This place is over-rated. I came here for a friend’s bday celebration. My friend bought bottle service seated next to the DJ stage and it was super small. I added my name to the club guest list and waiting in line before 11pm. They purposely stall until 11pm before letting people in so everyone has to pay $ 20 for cover charge. I asked about my particular guest list since it was through a third party. The bouncer wasn’t sure if he could apply the coupon and decided to just charge my friend and I anyway. I asked about my friend’s bottle service since he still has room to add more people. The bouncer just said if you’re early and not with the party, you still need to pay $ 20 or get out of line. He was rude! If it wasn’t for my friend’s big bday celebration, I would’ve left! Then, I ordered two cocktails: a Tokyo ice tea and one shot of whiskey with gin. The total was $ 27 something! Are you freaking kidding me? That is super expensive! Almost more expensive then at Vegas clubs! That’s paying over $ 70 for two ppl with just one drink. I used to be a bartender so I know these drinks are outrageously expensive! The worst part is, the club sucked! It’s super small and crowded. The DJ doesn’t even play any hit songs and EDM comes on like at 1am. I won’t be coming back! SF has way better clubs than this crappy place.

So glad this place finally opened! From the moment you walk down you feel like you’re going down the rabbit hole as you’re immediately stimulated with art, neon lights, avante guarde décor and of course true house music. Which is awesome if you’re looking for a club that offers fresh new sets than what the other places play over and over. Staff was pretty chill and you don’t get that«club douche» vibe. People there are true club goers and actually dress up. Make no mistake if you’re looking for a true house club experience, Love + Propaganda is a solid selection.

Love this place! Came for a friends birthday, she’s really into house, me not so much. I still had an awesome time! The vibe is so fun & the bartenders make really good cocktails. Finally a club I enjoy in SF.

One of the best and most powerful Funktion One sound systems in the city and mind blowing visuals make this an excellent venue to see your favorite DJs when they roll thru SF. The overall décor is industrial but elegant. The club plays a variety of quality house music and techno. The staff is friendly and the vibe in not pretentious. This club and Audio are my go to clubs in the city.

San Francesco’s best and newest club. Union square location can’t be beat. LnP has a good looking crowd with some awesome house music bookings. Cool funktion 1 sound system and good visuals to go along. Cost of entry varies, but it’s usually around the $ 10-$ 20 range. Great option to consider for nightlife, drinks and dancing in the city.

Love this club! Music is always great and they put in amazing new lighting. Every time me and my boyfriend have gone we have a really great time getting bottle service. Everyone is super friendly and the club is packed!

This club is insane! It’s right by Union Square, so easily accessible from tons of restaurants and other bars for pregaming, and Sutter Stockton garage is literally 2 blocks away to leave your car safely. You walk in, and there’s this swanky little upper bar – totally upscale feel that’s dark and everything, but it’s got some funk and color to it and not SO black and boring as other clubs. After you grab your warm up drink from the entryway bar, you walk down the stairs to the main level where the DJ, dancefloor and larger bar. It’s busier down there at the main bar and the bartenders are fast and I never waited longer than a couple minutes for their attention which is rad. They have these really cool neon lighted signs around that say«all art is propaganda.» Main level has INCREDIBLESOUND! I have never heard a sound system like this in San Francisco or anywhere in California! If you love to dance, THISISTHEPLACEYOUWANTTOBE. I’m an avid festivalgoer and I was super impressed haha. All around the dance floor are the VIP tables with super comfy booths and I was surprised as I bumped into their bottle service girls on the floor and when I stopped by my friend’s birthday table that they are super hospitable and sweet, not snobby or cold like some other places – and they totally bring the party. I honestly don’t usually care about my server – who cares, bring me my drink please and thank you – but with these chicks were legitimately fun and fuckin cool! We had a booth by the DJ which is amazing because you are above the dance floor a little and can look out on everything and feel like you’re «with the DJ», ya know? so glad there’s finally a place like this in the city playing GOOD music and churning out some seriously good vibes. My new go-to spot!

I’m not a big Unilocal reviewer, but this place is dope! I went with some girlfriends celebrating a birthday and we had wayyyy to much fun! They have an upstairs bar and a long downstairs bar so drinks don’t take forever to get. The sound hits HARD and the lighting on the brick walls and behind the DJ booth is pretty sick. Behind the DJ booth is some sort of 3-D visual art piece. I haven’t seen anything like that before! We should’ve bought a table though because they have so many right next to the DJ! And there’s this VIP room that’s all mirrors and couches which was pretty cool. Overall– sweet brand new club, quick drinks, dope sound and cool vibes. 5 stars for me!

Irene checked my coat this evening and my buddies wanted to leave. I got my coat back no issues. She remembered my face when I told her my buddies actually wanted to stay and took my coat back. Excellent hospitality skills as I am in the industry myself.

This was Vessel. I didn’t realize that until I was entering since I’ve only been to Vessel ones. Immediately I felt disappointed because I hated Vessel and this place is nothing new. It’s the same exact as how I remember Vessel to be. Lame. The DJ obviously was enjoying his music last night but other than him, no one else was dancing. Didn’t stay here long so I can’t say much about it but I do like the restroom staff, they’re very friendly and prompt about their service.

This newly remodeled nightclub is pretty dope! Love & Propaganda got an upgrade from the ol’ Vessel. A whole group of my friends and I rolled through to see Mark Graham play all night. It’s rare to have a DJ spin for the entire time, so this was really such an amazing treat. (+) DJ booth is now in a more central area of the room, instead of in the back corner. Like! (+) Legit DJ’s. On this particular night, Mark Graham really killed it. He added some trance in with deep house, and this contrast was so unique and amazing to witness live. The guy was so cool he even fist bumped us a few times. Respect! (+) New sound system. So much BASSSSS, I could feel the reverb throughout my whole body. (+) Cool new swankified VIP rooms and a whole VIP area immediately surrounding the DJ booth. (-) Still sweaty AF in there. Is it really that difficult to add some air conditioning to a newly renovated place? It’s practically a sauna in there. Make sure you stay hydrated, especially if you plan to drink alcohol. (-) It gets really cramped on the dance floor. Not much space for Dopesauce to groove and shuffle. :( PROTIP: You might consider getting a table /bottle service so you can stay out of the sweaty crowd. DATETIP: Bring a date to see if y’all can get down to awesome music together. Or meet one here. Either way make sure it’s someone you don’t mind getting sweaty with!

Love + Propaganda isn’t just a nightclub or bar. It’s an all-sensory experience and journey that you feel immediately once you step through the doors. Upon entering, you find yourself in a cozy, peacock blue bar fully stocked with a carefully curated liquor selection that promptly affirms that this is not your typical nightclub. A healthy variety of epicurean booze is available for your enjoyment. Definitely some great scotch up there like Lagavulin 16, Yamazaki… and a lot of local talent as well(just to name a few local distilleries; Hangar One, 209 Gin, St. George, etc…) so you definitely feel the local love. While enjoying a drink upstairs(perfect place for a conversation), you cannot miss the rhythmic throbbing of music from the dimly lit, pink neon stairwell at the corner of the room. Descending the staircase can almost be a transcendental experience(especially if you’ve spent a significant amount of time at the upstairs bar) as if you are traversing some sort of multifaceted portal, the music crescendos and as you approach the landing there is a bright neon sign that cryptically reads: «ALLARTISPROPAGANDA». Turn the corner on the second landing and all of your senses are completely assaulted with light, sound, and energy. This is a completely different scene from the upstairs bar. There’s an undulation of people on the dance floor all connected by the music. Juxtaposed by the neo-classic architecture at the beautiful gold leafed bar flanked by all-white peacocks there are cutting edge visuals displayed on a multi-faceted, projection mapped wall behind the DJ booth which is centrally located in the room. The ancient brick wall at the back of the room is also completely mapped with hypnotizing visuals as well. A surgically accurate Funktion One sound system allows you to hear and feel music all throughout the club, adding to the omni-present energy and vibe. You have no choice; you can only submit to the over-encompassing and pulsing environment and stimulation of this incredible venue. Staff, including bartenders, servers, doormen, security, bathroom attendants… the whole crew is calm, graceful, confident, efficient, courteous, and most importantly chill — definitely a finely selected crew of professionals. Unisex restrooms are surprisingly clean(and stripey). Love + Propaganda is a work of art. It is the perfect balance of everything that is music, art, sound, and lighting. From the moment you walk in — you feel the legitimacy of the place and you can tell that it was built by artists and nightlife veterans by the attention to detail and the way the club flows so well. Each coming night it seems like it is getting better and better in every aspect which makes it exciting to come back to each time to witness the evolution. I’m so excited that San Francisco finally has a place like Love + Propaganda.

amazing house music and the speakers are great. it used to be called vessel before it was remodeled, and someone from audio sf bought it. anyways its pretty dope, love walking around union square for a bit, then coming back. good, friendly crowd too, im glad that this area has a local spot for house, not just bro hop on polk street and festivals at bill graham. its a little hard to have a conversation unless you go behind the bar, and the lighting is a little cliché, especially with a random, blaring neon sign, but theres plenty of headspace, and the concrete really locks in the bass. i like the intimate, local feel. restrooms are nice. im not sure how they can take it to the next level, but i think video would be key, as opposed to the geometric stuff going on right now. it would be nice to see rolling landscapes or cityscapes, or some other peaceful stuff. i guess the atmosphere just feels a little harsh, but i like it :)

From the second you walk in you feel it. This place just opened in November and I was hearing a lot of hype about the club so my friends and I went to check it out. Sound system is sick, the bar is gorgeous, and the lighting seems to get better and better. I’ve gone every weekend since the place opened, can’t get enough. They are bringing in some pretty big djs now too which ads even more value, it’s a very musically educated crowd too which is really nice to be around. The centered dj booth also gives the room a boiler room feel that allows people to get behind the dj and up close and personal with him if your in front of him too. the club is a good size with lots of different rooms too, but I still havent discovered what really goes on in the mirror room. Long story short, you’ll definitely be in awe when you see this spot, its dope.

Dark, sultry, and perfectly satisfying. Love + Propaganda is everything that a night club should be. After entering from the street, deep house bass begins to completely encompass your body. Guests advance down a dark stairway, the path being it lit by the neon words«All art is propaganda.» Edgy commentary on society mixed in with an evening a night life? Fantastical touch. As the guests walk down the stairs into the main club they are back lit, providing an awesome, almost stage-like, aesthetic of entrance. Coat check is also past this point, allowing everyone to make an appearance in their full costume. The main room is lined with exposed brick walls, the back section providing very spacious sections, available to everyone. The dance floor is quite narrow, and at almost every point you are within 20 feet of the DJ booth. There is also seating behind the booth, which allows people to completely encompass it, adding even more to the intimate feel. The layout allows easy access to the restrooms from both the bar and the dance floor. The restroom is also one of the nicest nightclub restrooms I have ever seen. Classy soap dispensers, candles, clean(private) stalls, and a restroom staff; truly exceptional. Liquor selection had some top notch choices. Blanton’s and Yamazaki were among some of the top shelf whiskey selections for those wanting to elevate themselves above the red bull and vodka fueled crowd. They definitely seem to be creating an atmosphere that could double as a more relaxed lounge space for those who don’t want to spend the entire evening on the dance floor. Bar staff was very friendly and nice. And of course, let’s not forget the talent they have brought in so far. Zimmer, Matt Lange, Chris Lake, Max Graham, all within the first two months. This might be the new go-to club for deep house DJs rolling through San Francisco. The only part of the layout that I didn’t like was the waitress station on the edge of the dance floor. The waitress continually has to walk through the crowd, asking people to move, in order to get back to it. And when the screen for the station is on it is blindingly bright in comparison to the dark atmosphere on the floor, and it is a real mood killer. Seems like an easy fix, maybe they will re-evaluate its placement. Surprisingly, after a girl started dancing on one of the tables, the staff came over and asked her to get off. Seems like they are trying to keep the place classy. I wonder, if there were four girls on the table would the man with the blue light still ask them to get down? Previous to this visit, I would have said Audio was the best night club in the city. Audio has fallen victim to some of the traps of its great success over the last two years(line management is horrendous), but is still a great place to go. Line management was much better here, bouncers were friendly. Even the name«Love + Propaganda» is the best name of a nightclub I have heard. Apparently, it is the new project of Audio’s owners, and it shows. Almost everything to love about Audio, and more, is present here.

Trendy clubs come and go in San Francisco, as fleeting as bouts of feeble California rain. Before 85 Campton got renovated, it was the club Vessel. I love recounting(in horror) the night I saw the Chainsmokers — sweat from the crowd had evaporated to the ceiling, condensed again, and was dripping back down on the crowd below. Fortunately, Vessel closed down for some overdue revamping. We were supposed to text a couple promoters about entry to the new club. They responded with vague answers asking for our name and party size, and then told us there was no guest list and stopped responding to our texts. When we arrived at the club, the staff directed us to either the«guest list» line or the«general admission» line. Okay… So they lied to us. It was all very confusing and unprofessional, and our names weren’t even on the list. Worse, it seems that they deliberately made the whole process confusing to maintain that contrived, mysterious exclusivity. Another negative aspect of Love + Propaganda is their pretentious advertising. It’s very artsy, and gives off an air of exclusivity and higher meaning… I get it. But the cynic/realist in me is not a fan. Sample ad from their grand opening Facebook event: «All art is propaganda. It is universally and inescabably propaganda; sometimes unconsciously, but often deliberately, propaganda.» Yep, inescabably. I have to admit, though — their art is much easier on the eyes than the typical raunchy club ad. All condescension aside, the club itself is fun, and the renovations are great. I was here on the grand opening night(with Goldroom playing!) and it wasn’t terribly crowded. Friendly people, with a surprising lack of creepers. The main layout is the same(there’s a bar at the entrance and then you go downstairs to access the club), but the pathways between the dance floor, bar, and bathroom are much more accessible than they were at Vessel. There’s also a giant LED screen behind the DJ showing awesome visuals. Overall, I think this club has a lot of potential. It’s in a popular and safe location, which makes it easy to find somewhere to eat after dancing. One nugget of advice: Please don’t pull a «Temple»! It’s more important to keep the fun atmosphere than to multiply your revenue by cramming in as many people as possible.

This spot is in a prime location just off of Union Square. It’s a cool space, but the way it was laid out when it was Vessel was just so awkward. The entire dance floor was filled with moving traffic between the bar and the bathrooms. No matter where you stood, you were in the way. Plus, most of the floor space was reserved for tables, so the dance floor was always cramped. This was even more awkward if the tables were empty. When I heard that it was being remodeled, I was excited to see what they would come up with. The layout problems are completely fixed. The space is now much more comfortable and open. They upgraded the lighting, and the projection mapping in back of the DJ booth is something that I don’t see at a lot of clubs in SF. Very cool. I love the neon signs, the artwork, the whole motif — very sexy. And of course, that Funktion One sound system is top notch. I’m very excited to see what kind of talent they bring out at the new digs.
