I ordered food from this place once under the recommendation of a co-​worker and it was quite good. The same co-​worker offered to pick-​up food for me on her way back from a meeting, and would call me when i should call the place so i could make my order. Simple right? WRONG. After receiving my co-​workers phone call, i made my move to call in my order. The first 3 times i got an odd beeping sound and then a hang-​up, on the fourth try i spoke with someone who was nice, but said that their machine wasn’t working and payment options were reduced to cash. I told her to go ahead and make it and i’ll call back right away after speaking with my friend to make sure she has cash, but this clearly wasn’t okay (to be continued). So, i call back my friend who assures me that they have cash enough and go ahead. SO, i attempt to call back this place over and over but only get the BEEPING. Over and over i call and only the beeping is there. I happen to know that i called exactly 35 times out of frustration and finally gave up, and called my friend back who was now there. She said she would ask in person. I didn’t hear back from her until she met back up with me at work. She told me after asking them what happened, about 3 workers had a small meeting up front and came to the conclusion that there hadn’t been a phone order. And they knew nothing about said order. So, although the food is pretty good (I’ve only had one thing) it isn’t worth the headache for you and your loved ones! go somewhere else! I know I will! I imagine the beeping sound was the phone off the hook so that they avoid having to deal with a food order. Its not like they are in business to sell food… or is it?

Two years in row J&V failed to show up on time to multiple meals my team planned for hundreds of customers over the weekend. They arrived so late to one meal, we had to bus the dishes and run to buy food from a local restaurant to feed customers, completely disrupting the flow of our strictly scheduled day. Not only were they almost an hour and a half late to this meal, there was not one attempt made to warn us they were running behind schedule. Not a single phone call, email or text. To top it off they only offered a 15% discount on a 20k order to make amends which barely covers the cost of food we had rushed to buy.
I blame myself for giving them a chance a second year in a row. What their service lacks is not made up by their food. Do not recommend.

Chicken Dishes, Lots Of Omelettes Styles. It Serves The Commercial Industry All Around The Area But Is Appropriate For All Anytime !

Staff here is great & friendly. Their breakfast burrito is solid and they have good lunch options in a neighborhood that only has a few decent lunch spots. Definitely worth stopping in for breakfast or lunch if your in the neighborhood.

Just factor the 20% gratuity into the price of the catering. They pay their servers minimum wage, and they do not pass that gratuity on to the employees.

Love this place inside the produce mart.

J and V Catering did an excellent job serving breakfast and lunch for our very important meeting in the finance district. They showed up on time, the food was great!, we loved the Phils coffee, and we appreciated the clear line of communication with the company. They also were very accommodating of our last minute requests. Frederick was great to work with and the catering staff was great!

I use J & V on a fairly consistent basis to provide catering for clients that I have at my facility — typically ranging from 10 – 20 people. They do a phenomenal job — and starting at less than $ 10 per person you can expect a nice presentation and good quality food. They are on time every single time (which is great because I’ve needed them here as early as 5am before). It’s very easy to call and place an order, I always get an e-​mail asking to confirm the order within 20 minutes with Frederick, the sales manager. I can’t speak for the restaurant portion of this company as I’ve never had it, but I absolutely recommend utilizing their catering services. We are always happy to see their delivery boys early in the morning. They are friendly, professional, and have met my expectations every time.

really bad catering — i work at an office of about 50 people and we have a catered happy hour every month. that’s great, but this caterer is terrible. we had:
–pepperoni and plain mini pizzas
–mozzarella sticks
–fried zucchini sticks
–wings
–caramel apples
all the food was cold — i don’t know if that is because the company did not provide heaters, or the office did not use them. the wings were the best part — they were decent quality and had decent flavor. the pizzas were terrible — lower quality than bagel bites — congealed cheese, mushy crust, and generally tasteless (and i love pizza, and it’s hard to mess it up). at least ¼ of the mozzarella sticks were missing the cheese — they were just fried dough bits and empty inside. the zucchini sticks were mushy and tasteless. the caramel apples were coated in some kind of pink sugar coating that was not caramel, and not good. i would not use this company.

Why is there no 0 stars? This place was my go to catering company but they have really upset me with the last catering job.
We normally order 6 different appetizers for 15 – 20 people which are usually tasty but this last order the food was all bland and actually one of the dishes were rotten and carried a horrible odor that we had to throw it away. It was the beef skewers. They claim that they have a rigorous inspection process but that is no way possible because they should not have missed this.
This was at a client/​prospect event where we had people actually complain about the food and the odor. We potentially lost business from this as well. How embarrassing is it when you have multi million dollar clients telling you the food is horrible and rotten???
When I tried to discuss with our rep at the company, they basically tell me that this is not the case and we are lying. There is no reason on our part to lie about this but the way it was handled was very unprofessional. I asked for at least a 50% refund but they offered me a 10% credit which is ridiculous because we will never use this company again. The customer is always right and when a company claims you are lying, it just shows their professionalism is nonexistent.
They made no effort to make this right and I hope no one has the same experience that we have had. It took away a lot of credibility from our business.

This was one of my favorite spots. They changed their hours for a while and were not available for lunch. They have reopened for lunch but it does not appear to be the same crew. They use to make the best chicken Cesar Salad around hands down. Something has surely changed. I was so disappointed. For $ 8.00 I got a bowl of lettuce, very little chicken, almost no cheese and a few croutons. I won’t be going back

I can always depend on them. Further, they have choices for vegan and vegetarian, and can really please a large group.

ALERT!!! I love the J&V Café but I have sad news. The Café is stopping their lunch service. Starting July 16^th, 2012 they are only open 1AM to 10AM, breakfast only :(Anyone who works in the Bayshore area relies on this café for good nearby lunches. We are going to sorely miss this place!

Through a party with the worst service I have ever received. Our company threw a party at the top of the Transamerica building a couple weeks back and was told that JandV Catering would host the food and bar. I went ahead and bought $ 1600 in beverages for their bartenders to serve knowing we would just take home if we didn’t drink it all. The night immediately started to get bad and I saw hiring this company was a large mistake. 1) We spent over $ 5,500 yet no one introduced themselves and there seemed to be little to no organization.
1) We already paid a 20% gratuity on top of all the food and drinks however, the bartenders still put out a tip basket for our event. We asked them to put it away and 30 minutes later it was out again and they were greedy trying to get more tip from our family and friends which was embarrassing and disrespectful.
2) They recommended that I order too much food about 30% too much and the shrimp was burnt and greasy. The meat plate smelled really strange and didn’t seem fresh.
3) The bartenders began taking shots at our event and sneaking shots in the back. We didn’t appreciate this at all.
4) After the event, we had $ 600-​$ 750 that was stolen by the bartenders and staff after the event while our friends were trying to bring items down to the car. They stole from our event and us personally after disrespecting us. I don’t know what else to do other than write a review and hopefully people in the future can make a better decision than myself.

I used J&V catering the past 2 weeks for our new employee orientation. I love their Taco bar!

These guys are always super friendly & they set a nice looking table. Their vegetarian sandwiches are addictive. They have these extremely thin cut carrots in them that are marinated or something… hell, i don’t know what they do to those carrots, but they’re delicious.

I work for a large biotech and we are constantly having lunch meetings. I utlize J and V Catering once a week and I have had no complaints thus far.
The best thing about J and V Catering are their employees who are both friendly and professional. I have NEVER been sent to voice-​mail and they can always accommodate my mini last minute catering request.
Delivery is always on time, the set-​up is thoughtful and appealing to the eye, the pricing cannot be beat when it comes to catering in SF/​SSF and Patricia and Veronica are sweethearts.
Menu favorites: Citrus Chicken, all of the kabobs, stuffed chili rellenos, beef stir-​fry, beef teriyaki, enchilada’s (cheese and chicken).

J&V has been catering my office for the majority of the last 8 years, so I have a fairly rounded opinion on their food and service.
This caterer has served us continental breakfasts, full breakfasts, sandwiches, drinks, a taco bar, and probably other items that I havent tried.
Before commenting on the food, I should focus on the best thing about J&V — their people. The service, price, and reliability of J&V are all fantastic. This caterer is our preferred vendor for 99% of our catering needs here in the office.
That being said, I just covered the best thing about J&V.
90% of the food served by J&V is mediocre at best when its fresh and hot. If it sits on the table for 10 – 20 minutes, sterno or no sterno, it begins to move in the direction of inedible.
I will say the taco bar that J&V provides is very good! This is the one item they serve us that consistently gets people motivated to line up and have a proper helping. The taco bar from J&V is so good, some people in my office actually talk to their coworkers during these events!
All in all, I rate J&V 3 stars. This is primarily driven by their service, reliability, and consistency. The quality of the food itself would be a 2.
These caterers get the job done, but dont expect to be wowed by the food.
It is noteworthy that my office was just served grilled hotdogs from J&V. I almost managed to finish 2 of them, but the nauseousness in my stomach stopped me cold. My coworker is now passed out in his chair and the last thing he said to me was, «Those dogs… they really did me in…»

I really appreciate the great service and quality from J&V. They are super easy to work with, and respond with a quote within an hour of your initial call. I have always been very pleased with the food, although I have only used them for small and large events for box lunches and breakfast or snack set-​ups. Just this week, we did two days of meetings straight through — we had breakfast burritos (meat and vegetarian options), make-​your-​own yogurt parfait with fresh berries, fantastic sandwiches and wraps the first day — salads the next. Very good experience, as always. I highly recommend them. Also, they use all the current bio-​friendly products. Ask for Vanesa.

I used J & V Catering this week for an event at the Museum of the African Diaspora. They are the preferred caterer for MOAD. The service was top notch. They setup quickly. The food looked and tasted good. Our account rep, Patricia, selected tablecloths and other decorations that really accentuated our own theme colors.
I found them easy to work with as we planned our event. The servers were cheerful and friendly. We’re already thinking about next year and J & V will be our caterer again.
