Attention to the Store Manager and Owner of JJ!!!: The latino guy that works there with the ponytail(was there this morning) has the worst customer service ever and is super lazy! He didn’t answer the phone ALL morning. When we finally walked over there to see if it was even open, he didn’t acknowledge us. We called twice while we were in there and he didn’t even budge at all with any attempt to answer the phone. We had to initiate talking to him after standing there for 10 minutes by saying«are you even open?!» He literally stood in the back and did not show any effort in trying to tend to customers. It was unbelievable. When he finally came to the front(only because we pretty much called him to come over) he was rude and had attitude saying«we don’t have any chicken legs!» There are ways to speak to people, and he does not have good ways of doing so. So honestly, we were so upset that we left in the middle of ordering. If we felt this way about our experience, I’m sure there are others who feel this way. I understand that people have their own personal things going on, but when we are at work we should do our best to keep it professional and do our job. ESPECIALLY when it comes to customer service. This guy is losing JJ business, definitely a big order that we were about to put in today. The food is good though. I will say that. which is the ONLY reason that there are 2 stars and not zero stars. But this dude does not represent the expectations of JJ or of loyal paying customers. Do something with him. Please.

Only 2 stars because when I go and the owner is there I get superb service. Today I went to buy 20 wings totaled to 31 and some change. The Mexican guy that worked there wasn’t even at the counter, only 1 person in the restaurant… What’s the hold up. So I waited. He finally walks up and takes my order, I ask him can I get 20 wings… I give him my card and it declines because I hit my limit for the day so I had to go to an ATM I told him, «OK going to the ATM please put the chicken in the fryer so I don’t have to wait longno when I get back» he says«Okay.» I come back in 10 minutes… Nothing in the fryer, the cook is sitting down and I asked him«so he never put the chicken in the fryer?» this guy lies to my face and says«yes» and stares at me like I’m stupid. dude are you kidding me I’m looking at the fryers! Nothing in them! So he says something in Spanish to the cook and the cook pulls a big tray of uncooked chicken out and throws it in the fryer… I was so pissed I said why’d you lie? And I walked out because not only did you lie to me but you didn’t even start the chicken! I understand people say they are gonna come back and don’t but I reassured him I was coming back. Fck it, get your payment for overpriced chicken wings from someone else cause ya lost me.

Haven’t had food poisoning in years. But this place certainly knew how to mess up my stomach. Stay far away from this junk.

I stopped at this location one evening on the way to the freeway, I ordered the fish and chicken pieces. I was surprise to know that they had a variety of types of fish to pick from. The fries could have been thinner. The food was good, tasty, and good portions, they give you plenty of large pieces. The location is not the best.

I had a horrible experience. After ordering my food, I asked for a key to the bathroom. The bathroom was gross, urine and feces everywhere, 3 big bags of trash on the smelly floor. I simply could not believe it. I told the cashier about the condition of the bathroom and he just laughed and never went to inspect/clean it. The fish was not cooked all the way. My stomach was upset and I will never eat there again. The peach cobbler was not good either. Very disappointing. I should have known better to eat that food after seeing the bathroom.

You get a large portion of food for the money. I got the red snapper combo, which included 4 filets and a heap of fries. Sadly the fish was dry and had so much breading you couldn’t taste anything else. The fries were pretty darn tasty though.

Man, I am craving those oysters right now! So good with hot sauce. Beware! Nothing in this place is good for you, and it all tastes awesome. The mac & cheese is yummy, but you really come here for the fried food. Shrimp, chicken, catfish, all awesome, but nothing beats those oysters! Dammit — I’m going for lunch tomorrow! About the particulars: a bit pricey — dinner for two about $ 30. Parking sucks and the neighborhood is awful — go during daylight. Clean and bright inside, generally helpful staff.

I was disappointed to find that when I got back home with my order the coleslaw was not included. I ordered the chicken thighs which were not all chicken thighs. And what I did get was overcooked dry and with no seasoning or flavor. I cannot give this restaurant a sincere recommendation.

I’ve been to the one in Vallejo… Where I get My Chicken & Fried Catfish for Catering Parties! My coworkers and I decided to give the SF place a try for lunch. Tastes the same and oh so good! I got the two item combo snapper & shrimp with a side of the Mac n Cheese with Collard Greens! Gonna be back here soon to try other dishes!!!

The french fries and the fried snapper were really good and the jumbo shrimp were actually JUMBO and really fresh and perfectly cooked! The tiny little plastic container that I thought was going to be tartar sauce which accompanies the food is actually cole slaw which gets warmed up by the heat from your food. It was super sketchy, smelled and looked spoiled– do not reccommend. The mac and cheese was not good either, it tasted so artifical it was not even reminiscent of cheese in any way. The pineapple coconut cake is pretty darn good though! Come for the fried fish and shrimp and skip the sides.

I really love the fried snapper. They seem to always be out of the sugar coma lemonade icee when I go. But I don’t let that stop me from going back… soon

I liked the chicken here, it’s just not on the same level as the recipe at Hard Knox Café. I enjoyed the catfish & the prawns as well. Overall the 3 item combo I ordered was a good value. When I get the itch I’m surely coming back. Next time though it will be for their large selection of fried fish. On the side I ordered collard greens & spaghetti. The spaghetti was okay, not bad. The collard greens on the other hand was full of flavor & juicy; I could’ve eaten a bucket full. I wish the sides were a slight hint larger but no big deal. The cost vs value is about the same as Popeye’s although Popeye’s has the edge on chicken, at least on two piece Tuesdays. From my experience the service was fine. The girl at the counter was nice, even the cook said wassup. As far as I can tell they take orders for pick up, that’s probably the way to go if you’re in a rush.

Chicken wings are huge must be hen wings. Very tuff. found the wing hard to pull apart. made me wonder«what could it really be»?

Hands down, the best catfish and fries on the planet. Sure, the neighborhood is «meh», but with food this good, who the heck cares. I LOVE this place. The cook is so cool. Real nice guy. I can’t wait to go back. The fried catfish is the bomb. Fried to perfect. So flavorful. So fresh. And I’ve had catfish from all over the country. Texas. North Caroline. DC. Cleveland. JJ’s IS the best.

Came by after a long day of work, it was filled with a sketchy crowd. The guy behind the counter seemed like he was on something and told me nothing but fried orders were available. GREAT. While he was trying to help me he was rummaging around in the back, and didn’t even look at me. I wanted to just turned around and leave at that point but didn’t. Anyway, he took my money and disappeared, I didn’t see my food for 30 mins so I just left without my order. I figured if the service was this terrible the food probably would be too. I’m never coming back here. Id rather go to McDonalds or something then stop by here.

Tintin and I shared the the catfish fillet and chicken combo. Since it included fries, and the portions are large, that one order was more than enough food for us. I think I preferred the catfish, but both were good without being greasy, or too heavy. We also got the peach cobbler, but it wasn’t the texture that I like. They had what looked like 20 different cake options, so I will try one of those next time. Service was friendly. I expected a long wait for our order to be ready because of some of the other reviews, but it wasn’t bad. We’ll be back.
