It’s really fabulous food!!! Terrific service and large portions. Not salty but truly flavorful. Highly recommended. Free delivery and always fresh.

The food is always great(our favorite takeout spot) and the folks(a family I think) are so nice. Faves include the spicy eggplant, beef n broccoli, lemon chicken and fried rice! Tonight I called in an order. My young son said«ask them if we can have a couple extra fortune cookies». I passed the message along and to my son’s delight and our surprise, TWENTY cookies were included with our dinner. Wow!

This rating is for Lilly and the hot and sour soup. Hunan café 2 is a complete hole in the wall– easy to miss if you are passing by, mostly a take out spot. I love their hot and sour soup. It’s a different style than what I’m used to, no mushrooms and the broth has a reddish hue to it but boy oh boy is it delicious!!! I crave it often and the sweet woman that works there is always kind. She runs the front of house operations all by herself so be patient if you are trying to phone in an order.

I ordered delivery, I live in the neighborhood and decided to see what the reviews were about. Wow, this place is now my go to for Chinese food. It’s soooo good. The first time I tried it, I was hooked. I ordered twice in one week. The portion sizes are good, price is good and best of all the food is fantastic!!!

I grew up in San Bruno where the original Hunan Café location was located by the Lunardis supermarket. When they remodeled the plaza in which the original restaurant was located I was heartbroken, because my small city(which already has few good dining options) lost the best Chinese restaurant! Fast forward 5 years later when all of a sudden one night I found myself reminiscing on the amazing good times me and my childhood friends had when we where in our teens skateboarding on the loading docks behind Lunardis and feasting on potstickers from Lily. I hopped on the computer and started searching for Chinese restaurants in the area only to stumble on the old Hunan café Unilocal page. At first I was disheartened knowing I would never be able to enjoy the deliciousness that was so closely associated with my childhood. However, I eventually stumbled upon the fact that Lily had relocated the restaurant to San Francisco! Words can’t explain how amazing it was to see Lily after so many years. She even recognized me after all the years and remembered that I love the soy vinegar packets instead of soy sauce for my potstickers haha. I’ve been back tons of times since and have settled on the fact that there is no better Chinese food in San Francisco. I won’t even order Mongolian beef at any other restaurant because I know it won’t compare.

We ate here yesterday after a long absence, and the food still rocks! We started eating here when our daughter was a freshman in college, and she’s 26 now. The restaurant is a real«hole in the wall,» but the food is exceptional. Some favorites: General Tso’s Chicken, Orange Beef, String Beans, Spicy Eggplant, Black Pepper Tofu, Potstickers. We live 50 miles away and make a special point to come here. You should, too!

The best Chinese food in the neighborhood. Always fresh, tasty, generous portions. They dont use«unnecessary» stuff in prepration of their dishes. The food tastes awesome. After you call it in, takes 10 – 15 min for pickup. Highly recc!

Great neighborhood Chinese spot. We mostly get delivery, and have picked up once or twice, it’s a take-out place. This is the Chinese food I crave! Soups are a bit bland for my taste, but everything else I’ve had is good. Very friendly and very fast.

Came here on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend and this gem is amazing! Walked right after it had opened and was greeted by one of the sweetest lady’s ever! She took great care into serving my boyfriend and I and even asked and suggested a remedy about a health concern my boyfriend had on his arm. She reminded me of my late grandmother so she was one of the highlights of that day. I have had many Chinese food in my life and even though we made a simple order of pot stickers, orange chicken, and fried rice, it was the best I have ever eaten and the atmosphere felt homey! I’m so sad I live so far away otherwise this would be my go-to for Chinese. This will be a traditional stop every time we go to SF and having a craving :)

Great little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant — reasonable prices, very large portions, fresh ingredients, and the the cherry on top is the woman who works there. She’s the the sweetest! The food is great and is ready at superhuman speeds.

At first I walked in, kinda worried the food would be horrible(by the looks of the place), but my husband assured me it would be the best Chinese food ever! I gave it a chance and it is by far the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. I def recommend it

Hunan Café #2 has become our go-to for Chinese cuisine over the last few months. It’s pretty standard fare, but the folks here are unbelievably kind and they’re really fast. We usually order(and are never disappointed by): –Spicy Eggplant –Garlic Green beans –General Tso’s Chicken Cash or card is fine. I’d call if you can — sometimes you’ll get a busy tone, but even if you order at the restaurant, it shouldn’t take more than 7 – 10 minutes for them to get you your order.

I don’t really care for chinese food, but my kids love it, and once in a while I’ll be in the mood. Lily and her husband turn out delicious dishes at hyper speed. I can call for pickup, and it’s ready when I get there. Lily is a doll, and the quality of the meat is very good. Highly recommend it.

My favourite take-out(and eat-in) spot. This is really one of those hole-in-the-walls that most people have no idea exists, and I love bringing friends here to sit down and enjoy a quiet meal. Yes, I love how quiet it is here — inside, as well as in the surrounding neighbourhood! The restaurant itself is very small, and a decent amount of their business is take-out and delivery. The owner is super friendly and recognized me after stopping by for take out just two times; now whenever I show up, we have a nice conversation. She remembers that I don’t like spicy things, so whenever I order something with a chilli beside the menu item, she makes sure to tone down the spice. Plus, there’s an entire section for vegetarian friendly items. That’s always the number one thing I look for in a new restaurant. :)

A fellow coworker raves about this place! One day, when trying to figure out what we wanted to eat, the roommate and I decided to try Hunan Café 2. They don’t offer online ordering, so we just phoned in our delivery order. May 2013 *Beef w/string beans *Ginger onions chicken *Spicy salty ribs *Fried rice(Chicken) *Pot sticker *Chow fun(Beef) *Wor wonton soup The food was good, but nothing really stood out as being fantastic. The beef with string beans and fried rice were my favorite items. Both had good flavor. However the ginger onions chicken wasn’t what I imagined. I thought it would be the boiled chicken with the ginger onion dip. Complete my fault, but still kind of disappointing as I probably wouldn’t have ordered this. And the batter on the spicy salty ribs was too thick and airy for me. I didn’t really care for it. Overall, a decent place to order Chinese. And just like everyone says, Lily was a delight and a total sweetheart!

When I’m in the sunset and looking for a restaurant, my default is to open up Unilocal, filter for open now and search for the one $ restaurants. Only in the sunset is it possible to find fantastic food for on average, less than $ 8 per dish. Hunan Café 2 is not an exception. This place is small. A tiny hole in the wall I accidentally drove by before actually seeing it. The food here though, is fantastic. I like to think of it as comfort Chinese food. You know, the Americanized Chinese food that I personally never had growing up(I’m Chinese), but is delicious anyways. If you have ever been to Wonderland restaurant in the Haight, this is it’s older, less hip cousin(the foods are similar, just a lot less sexy). Try the: (+) Hot and sour soup. Amazing. I recently reviewed San Tung #2( ) and claimed theirs as the 2nd best I’ve had in my life, this place is bumping that down to 3rd. wapow. (+) Kung Pao Chicken. Freshest zucchini I’ve ever had in this dish. Extra points to this place for their fantastic waitress who is absolutely the best and the charm of a hastily scribbled note on their menus indicating that their customers should«add 50 cents» to the price of every dish on the menu.
