We had a nice walk around Fisherman’s wharf and decided to stop here for brunch due to the good Unilocal reviews. Our first time here and we ordered the crab benedict with the fruit bowl. The fruit bowl contained a generous variety of fresh fruit. The crab benedict was well prepared. We also ordered the strawberry pancakes, which smelled good thanks to the fresh cream and strawberries. We enjoyed our brunch very much. The service was friendly and efficient.

Visiting Hollywood Café was a delightful and delicious experience. The food was really tasty — OMG so yummy! The portions were enormous, and the service was excellent. My son and I enjoyed the Hollywood Hashbrowns, which was served with bacon, grilled onions and peppers, cheese and our choice of eggs, along with avocado(extra) and sourdough toast covered in housemade jam. My husband had the Vanilla French Toast… to which I of course helped myself. The French toast was incredible — with a crispy coating outside, and perfectly cooked center(no mush inside and no eggy coating outside). The French toast is served with a banana purée sauce that I must admit does not look completely appetizing, but it is absolutely delectable. I would have guzzled it with a straw if they let me. The French toast was topped with a light sprinkling of powdered sugar, whipped cream and almonds. Oh so yummy! My daughter ordered the Strawberry pancakes — also terrific. So much that she ordered them every time we ate at Hollywood Café. We couldn’t talk her into anything else. The pancakes looked light and fluffy, and were topped with whipped cream and ton of fresh strawberries. If you’re visiting Fisherman’s Wharf, the Hollywood Café is a «must try.» Don’t be intimidated by the line. It moves quickly and it gives you a great opportunity to explore their extensive menu of deliciousness. I do recommend you arrive early if possible, but either way — this place is worth the wait. Enjoy!

Very good! I like this place. I knew that brunch in SF would involve a line but it moved really fast and I think the servers move fast. I got the vanilla banana french toast(3 wedges) and plenty of fruit. It was tasty and well made. I definitely enjoyed it and finished it all. My boyfriend got the Denver omelet and I will definitely try that next time! Its a big omelet with everything in it and a SHEET of hash brown. Every brunch place has a unique way of making their hash browns and I really like their way. In addition, there was three slices of bread(sour dough?) with warm butter. I stole some of his bread and it was FANTASTIC. The omelet is like 2.5 dollars more but it definitely has more food. I intend to get it next time. We will be coming back next time. PS. Trip Advisor gave this place a certificate lol so expect a good amount of the demographic to be tourists(this place is still good and not too expensive!).

Hollywood Café has other omelettes I want to try. ********** Stuffed my face in: 1. Eggs Benedict: Kimchi + Properly fermented cabbage puts an Eastern spin on a Western dish. If you’re visiting SF and are in the fisherman’s wharf area this is the place to go for breakfast! Such fresh amazing food. My party and I stayed at the hotel Zephyer(Definitely recommend staying there) and Hollywood café is only 2 blocks aways from the hotel. This place gets packed so come early and be open to sitting outside if you want to be seated quickly. Went here twice during my visit. I definitely recommend: –Mocha coffee –french toast combo –hashbrowns –fruit bowl –breakfast salad Amazing food and for SF the prices are definitely not too bad. For 4 people the bills ended up being around $ 60 bucks. Love this place!

Ok so it was my first time being up in San Francisco, and it was my first day with 2 of my friends that wanted to explore. We woke up and decided to go eat some breakfast, we searched on Unilocal and found this place near by from where we were staying at, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself was cute and not too big and it gave a semi 50s feel to it. The menu did have wide selections to eat and for good prices! 2 of my fiends got omelets but I got the Carmel Fried banana French toast with walnuts. I first ordered a glass of OJ since the workers said it was really popular and oh my god, I have never tired an OJ like that one, it fresh sweet and every right bit of tangy, totally worth $ 4. Once our food came the presentation was lovely and the fruit looked supper fresh. Costumer service was great, workers were kind and quick and when they brought our food, BIGPORTIONS for good prices. I still recall the first bite of the French toast and WOWBESTFRENCHTOAST I HAVEEVERPUTINMYMOUTH!!! It was crispy and sugary on the outside and soft and warm in the inside, and the bananas and walnuts were beautifully caramelized. I enjoyed every bite of it so much, I actually finished all of my meal, which I hardly ever do! This brunch place is now actually on my top 3 favorite brunch places of all time, and I highly recommend this place to anyone, wether you are a local or a tourist. The food is absolutely Devine and the costumer service is great and fast. Even though it might look like your typical brunch restaurant on the outside, there’s gold in the inside!!!

I enjoyed my crab omelet. It wasn’t salty and honestly it could use a bit more salt, but I didn’t mind since it’s healthier with less salt. My husband had the meat lover omelet and I think it was perfectly seasoned since the meat was salty. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. The line wasn’t bad since we were there by 9am. One of the staff passed out menus while you wait in line. By the time they’re ready to seat you, they take your order before sitting you at you’re table. Talk about being efficient. Friendly staff and very quick paced for them.

+1 more to my list of favorite brunch places! This place is pretty amazing. Came here on a Saturday morning around 11 am and the wait was about 30 mins for a party of 2, which also happened to be one of the shorter times I had to wait for brunch. There is no waitlist, instead you just line up outside the door and you get seated when you’re first in line. They may or may not take your order while you’re in line, but regardless if they do or not, the service was good in the sense that you wouldn’t have to wait forever to place your order. I had the pleasure of ordering the crabs benedict and oh my buddha, this is definitely one of the best brunch dish I had. The crab was real(not thoose imitation stuff) and they did not cheap out of the meat as well. Although the crab had a slight fishy taste to it, the dish overall was really good. The dish also comes with hashbrown(which were good although slightly soggy at some parts) and bread + butter(wished they gave us more butter though) Overall, I highly recommend this place. Service wasn’t lacking, the line wasn’t bad and the food was delicious !

I have to say, I am impressed. I thought this spot would be another over-hyped brunch spot, but I was pleasantly surprised. I came here with a girlfriend to celebrate her super late birthday. We both opted for a Hollywood Favorite: she got the Vivian Leigh and I got the Marilyn. First off, as many other Unilocalers had mentioned, their fruit portions are huge. If you aren’t a big breakfast person, it’s a mean in itself. Not only were the portions great, but the variety plus the quality of the fruit just makes it even better. Don’t even get me started on the french toast… I want to say it was the best french toast I’ve ever had because it was cooked so perfectly: that crisp on the outside that gives you that nice texture and bite and then nice and chewy in the middle. Even after the french toast cooled down and sat on my plate as I attended to my fussing son, it still held it’s texture and was simply divine. Service here was superb. Even with a line and the hustle and bustle of Saturday brunch, they were very accommodating to my son and I – they saw I had a stroller and gave me a table that had easy access and helped me move it in and out when the table next to us left and the next party got seated. They also filled our water multiple times. This place is a must for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. I look forward to my next trek to SF so I can come back and try more of their dishes!

I like to try new places at least once. I like to eat at new restaurant at least once a week. I like to eat at Hollywood Café in Fisherman’s Wharf, despite it being touristy area. The line may seem long, but do not let it fool you. It was less than twenty minutes wait for us. Hungry, need to eat quickly? They got you covered! Within minutes of ordering the food, it came out quickly and ready to be devoured. The fresh fruit bowl was ginormous. An egg Benedict and scramble egg was huge portion. The service was fast and friendly. I enjoyed this breakfast spot. I hope you give it a try. Cheers!

Had the crab meat omelette with the fruit bowl. Even though this place is in Fisherman’s Wharf(tourist area) it’s really good and not too expensive. This place is always busy almost any day of the week so it’s good to come early! We came before 8 and it was pretty much filled and we had to sit on the sidewalk. The omelette was great, it came with a huge abundance of fried vegetable, bacon, green onions, green pepper and red onions. Also it came with a ton of crab meat inside and a huge flat perfectly cooked hash brown. The omelette itself was cooked for just the right amount of time. Good service and fair prices!

The old saying«quality and quantity doesn’t come in the same package» doesn’t apply here but expect to pay for it. We arrived here not long after they opened to try and avoid the long lines and that strategy seemed to work, but it’s apparent that a lot of other people do the same so at some point it just won’t matter five minutes after we were seated the line was at least 20 people deep. The food is truly amazing as hundreds before me have stated there is no doubt about it. I have had similar breakfast experiences but those have been rare so I agree this is a pretty special place. The food is well prepared and the presentation is about as creative as you could ever expect I mean how many ways can you arrange breakfast well it appears there are an infinite amount of ways, looking around at the staff its difficult to see where the talent lies especially if you look at the amount of food the kitchen puts out. Hollywood Hashbrowns — simply amazing Meat Lovers Omelette — simply amazing Fruit Bowl — simply amazing Sourdough Toast — simply amazing It’s impossible for me to give this place anything less than 5 stars, if I found any weakness it’s space, the tables are small and very close together, so hopefully you’re fortunate enough to have good neighbors, we weren’t so luck no fault of the restaurant but very distracting and it did negatively affect the over-all experience. We had two loud mouth arrogant business men practically sitting right of top of us, in between them throwing the F-bomb out ever other word they were spitting their food while smacking the entire time, I so regret not requesting another table in a way that would of been obvious to those jerks. So yes the close proximity of the tables in some sections are a problem but it won’t deter people from swarming here.

Breakfast at the Wharf This place completely surprised me! It is a few blocks away from me and although I have walked by it many times, I always snubbed it because I saw it as a «tourist hangout»! Well surprise surprise! It may be a tourist hangout but the food is pretty good and the prices are very reasonable. It is a small place, but if you are big on breakfast or Brunch, I can tell you that you won’t be disappointed. If you are a local, you’ll have to rub shoulders with tourists, but what’s wrong with that as long as the food and the service is good?! Anyway, local or visitor, give it a try if you are around and judge for yourself.

I find it rather amusing that Jamie W. and I decided to eat here just before taking the three-hour San Francisco Movie Tour. It’s like we intentionally built a Tinseltown theme around our entire Saturday morning when honestly I was just reading that the breakfasts here were pretty good. But then again, I really don’t know any locals who admit to coming here since it’s in the heart of the tourist zone on Northpoint at Fisherman’s Wharf. Sure enough, as I was walking toward the place from Columbus, I saw the place was packed with tourists speaking with all sorts of accents from across the country and around the world. Apparently all the tourists at the big hotels had been informed to come here(photo: ). It’s not a big place and it appeared that half the seating was outside on the sidewalk judging by how many tables they squeezed onto the pavement. We got lucky because a large group of Germans, the Von Trapp family I’m presuming, was just being seated as we swooped in and got a table on the sidewalk. Moments later, a long queue formed, and the hostess was not about to tolerate any line cuts or unnecessary badgering. She treated them like the prisoners of war in «Platoon» and even dictated how people should stand and stop blocking the sidewalk. She handed out one menu per party as she made it clear she was taking it back the moment they get seated. Such authority, such unblinking conviction. I think I was in love. The servers moved like whirling dervishes, and we felt like pawns in a game of speed chess. Of course, I went with the Hollywood theme, surprisingly bypassing both the Audrey Hepburn and the Gregory Peck(even though I love«Roman Holiday») in favor of the Vivien Leigh, which consisted of scrambled eggs with chopped bacon and melted cheddar, all of it stuffed into a jumbo croissant, and served with an overflowing fruit cup festooned with berries(photo: ). The berries were fresh and sweet, and while I liked the girth and flavor of the croissant sandwich, it was lukewarm, a disappointment considering how robust it looked on the plate. Jamie decided to go with one of the omelets, the classic $ 12.50 Denver. It was pretty hefty with ham, cheese, bell pepper and mild cheddar, and then he let all hell break loose with Hollywood’s Hash Brown, which was a bargain at just $ 2 extra since it was a flat of hash browns topped with bacon, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers and cheddar(photo: ). Again the massive size of the portion was compromised by the low temperature of the dish. We were wondering if the dishes were pre-made to some degree to increase the turnover of the tables. I wouldn’t have minded this approach had they mastered the timing more. I think if the hostess took a bite, she would have thrown the plate at the chef and told him to start over again. There aren’t enough drill sergeants like her in the restaurant business. FOOD — 3 stars… huge truck-driver-size portions and great fruit cup but hamstrung by lukewarm temperatures AMBIANCE — 2.5 stars… every inch of that space was used SERVICE — 3 stars… buzzsaws but none sharper than that hostess, she scares yet excites me TOTAL — 3 stars… Hooray for Hollywood?

Every time I come to the US I like to start my first day with a greasy breakfast :-) so in searching for a local greasy spoon came across this place and decided to give it a try. I arrived at 7:30am and it was packed. I am guessing its popular with people in the area and by 7:45 there was about 10 people waiting for tables. It’s not a very big place and there is seating outside as well for the warmer days. It’s breakfast and lunch menu. The bread here is excellent… coming from Germany an important part of a good breakfast ;-)) I had the hash brown with eggs and sweet bacon… the bacon is marinated in a secret sauce and looks gooey and black and I loved it :-)) the hash brown was ok nothing special and the eggs cooked to perfection. Coffee was good as was the fresh orange juice. I would come back here again and enjoy other items on the breakfast menu. They only seat full parties so if there are people missing in your party wait it out as they do get a bit upset, like they did with me as I took a table and waited for my friend to arrive ;-))

Breakfast to the max! Located directly across the street from our hotel and very close to Fishermans Wharf I could see the long lines every morning from our hotel room & thought to myself we have to try this place out. First time we waited over half an hour. Rarely would I say the wait is worth it but it really was! The service was awesome(a family affair). It’s incredible to see people so happy early in the morning since I don’t get it together until the afternoon. The food was fantastic! Maple glazed bacon(one word — BOMB), perfectly crispy hash browns that were as big as your plate, perfectly cooked eggs and delicious fresh fruit. On a side note the fruit bowls here are no joke. See the other Unilocalers pics to check those out! My man ordered ham which was massive and everything came with fresh bread accompanied by homemade jam & some butter. We loved it all! This place has indoor seating as well as outdoor and we were lucky enough to experience both during our trip. Locals would bring their fur babies which I always love seeing pet friendly businesses and it was a great start to every day in San Fran!
