Ive never had a bad experience with this place and Ive been here about 2 – 3 times so far, but what is really nice was I wanted to refund two tickets that I bought for a show that I could no longer attend, usually clubs don’t do refunds which can leave you to have to sell the tickets yourself or not even use them. So I sent an email about a refund and kindly explained my situation and not even a day later they refunded me my full amount! They have a lot amazing DJ’s and performers so it just depends who’s performing. I LOVE that they give out free guest lists often so you don’t have to pay to get in, whether you’re a guy or girl(Cus you know they always say girls get in for free at clubs cus they’re girls.) Two story, great set-up, it’s not the biggest club but they still put on great shows.

Wouldn’t honor the fact that I was on the guest list and made me pay $ 25 to get in. The DJ’s that played ended up being awful top 40 remixes and the crowd was so young and arrogant they’d shove you out of the way instead of walking through the crowd like any other venue I’ve been at. Regulars? Probably. No thanks Ruby Skye, I won’t be coming back. Your atmosphere sucks pretty bad and you made me pay $ 25 for a giant turd. I left after 30 minutes and defaulted to Spotify. Much better!

— Last month, I went to a little know and very popular event at Ruby Skye. The event is «LIVESHARKSTANK®» Startups Showcase. I highly recommend it as a way to meet, greet, eat and drink while winding down on Friday nights. The next event is Fri, May 20, 2016 at 6:00PM Here is link with an invitation.

TERRIBLE. DISGUSTING. NONEXISTENT. MANAGEMENT. Reposting this again because my review was removed. I WONDERWHY??? Don’t even bother with this club, you’ll be quick to regret it. It’s a waste of your money and your time. They only play EDM music and majority of the folks that go here are old, creepy, and weird. Lol. Not to mention the venue itself is tiny, and everyone ends up smelling musty af by the end of the night. Aside from that, this place still serves alcohol drinks with GLASSCUPS. Which is STUPID because drunk people, for whatever mindless reason, can leave it on the dance floor and with people all over the place, they can step on it and BREAKTHEGLASS, and some innocent person can unknowingly step on that glass, and end up INJURINGTHEMSELVES. I say this because that’s what happened to me over two years ago. How did I injure myself? I had worn heels that exposed parts of my feet as part of the design of the shoe, and had stepped on a broken piece of glass on my way to the bathroom. No, I wasn’t even drunk. I was sober as hell. I still have not been compensated, and the person I spoke with(Mike) totally disregarded my situation and refused to compensate me for what had happened. Clearly this business is in it for the money and have no concerns for their clients safety. Very unprofessional and unethical. Their security guards are also the rudest I’ve ever had experience with. I WOULDNEVERRECOMMENDTHISCLUBTOANYONE. NOTEVENIFGOODDJ’S AREPLAYING. it’s simply not worth it. This place is a hazard to your health whether you’re sober or not. Temple is where it’s at nowadays, as well as the Grand. Unless you want to step on broken glass too, I wouldn’t otherwise go here. Your life is at risk if you visit this venue.

I hate clubbing in SF but Ruby Skye is the only place I keep going back to even though they kicked me out once for God knows what reason. Probably because I fell asleep on the ONE chair they have by the front door. I didn’t even realize until I noticed the huge Sharpie X on my wrist. Whoops. Its the only club that isn’t 99.9% Asian. The clubs in SF are literally more Asian than the ones I go to in Shanghai. They also have a guest list that goes on later than most other clubs but their usual cover is pretty pricey. I always end up running into people here despite how dark and packed it gets. Show up drunk on arrival, get lost in their pretty lights, and dance like no one is watching.

Not clean, reeked of cigarettes and old maple syrup. They really need to remove that carpet. Tritonal and the light show was great but the atmosphere was disappointing. I was not impressed with the dress code, or lack there of. Sneakers, jeans, plaid and Hawaiian shirts? Come on, that is just ridiculous. If you are spending $ 30+ on a ticket to get in, the least you can do is put on some black pants, a nice blouse, and some flats. The bartenders and bouncers seemed friendly but the crowd was not appealing at all. I found it odd that no one was even dancing. I could look past the venue if the crowd was«better». If they want to improve their image then they need a dress code that will attract a certain type of crowd. If you are looking to just hook-up then this is good for you, but if you want to dance then this is not the place. I see more dancing at Night Life at Academy of Sciences lol.

Ruby Skye is easily one of the worst clubs in San Francisco – they can get really good acts but the attitude of their bouncers and bartenders is a huge turn-off. The crowd is so-so, depending on how much you like a bro-ish kind of crowd. Overall, head to Public Works, Mezzanine or even 1015 if you want to spend a good night.

I went to Ruby Skye for a mixer, so YMMV. I like how there’s two stories and plenty of bars to go to, but this place can get crowded fast. Bartenders are kind of surly too, and somewhat stingy on the liquor. Still, it’s a gorgeous venue.

I guess this one is long overdue. I have enjoyed going to Ruby Skye over the past 14 years. Yeah, I’m an «old» man, as some may say. Anyways, RS always brings in the top DJs and artists from all over the world. It’s always a grand experience every time I come here. The drinks are standard priced(this is San Francisco after all). The one big complaint that I have is that this place needs a MAJOR remodel. The interior is so dated, it looks like you find all the furnishings at a garage sale. Every other club you go to has a more modern look to it. As for security staff, I’ve had no problems with them. As long as you don’t act like an idiot, they’ll be good to you. Overall, I don’t mind coming here on occasions, but Ruby Skye is starting to show its age. Get it together, guys!

My first time at Ruby Skye was this past Thursday for TJR. I just moved to the Bay from SoCal and from what I heard through word of mouth did not live up to my expectation. It was a slow night so I understand. I would have given 3 stars if it was a huge head liner but a small crowd. No fun. I liked that they separated the 18+ for downstairs and having 21+ upstairs; since a lot of people over 21+ dread seeing an event being 18+. Anyways minus one star only because they do not have an outdoor patio but thank you security guards for letting me vape inside and making sure I do not get kicked out just in case I wasn’t allowed to. I made sure every guard remembered me and to not kick me out because of the permission to vape from them. Thanks guys!

Came for a sold-out Friday After-Party with headliner Galantis and opener Thomas Gold. Thomas Gold started at midnight and Galantis started at 1:30am and ended at 2:30am. 21+ only for this show. There was no dress code! Well drinks cost $ 11 each. Coat check opened at 10:30pm and cost $ 2/item. They give out a numbered tag that you use for pickup at anytime. I was pleasantly surprised how quick coat retrieval occurred at the end of the show. Tickets said the event started at 9pm. Place was fairly empty when we arrived at 10pm. It didn’t get packed until 11 – 11:30pm. Arrive by 11 if you want a decent view from the balcony! You’ll get an awesome view of the laser show. We parked under Union Square from 10pm-2:30am, which cost $ 11.50. And just one block away! We had a nice time and will be back for future shows!

Oh wow I can’t believe I’m doing this… Updating my review haha I’m bumping it up to another star because my staff experience here has improved. I’ve had so many memories here, good and bad. The bad experiences have been with rude bouncers or security or staff in general. Last night I came for the Cirez D after party. I don’t know if they hired some new staff because I used to frequent here a lot but they were all so professional and actually nice? Hahah I’m not used to that at ruby. Ive ran into a couple of rude ones for no reason on a power trip. One particular one is so fkn rude every single time. If you hate your job so much, work somewhere else. No need to be bitter and ruin it for others. I’ve experienced rudeness by one particular staff member here that I would try to avoid ruby as much as possible, and I’m finally back here again after a year or two. Towards the end, I was upstairs trying to get a few of the stage downstairs but everyone was like towering over me because I’m so short lol But one of the staff let my brother and I into vip just because and asked if we wanted a better view, and of course we said yes! and he was extremely nice and professional. It was my first time seeing Cirez D, I’ve seen Eric Prydz so many times but I would come and see him again in a heartbeat. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to. And the staff here actually made my night! Thanks!

if you’re Unilocaling this place, you’re probably looking for 1 of 2 things: 1.) DRESSCODE: girls… anything goes! you can feel equally at home in a tank top and sneakers or a little black dress. I love!(mainly because I don’t have to deal with heels. #win) 2.) AMBIENCE: decent space: one dance floor on the lower level, and a ledge on the upper level, but could use a real clean-up. apparently this place has been around since WWI or something? and it’s starting to look like it… despite being 18+, the place and the crowd and everything just felt kind of… old.

Being a big fan of clubs here in LA, I thought I would give it a try in San Francisco. It started with me copping tickets to my favorite DJ, Andrew Rayel! With that type of excitement, I could not bear to pass up on another great opportunity to see my go to DJ. The good: — they get some big named DJs to play in a mediocre club. — the sound system was really loud and the bass was punchy, perfect for partying until the am. — drinks were not overpriced — the hosts working inside the club were very nice and attentive! The bad: — rude bouncers that like to make unnecessary comments. one of them that was at the door told my girlfriend that she should put on more clothes if she’s cold. no shit… it’s december and you guys have your lines outside in the 35 degree weather at 11pm… — for some reason, it was an 18+ event that night so you had a lot of crazy teens that were probably on some type of substance. the pushy-ness and the massaging was a little too much for us to handle that night Overall, it was an okay experience. I gave the club a 3⁄5 just because it was my first experience there so I cannot rate it too harshly. The DJ killed it though! He was a 6⁄5 that night.

Horrible. Yes, they bring in top int’l DJs and have a great location near Union Square. But the vibe here is garbage. I’ve given Ruby Skye so many chances, but I can’t bring myself to like it at all. I came here for an event walkthrough, and even without all the sweaty people dancing around to loud music, the venue still smelled old… in a bad way. On the bright side, I do like that it has a spacious foyer and a huge upstairs balcony. I came here again for a special event(will not name which one) which tried to dress up this nightclub with decorative linens and other pretty furniture, but it looked like icing on a burnt cake. Anyways, I’m just not a fan. Props to Ruby Skye for being around for so long and for hosting tons of special nightclub events. I know many of my friends who will continue to come here, but I personally will not be one of those.

Ruby Skye is one of the best places to check out new and upcoming electronic music scene. As a new Bay Area transplant from LA I was looking for a scene similar to ExchangeLA in Los Angeles. You will definitely find a fun nightlight scene here. Highlights: 1.) Hosts: the adorable and sexy hosts amber and Shannon really set the tone for the night. These ladies were so sweet! They were like club cheerleaders answering questions for guest, plain for shots and just making sure everyone had a great time! 2.) Sound System: The speakers are placed strategically around the inner room giving you a clear, heavy bass and full body experience 3.) Drinks: Normal club prices. 4.) Crowd: There was a large number of guys but everyone was respectful(compared to temple #gross) and everyone was dancing.

Bouncers(night of 10/17/2015, there were 2 bouncers, one with a beard and a woman at the cash register) who take their job too seriously and think they are the Secret Service. The line bouncer waited ’til my whole group paid the $ 20 cover each and then stopped the last person in my group and wouldn’t let this person in, knowing that we would all stay back. Shady staff who are looking to make a quick buck. Spend your money elsewhere.

I was assaulted by the bouncers last night. Let me just put out there that I am a 5’1 female who weights 100 lbs. My friends and I were visiting from Hawaii and got harassed by the bouncers a few times even though we paid for bottle service. Anyways, next thing I know I am getting slammed and chocked to a wall by a guy who is three times my size. I broke my hand trying to free myself from it. I asked the bouncer several times for his name and he refused to give it to me. I have bruises all over my body from being beaten by the bouncers. I am not an aggressive person and I have never been in a situation like this in my life. Lucky there were guys with us or God knows what would have happened to us girls. I’ve been to Ruby a handful of times and I’ve never had a terrible experience until last night, I try to keep it classy ;) Keep in mind, I’ve never been kicked out of a club. Anyways, my friends and I literally got out of the restroom, talked for less than 5 min and a bouncer said I looked drunk and needed to leave. OK, first off, the club was pretty EMPTY… and secondly, I was not displaying any type of drunken behavior to get kicked out. The bouncer was ridiculous, unprofessional, and downright having a power trip. After discussing what happened with my friends, apparently Ruby is notorious to have dick bouncers and I completely agree. Luckily admission was free.

I really wanted to like(hell, love!) Ruby Skye, but it was just so-so. The bartenders were really odd — skipping around with no rhyme or reason and not serving people who were waiting for awhile — but we did have one great drink — they nailed the long island iced tea. The music was definitely more on the«meh» part of the spectrum. I wasn’t sure if it was the DJ or venue, but it just seemed like they were holding back. There was never a point where everyone could get into it, which was a huge letdown. The sound was loud but not loud enough. It definitely wasn’t pulsing through you; the bass here is nonexistent. Bathrooms were fairly messy and disorganized, but I blame the drunk girls for that. Clueless drunk girls, however, are lovely because they forget they’re in line, and all the sober people get to pee faster. I wasn’t complaining! :)

We heard rave reviews from our friends, mixed reviews from Unilocal.A group of 5 friends and myself decided to see if it was worth the hype. We came at 10:30 on a Saturday night. The club started out pretty empty, arrive at 11:30 if you want to come to a crowd. We decided to splurge and buy a VIP table, which was a 8 foot bench with a long table in front. It looked over the dance floor which was cool. The table cost $ 600,($ 550 for the table, $ 50 for gratuity) and included the table for the night, a liter of top shelf, and mixers. When we arrived, the staff was friendly enough, and showed us to our table. Then I got less excited. The dirty bathroom smelled like a sweaty gym locker room, the carpets were dirty and looked like they needed a good vacuuming, they were out of Grey Goose and Red Bull. For $ 600, I was hoping for more. The bouncer to the VIP area actually told us not to leave our phone at our table, which also makes me question the safety of my things. But as the night progressed it got way more fun, the club was full by 11:30, and the new DJFTAMPA came on at midnight and slayed. The previous DJ sucked. Well, actually, I bet you’d totally like him if you like house/trance/shitty music to dance to. But still a super fun night, just not sure if its worth $ 100 a person for the VIP table. I could see a $ 15 cover being much more appropriate.

Gave Ruby Skye a second chance after Michael Anthony reached out to me. Wow! What a difference! This is exactly how bottle service should be done. Upon arrival we were introduced to the General Manager, who thanked us for our business, promptly escorted to our amazing table. We were placed in the hands of Gustavo, who constantly took care of us all night. Michael Anthony and Gustavo were amazing, constantly monitoring my party making sure we were having a great time. Gustavo is truly passionate about the guest experience there and proud that he’s been there since day one. Ruby Skye is lucky to have him! Thank you for not only creating a memorable night for my friends and I, but for also establishing a long term relationship. I will definitely be hosting celebrations here and specifically requesting that Gustavo be our host. Thank you for the amazing night guys!

Ruby Skye is an unavoidable destination in San Francisco for club goers. While people may try to avoid it for various reasons, they simply bring in too many DJs that almost exclusively play here that at some point you find yourself below a bright neon sign encouraging you to explore your rhythm. There are two major factors that this place has going for it that make it unique in the San Francisco club scene: the unparalleled ability to book the biggest DJs in the world and the beautiful, archaic interior of the club. It is an elevating feeling to come out of the massive fog blasts with green lasers shooting through, look up, and see classic Victorian architecture surrounding you. It might be a stretch when Markus Schulz refers to the club as «legendary», but it is definitely one-of-a-kind in San Francisco. Overall it isn’t the cheapest club, but it also isn’t unreasonably priced for what it is. Standard cocktails are $ 11, not at all out of line with other night clubs. Entrance fees can be quite high though, especially for big names. It isn’t unusual to see prices reaching $ 50 – 60 if you wait until the day of the event. The price at the door is almost always higher than ordering online beforehand. They sometimes have free guest list that runs until midnight, which is one of the better guest list arrangements in the city. They manage their lines efficiently and clearly, and the staff is relatively friendly. Bonus: they have a slightly hidden room upstairs that plays something besides electronic music, if you are seeking refuge from the relentless bass canon downstairs.

Ruby Skye is my go-to stop when I’m in the mood for an EDM show while visiting home. I’ve seen a number of pretty good artists here(they host a *lot* of events), and my only complaint is generally temporary hearing loss(so either bring earplugs, or be prepared for some tinnitus). Architecture here is very classic and reminds me of an appropriate mix of Greco-Roman and Renaissance flair. The dance floor area is usually pretty packaged, and don’t be surprised if people are just bumping into you and stepping all over you without a second glance. You sometimes just have to push back a little, but try not to get too confrontational, because that may get you kicked out if it escalates. I generally like the second floor balcony area, which isn’t anywhere near as crowded as the downstairs stage, although I have seen a few fights break out up there. Not sure what’s «up» with that.

A decent club. Went on a Saturday night and waited 30 minutes to get in before guest list closed, which is pretty quick I have to say. Guest list closed at midnight. The club closes at 4:30AM I think. The crowd wasn’t rude, and there’s a second floor with a bar. I like looking down from the balcony. The bouncer was nice and let us sit in the VIP area when our heels were killing us. :) Not a bad first experience!

I’ve been to Ruby Skye multiple times and have had a great time every time! The line goes pretty fast so don’t worry about arriving early. Drinks are also fairly priced. Bring cash! This club brings some of the best EDM dj’s. I’ve also even seen Juicy J here and it was wild. For those 18+ Thursday nights, there’s an upstairs area that is strictly 21+. So it’s a great area to just hang out and chill.

In all my years, I had never made it out to Ruby Skye but had heard so many great things. So I thought it was time to check it out! I’ve recently been here a total of 2 times so far. Last Friday, I decided to buy tickets since I was traveling out there for SF fashion week. Entrance: not long at all around 1045-11. Bouncers were really nice. Once I was inside, I was surprisingly unimpressed, mostly by the crowd. At 27yrs of age, I felt old being in there *lol* nothing but kids it seemed like… And they were dressed as if they were at a desert rave! I thought Ruby Skye was something more upscale? Or at least that’s what I had been told. Ordered a drink so I could loosen up… It was terrible! I mean honestly… A crown & coke is so simple it should not be hard to make. Ended up leaving to check out other clubs & came back some time after midnight… Was still unimpressed after all the drinking I had done at other establishments. That night was a solid 0 stars for me. Now for my second visit. I had received 2 free tix for last night(Saturday), so I thought sure, why not give this place another shot. So my sister and I made the last minute drive out to SF. The lines were a bit longer & bouncers seemed a bit more aggressive this time around, I was afraid of what the night would be like! It somewhat seemed as if RS knew my 1st visit was a bust & needed to redeem itself *lol* my sister & I had a BLAST! The crowd was mature with sprinkles of young ones here & there, which I am just more comfortable with. I was able to enjoy the interior & ambiance of RS. My drinks were executed correctly. And the vibe of the night was just perfect! The music & light show were so great! A solid 5 stars for the night. We will definitely be checking out RS again in hopes for a great night!
