Oh Little Wing Lee’s… it’s because of you that I have such a strong love of Kung Pao chicken. When I used to live around the corner, I’d call you and you already knew my order. And then you’d bring it to me. Then when I moved a few miles away… you’d still bring it to me. How I miss those days… do you deliver to Sacramento by chance? I’ve also had other dishes, such as the orange chicken and the chow mein. It’s reaaally good food and you won’t be disappointed. I’ll be in SF this weekend and I’ll be hitting up this place for sure!

Ah… the place that started my chicken chow fun obsession. An old roommate lives up the hill from here, so when I visited, I made the walk down the hill to Little Wing Lee’s. There are two restaurants in the same area, both Chinese. Since I used to live across the street from Little Wing Lee’s, I could look out the window and see if they were still open. Yes, I lived in the monstrous pink and brown ‘barn’ apartments across the street. I went with a friend who was visiting from Oregon. She ordered the lemon chicken(a bit too tangy for my taste with way too much corn starch in their sauce) and I decided to try their beef chow fun since it was something I had never had before. As an appetizer we got crab rangoon. What a surprise the appetizer was — they were no rinky dink make ya angry because they were the size of your thumbnail crab rangoons. Oh no. These were actually a good size and chock full of cream cheese, crab and scallions. You got 10 — yes TEN! — for $ 5.00. The chow fun was fairly yummy, too… Little Wing Lee’s soon became my place to go to after work. I found I liked their Yang Chow fried rice(they’re very generous with the shrimp) and my favorite soup soon became chicken and corn. Please don’t knock that till you try it! You can actually eat in there. There are about 5 tables that seats 4. Service is fast and friendly. They do deliver. There is no designated lot parking… it’s all street. Since it’s in the Avenues(aka Outer Richmond), parking isn’t as stressful as it downtown or Inner Richmond.
