Best breakfast sandwiches in SF. I live on the corner and one of my roommates eats here 4+ times a week. Classic family run business with a lot of character.

The selection isn’t huge but it does the job. They make amazing bagel sandwiches and are super nice guys. It’s been hit or miss with the regular sandwiches– I used to love them but got some really rank garlic spread a couple of times and haven’t ordered one since. But those breakfast bagels with egg, cheese, bacon, and avocado are just too good.

This place has good food, great coffee, and wonderful charm! Visiting this quaint, friendly place takes me back to San Francisco the way it was in my childhood. Peter is a great conversationalist and treats his customers like family. My wife and I loved everything about this place, from the exceptional wine selections right down to the old, worn wooden floor.

After leaving«the other place» with poor customer service, I took a walk and came across this gem. Jump Start is a local establishment and the kind of place any city would be proud to call its own. First, the service is great and the atmosphere welcoming. During the brief time I was there, I enjoyed great conversation with Peter on various life topics. It is the type of neighborhood spot where where you can sit and talk for hours. Second, the food it is absolutely wonderful. I had a #6 turkey supper sandwich and a sampled baked goods(crumble cake and baklava) which were delightful without being too sweet. If you are in the Mission area, then stop and have a talk with Peter while enjoying some of the best food that San Francisco has to offer. It is simple fare that is good for the body and experience. Peter gets the critical blend(service and product at a reasonable price) right as Jump Start delivers excellent food and service with a smile.

Peter makes the best sandwiches, fresh local ingredients and innovative combinations, and coffee he selects from local roasters. He’s genuine and passionate about the quality of the food he serves. I also love the selection of hard-to-find imported groceries, both Northern and Southern European standards. Subtle tastes — sweets, condiments, preserves, etc. — that we store in memories of personal travel experiences. Peter also has a small selection of excellent local wines. Jump stop is a perfectly executed and updated incarnation of an urban corner market.

I come here about once a week. I always order my «usual,» a turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich on a roll, sometimes with cream cheese. I also will order the meatball sub every now and then. Peter always gives a big sandwich for under $ 10. It’s very close by to where I work so I can always walk to his store.

Great mom and pop shop where you can grab a wholesome handmade sandwich on the go, or to eat there. Nothing particularly impressive, but that’s a bit of the comfort and charm of this place!

Open late, very friendly, let you have packages delivered there. Yes, it is expensive but it’s convenient in a pinch. I wouldn’t shop here regularly because it’s not a bargain but it’s good for when you need cat food, a beverage, or a great sandwich. They have coffee with no line — yes I wish it were cheaper but they are charging what the market allows.

I love this place! I always go here for a quick stop to grab something… their sandwiches are delicious, the wine selection decent and has most of the that last item you forget to pick up from the grocery. Peter and his kin are so much part of the community! They know you my name and face and very warm and welcoming.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 20 years. Yes, the Mission has changed. This used to be a nice corner coffee and sandwich place, but it looks like the greed has gotten to them as well. Maybe because there’s a tech bus stop nearby they have decided to jack up their prices accordingly. I stopped by the other day to just get a simple cup of coffee before work. The basic drip roast in the thermos container that I wanted was empty, so no big deal, I chose another. I took what I thought was a small paper cup and proceeded to check out. I couldn’t believe it when he told me it was $ 2.50 for the coffee. He said, «Yep, that’s the going rate.» Seriously? I can get a fancy coffee at Peets, Starbucks or the nice Caffe Fiore across the street where you can get an AMERICANO for $ 2.25. Which I’ll be doing. Really disappointed by you Jump Start. #FAIL

Jump start makes the best sandwiches in the neighborhood. The proprietor Peter is super friendly and very fast getting orders out! His sandwich menu is extensive and his ingredients are very fresh. This is definitely the quaint little neighborhood grocery-deli of days gone by. I highly recommend.

Warm and welcoming, this coffee stop is a great place to unwind and relax after a long walk around the town or around the Mission. I usually come here for a pack of him before heading to work and the transactions are always very swift and prompt. The owner/cashier here is really friendly despite me coming over to say hi and grab a pack of gum real quick. Seating in this place should be noted. Most places just randomly add seating inside stores and makes it look awkward. Here, it blend in with the store and give it great character. I’ll definitely have to spend lunch here and try out the sandwiches and falafel.

I have never been inspired to write a review until now. There is literally no better community corner store in the world. Peter’s sandwiches and coffee in my opinion are the best in SF, mostly because you can taste the love and care he puts into his ingredients and process. If you want a no frills, unpretentious, and just pure quality place, there is no place better than Jump Start.

When I was a kid and imagined a friendly, welcoming corner store that would fit into Sesame Street or where Mr. Roger’s would go to grab a cup of coffee, I would have imagined Jump Start. There’s a lot of care in this place, and they have the best coffee and sandwiches. I’ve had a lot of sandwiches in my life, but I simply love the simple breakfast sandwich here with egg and cheese on a bagel. It’s always a community gathering of one or a few in the morning, with pets too. I love coming here for my morning cup of coffee and my sandwich. Peter also gives great advice(in case you were in need of some). On a practical level, the selection of drinks is varied, the food is high quality, and sandwiches are large and tasty. Clean, warm, inviting, and neighborhood-y — Jump Start is a large part of why I love living in this area.

Peter is an awesome guy. I love coming to jump start. Feels like a coffee shop in my own kitchen. Great meatball sandwich and also their breakfast bagel sandwiches are really good. Great selection of coffee to take home. And even a few quick groceries if you don’t feel like going to the market and maybe buying to much stuff. Peter also has sushi brought in every day, fresh. Which is another quick option. Overall very nice and very homie

i love everything about this café. my usual is the chai latte and a custom veggie /hummus sandwich that Peter makes. It’s my go to place for something healthy, quick and affordable. Another plus is the chill and relaxed atmosphere. When I’m here, I can talk to Peter, who is one of the friendliest, most helpful and genuine store owner/friend I have ever met. He entrusted me to throw a pop up event at his shop on Valentines’ day and Mother’s day and it was a success! I can’t thank him enough for giving me a chance to explore and share my creativity with our neighborhood. Jumpstart is great, all around. Come by and say hi! :)

Jump start is an awesome casual place to eat or shop. I’m a tuna melt addict, so I almost always order that. But sometimes Peter, the proprietor, makes fun of me for being boring, so he picks something else for me. I’m also a fan of their bagels and coffee. Jump start really cares about quality of service and food; it’s always on my short list for lunch or breakfast.
