of cheeses that are not a funny colour and cured meats. I got two sandwiches to go, meatball and Calabrese. The meatballs are huge but beware the Calabrese… it is hot and carries a two chilli warning Both were good.

Small deli with great prices in SF with big sandwiches and delicious foods = long lines! Be sure to grab a number when you walk in, and/or order online ahead! Not much space inside to stand, but you can sit outside on their benches to eat. 1. Smoked turkey make your own sandwich $ 7.99, with fresh bread(tons of options including acme!) — so tasty, glad they offer a cranberry sauce option 2. Caprese salad — also super good and highly recommended, loved the freshness and sweetness of the small cherry tomatoes and the soft tender mozzarella balls. By weight. Didn’t see any mozzarella di bufala though guys, sorry haha 3. Fresh fruit salad — watermelon, melon, grapes, pineapple. All super fresh but a ended up a bit on the pricey side Other things I need to buy next time: — handmade biscotti or chocolate covered biscotti — handmade cannoli if they any left — prosciutto — fresh focaccia that they have — other grocery items: flatbread crackers, cheese, pasta, or any of the other variety of Italian items they have, yum

I totally love this small packed deli in Cow Hollow. It’s sensory overload for sure. Been bookmarked for awhile and finally got to pick up a sammie from here a few weeks ago. There wasn’t much of a wait when I stopped by. The guys here are friendly too. The guy helping me got me to decide on the Pork-etta. I totally love RoliRoti’s and Split Bread’s porchetta. Lucca’s version is standard from what we SF foodies know — arugula, olive oil, light salt & pepper, but what makes theirs different is imported Italian porchetta, AND it’s thinly sliced. This may be why it’s much less greasy as well. I wish there was some like skin crackling pieces because that’s always the best part when I get RoliRoti’s! The ciabatta had salt crystals on it though, so it made the sandwich a little too salty. But other than that the contents were solid and flavorful. I can tell things here are fresh as well! $ 9 for a filling lunch in Cow Hollow, a little unexpected indeed. If I was nearby again, I would definitely come back to try a different sandwich, or pick up some Italian goodies. 3.5 rounded up.

It’s a staple in the marina. A legit sandwich shop and Italian deli. I could spend hours in this tiny place looking at all the cool products. Grab a number when you walk in. I always order the Caprese sandwich with prosciutto. It’s a $ 10 sandwich but the ingredients are top notch and the sandwich is huge. Great place to grab sandwiches for a picnic or hike(minimal bench seating outside makes it a to-go spot for the best experience).

The day begged for a picnic so we stopped at Lucca’s and took a number to order sandwiches on crunchy sour rolls. Custom sandwich-making allows you to select any one of at least 5 kinds of rolls, meats or cheeses finished with your favorite garnishes. Everything on request, or opt for a standard sandwich from the menu board. We noticed some tempting fresh pasta salads in the refrigerated case alongside deviled eggs and coleslaw, but we passed on those. We decided that might be kind of messy for an outdoor lunch without a guaranteed table. There is no seating in the deli itself, just a long refrigerated counter where you place your order). This is a special place from a previous era, a wonderful deli with nice, knowledgeable people working behind the counter. I make a point of visiting whenever I am in town and am never disappointed because everything is both fresh and tasty. They have wonderful pasta and sauces stored in the freezer unit if you want to take home preparations for a homecooked dinner. TIP: Don’t let the line discourage you… it’s always worth the wait.

Definitely recommend calling in for your order! Beats standing around, waiting to get your number called! We got 5 sammies, they were all pretty large, if anything I feel like I’d be content with half the sandwich! But I just wanted to try everything so we decided to split between the 5 of us. Ordered the #1 Italian Combo, The Meatball, The Caprese w/prosciutto, Americano(tasted like a thanksgiving meal in sandwich form), and The Calabrian. All were so delicious! My favorite would definitely be the The Caprese… the prosciutto, fresh mozzarella & basil combo is to die for…, but nonetheless all were so tasty! All the ingredients are so fresh and they give a very generous amount of meat & veggies(including the avocado), and just the right amount of dressing/sauce! For sure one of the cities best sandwich spots! Will be back to try more! Want to try the potato salad next time too! The best part about this place is that its all under $ 10!

What happened? Their sandwiches used to be humongo; piled high with prosciutto or some other amazing meat or veggie. Their sammies still taste great but there is hardly any meat on the dang thing… and it was $ 8.99 for that earl of a which. Their potato salad was $ 8.99 it was good but that is pretty high. The guys that work there are really great and the place still packs them in… its just that the price to value proposition aint there no mo. Sigh
