John is a true craftsman. His repair of leaded glass cupboard doors is beautiful. The glass was from 1911, when the house was built. Highly recommend. Emily L

These guys are GREAT! They repaired my 5 foot tall Moroccan lantern after it had crashed to the floor. They installed new glass and it came out better than before! Service was fast and efficient as well as economical

This is just the kind of business I like supporting. Very small, you get to work with the owner, he is meticulous and takes his time. He is in demand and does the work right for each customer-this is not a mill. He worked with me on what I wanted, had some great suggestions, let me choose my glass and even installed it! All very reasonable and high quality work. And John is a very pleasant man to boot! Get that glass fixed now!

I was tempted to give John a great Unilocal rating before he even started the job. His professional and kind demeanor alone set him apart from the so-called competition. Now that the custom work that he did for me is complete, I can say that his craftsmanship is without a doubt worth the drive and the dough. John takes a lot of pride in his work, so don’t expect things to be done super fast. He takes his time and it’s well-worth the finished product.

A large stained glass window was broken in several places during a move at a flat on Lake Street. John coordinated with me and my client over several weeks to remove, repair and replace the broken glass. John went the extra mile — climbing over a garage roof — to gain access to the window in order to remove it. It was beautifully repaired and returned within a very short period of time. The window is better than ever! John is very personable, responsible and hard-working. I would highly recommend.

I took a couple of leaded glass doors that were original to my 1911 flat. I had accidentally broken a pane in one of the door as I was trying to «refurbish» one of the leaded panes. These panes hung out in the garage for 2 years until I found John on Unilocal. You walk into his shop and you can tell this guy is serious about his work… cool SF style stained glass and leaded glass everywhere. If you want a pretty designer-esque studio; don’t come here. If you want a guy who is committed to his craft and trade this is the place for you. Work was done pretty much on time and the rates are very reasonable; not cheap but reasonable. He also recommended that I put a patina on the lead instead of painting it(see results of ill fated refurbish above). the new patina looks fab and my doors are back up protecting my valuables and saving me from mocking comments from friends that kept asking«what happened to your doors?» I like the shop/John and much kudos to a guy who works on a real niche in the city and does so fairly and honestly. My work was probably below what gets him really excited; there was a ton of beautiful Victorian stained glass work he was in the middle of.

John Lenox is great. He came to my house during the BIGGEST storm of the year to take down a HUGE stained glass window that was being beaten to shreds by 100mph winds. He repaired it perfectly and returned it in a decent amount of time and his prices seemed reasonable given the high quality service he provided.

I recently brought my front door to Lenox to replace a broken pane of a leaded panel. John did the job promptly and the replacement cost was extremely reasonable. I had tried 3 other companies listed in the Yellow Pages. One company simply did not show up for the appointment, made another, then didn’t show up. Two other companies recommended John. Easy location to get to. Professional, honest job.
