I actually really enjoyed this place. I got a shrimp burrito and it was really good! I was a little bit surprised by the presentation because I was just expecting a foil wrapped burrito and I got a really pretty dish instead. I would really like to try some of their meats next time.

The place has kareoke and is super loud on saturdays. As far as salvadorean food, one of the worst places i’ve been to,. The food is not good.

This place is really good! The food is very fresh and cooked to order. I had the shrimp in chipotle cream sauce. Yumm! The ceviche, guacamole and flan were all delicious. Beautiful presentation of food. Can’t wait to come back to try the breakfast.

Disappointed with the Tacos dorados, 12 dollars for 4 tacos and bunch of pork skin… not worth. A place call Los Yaquis(Sonoran Natives) and not a single Sonoran dish? Well they have one, Camarones a la momia, the original name is Camarones Estilo Sonora. They changed the name. I didn’t try it was dissatisfied withe the tacos and the $ 30 Dólares for 2 micheladas, 4 tacos and 1 tostada.

An absolutely amazing experience. Authentic and amazing fajitas, extremely intimate and even a karaōke lounge singer on Saturdays! You’ve got to stop in if you’re near the Mission

I actually love the food here… But BEWARE if you order online! TERRIBLE! I ordered through Eat24 and saw that I wasn’t receiving an email confirmation. When I called the restaurant they told me they had time before they put the order in and had no intention of putting it for another 15 minutes because there’s a time frame through the website and they were waiting till later… AREYOUKIDDINGME! Here’s the kicker… they told me if I had a problem with it to call the company… WTF!!! Like I don’t have a better way to make use of my time instead of complaining about their lazy asses. UNREAL!

Sometimes Unilocal disappoints! 4-stars, Mexican food in the Mission, should be a sure thing. We were sat immediately and liked the look of the place but the menu was confusing. There was a taco section where all the tacos are«dunked» in tomato sauce, but there were also tacos in the beef section and tostadas in the appetizers that look just like tacos but with a hard shell instead of a soft shell. The names are in Spanish and there are inconsistent descriptions in English. My stomach hurt, my head hurt and I wanted shrimp so I order a shrimp platter. We didn’t get chips and salsa despite the fact that we waited five minutes after arriving to order. So we asked for chips and salsa. Waiting another ten minutes for the food, we still didn’t get chips and salsa. We were so hungry, we just wanted SOMETHING to eat. Finally the food came and after that, the chips and salsa. My meal came with three kinds of starch — rice, french fries and a stack of tortillas. It also came with a small salad and eleven shrimp that still had the shell on. The shrimp came on a pile on half cooked french fries. I would have loved to dig into the those and eat them with the shrimp if I didn’t have to pick up saucy shrimp with my hands and peel them. How about half as many shrimp but peeled? The food wasn’t really seasoned and there wasn’t any sauce or beans — what was I supposed to do with the tortillas? The ceviche tostada from the appetizer menu was decent and my friend also had a beef taco. The beef even was chewier than the shrimp. Sigh.

Worst attempt at menudo I’ve ever experienced. Weirdest tasting chile, the tripa was without any real meat to it and crunched like it had been frozen forever! No hominy either. Wtf?!? Best part, waitress and tortillas de maíz

I ate there 8//21 with a friend and the food was good. As we’re in town without a car. We attempted to place an order for pock-right before 11 and I was told the kitchen is open until 11:30. When asking about this I was hung up on. Amazing the difference 24 hours, along with the epidemic in this city of people smile and get your food when you show up. When you order for pick… don’t!

Wow. What a fantastic place! The food is gorgeous. The service is impeccable. The karaōke was horribly embarrassing but fun!!!(especially when the beautiful wait-staff would stop their duties for a second and offer an encouraging dance! The most wonderful thing as cliché as it sounds, is seeing my family make unforgettable memories. Any place that welcomes my crazy family as well as these guys did, deserve more than 6 stars, they deserve my eternal gratitude.

Great place, everything yummy and great options for vegetarians! If you like spicy try the torta ahogada! Mexican with Burritos like the last option! Just one thing, if you bring your drink cuz they don’t sell it, you can’t drink it! Is ok if they apply a little charge for that like others restaurants! Is a lot others drink in the market and I understand they can’t have all of them, so a small charge sound good! I love the service and everybody there! Don’t get personal!

A WORDOFWARNINGTOTHECILANTROAVERSE: If you forget to request«no cilantro,» this food will be an attack on everything you hold sacred. Los Yaquis misuses that disgusting excuse of an herb the way middle school girls misuse glitter. There’s a time and a place, and that’s never and nowhere. Someday people will learn. Until then, the rest of the food is fresh, delicious, and visually appealing. Five stars.

One of favorite places to come and eat and enjoy karaōke every Friday. Service is on point. I’ve tried everything on the menu and have no complains. Top Plates Pollo en crema de Chipotle(chicken in chipotle cream) the agua chiles wow the tortas are the same as San Juan de Los Lagos Jalisco! Compliments to the chef Sammy

The place is small, but very cute. I loved their chipotle shrimp. The sauce had a lot of flavor. I also tried the torta. I was a bit small, but very tasty. I loved their mango margaritas as well.

I’m originally from Mexico and I’ve been in San Francisco for 3 years. This is by far one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the city. It always makes me feel like home. The food is simple but delicious and the place reminds me of any«fonda» in Mexico.

I haven’t had success with ordering food for delivery but this one has been one of the less worst choice comparing with almost all the restaurants I tried before that makes delivery around SOMA. Here is my review about the food: — Carne Asada(just OK since the menu says«Grilled juicy steak“and I really expected a good meat. It was a just regular piece of meat) — Camarones Empanizados(good, BUTITDIDN“T COMEWITHTHEBEANS) — Flan Napolitano Con Galleta de Cajeta(excelent!) One good thing: they are always open when we need their delivery service.

In my continuing quest for the most awesome menudo in the city, I found myself at Los Yaquis one weeknight last month. Yet another hybrid Mexican/Salvadorean spot in the Mission, it feels rather hidden on a relatively quiet stretch of South Van Ness near 15th, so finding it was a bit of a chore from the 14 line. Once I entered, the place was empty and without much natural lighting(photo: ). I think the darkness may have something to do with the jailhouse bars on the windows. Evenings are apparently filled with live music and dancing, but I was there way too early for any of that toe-tapping frivolity, which may account for the sporadic service I experienced. Regardless, I was looking forward to authentic cuisine from the state of Jalisco. I started with a house special, the small $ 6.50 plate of Botana Mixta. It consists of pickled pig’s ears and jelly-like strips of pig skin mixed with shredded carrots, chopped cactus, tomatoes, onions, quail eggs, and head cheese(photo: ). Although I usually love anything porcine, this dish just didn’t do it for me since the pickling gave the dish such a sour taste that I could barely get through it. It came with cracker-like corn tortilla rounds that really didn’t do much to counteract the pungent flavor. Much better was the large $ 9 bowl of Menudo. It was heavy on tripe and far too light on the meat bones and associated gelatinous goodness, but the red broth was rich with a spicier-than-usual flavor(photo: ) while the flour tortillas were nice and warm. On the menudo quality scale, I’d say it’s smack dab in the middle — not the transcendent elixir to be found at Mexico Tipico in the Excelsior(review: ) but not the near-swill found at the cheaper taquerias. The rest of the menu is filled with Jaliscan specialties courtesy of the current owners and Salvadorean dishes leftover from the previous owners as apparently regulars insisted on ordering them despite the change in ownership(photo: ). I may come back for their specials like Torta Ahogada but not anytime soon. FOOD — 3 stars… middling menudo and pickled pig parts that are passable AMBIANCE — 2.5 stars… a bit dark and dank SERVICE — 2.5 stars… friendly enough at the beginning and the end but appearances became infrequent in between TOTAL — 3 stars… this little piggy cried wee-wee-wee all the way home.
