Have tried Instacart three times now. It’s a pretty mixed experience. Summary: very expensive, kind of annoying to manage the shoppers and substitution requests, delivery windows that aren’t accurate, and at the end of it all, every order had at least one thing wrong with it. I should mention that you have to tip before your order arrives. Seriously, you have to tip before you know if your eggs are broken! Instacart’s customer service generally seems ok, as they’re fixing things when they break down, but I have to say this company won’t get a lot of repeat business from us when it only gets things right 90% of the time. You end up paying a solid 30−40% on top of what you’d normally spend on groceries, given that you have to pay for delivery, a tip, and that the cost of goods is higher out of the gate. If you don’t care about a few mistakes on your orders, don’t mind managing random shoppers and delivery folks, and don’t mind a 30−40% premium on your groceries — and I’m sure this is applicable for many! — then Instacart is likely your jam. As for me, I’ll keep doing things the old-fashioned way for now.

I strongly recommend to stay away from this on-line grocery delivery company. I decided to use them since I didn’t have time to shop myself. Horrible from the top to the bottom. My order total was $ 90 on Instacart total. I was charged $ 108 + they charged me $ 8 tips that I didn’t put. They brought me organic chicken that was expired the same day as a delivery date, the price on a package was $ 8 but they charged me $ 19.99 instead. There is no customer service number to call or company address. I submitted my complaint via e-mail. They apologized and said they will give me a free delivery and $ 15 credit for next purchase which I didn’t want. I wanted a refund for the amount I was overcharged. And when I asked why the prices are significantly higher then in the actual store. Their respond was that they charge additional fees for each item. Also they were texting me every 5 minutes and delivery lady called me 4 – 5 times to see if i want to substitute the items for something else when I chose no substitution for any of them. It’s dishonest company that overcharge, annoys with unwanted calls and messages. Sincerely.
