The pizza is the best! The Alexander is what I go for with extra chz. The service is poor but the pizza makes up for it. The girl busser was good to us, but the lady server who took our order had a horrible attitude. She thought we were talking about her when she came to take our order and called my friend out on it! You can tell she hates her job, just nasty. But when the pizza came she disappeared and the meal was the best ! I’ve read a few reviews and a lot say the service isn’t good. Get it owners???

I ordered a pizza at 1:40 today and I’ve waited 6 hours and still no pizza!!! I called 3 times and asked if my order was taken and if they made it. And they kept saying that it was in the oven. After calling 3 times I gave up. Never ordering from here again.

I have been a loyal customer of Haystack’s Pizza for over 20 years. Lately, the service and quality of the food has vastly diminished. The pizza we recently ordered was mushy and not cooked thoroughly. It was so subpar that we had to throw it away. After spending $ 53 for a pizza and a salad, we have to turn elsewhere. At first, we thought this was an «off day,» but it happened twice! And after bringing it to Haystack’s attention, there was absolutely no attempt to remedy the situation. In fact, two different workers were rude over the phone. After explaining the situation to Angel… All she could say was: «and?!» No attempt to fix the situation. You would think they would recognize my address and order, since we regularly order the same pizza. I have to take my weekly pizza business elsewhere, and I will share this with family and friends.

Been ordering from here for the past 10 years. The food is decent but not amazing. Every time you call, you will speak with the rudest person. You will want to hang up and order from somewhere else, but maybe realize it’s late so you go through with your order even though you’ve regretted giving money to a business that has treated you so badly. I’ll give two stars because the food passes for delivery, but honestly wish I would never have to talk to one of their employees ever again.

Classic neighborhood pizza restaurant and bar. I have been a regular for years and always find the staff very friendly and attentive.

Cheap, kid friendly Italian restaurant. Most things are covered in butter, the portions are big and the price is fair given the neighborhood. We only come here when we are with folks with kids. Pizza is fair– good but nothing special. The service can be pretty slow though.

I really enjoyed my meal from Haystacks. The artichoke & crab Meze was delicious as well and the antipasta salad and the Zorba pizza. What I didn’t enjoy was the RUDE service we received. Which is why the low star score. We were seated in the very back area and it took forever for someone to take our drink order or offer water. We were the only ones seated back there. It took another 10 min or so after that for the server to come back with our drinks. After we ordered, our food came out fairly fast. What I didn’t appreciate was when we ordered desert. The server/busboy(short guy with nappy long hair who ties it back in a man bun) took our desert order got our order wrong. We ordered pecan pie and pumpkin cheesecake. Not that hard to remember. Instead he brought out 2 different pies. When we told him that these were the wrong pies, he gets mad and storms off saying loud enough so that we can hear«Damn, I’m just trying to go home already!» and continues bitching and complaining as he walks into the kitchen. Mind you, the kitchen isn’t that far from where we are sitting so we heard everything. The lady who was our original server comes back to apologize but the damage was already done. Now I understand why this place has such a low rating. I would never want someone who has an attitude and is rude to customers working for me.

In love! This is my new favorite place. The service sucks but the amazing food makes up for it! I ordered the vegetarian pizza and let me tell you it was the best I’ve ever had! The bottom crust was crispy, the sauce was delish and the vegetables were plenty. ½ of the pizza had pepperoni and it was good too. Oh, the iced tea is also on point. I can’t wait to bring some friends. It’s a hidden gem. I saw some of the other pasta dishes coming out of the kitchen and they looked good too. It’s a very family kinda of place and the 80’s music just added to the atmosphere. David Bowie + pizza = win!

Pizza was great and salad dressing was so so good. They delivered at midnight which was a tad bit later than what was told to me, so that is my only –1 star.

I really like haystack! Not sure why they only have 3 reviews! We had garlic chicken, onions and mushrooms on our pizza and it was delicious! Service is very nice and parking isn’t so bad as you far usually find some parking in the homes around the block. Nice bars and lounges nearby should you want to grab an after dinner drink.

The woman who takes the orders put me on hold twice tonight and couldn’t get my phone number right after I gave it to her 4 times. 4. That has to be a new record for a native english speaker in the service industry. When I got upset, she said I anger easily. Thanks for the feedback.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Extremely rude service. Delivery that took hours and cold(incorrect) pizza. The food here can sometimes be pretty good but the service is so bad it doesn’t make it worth it. Dining in is a bit better than delivery, but the staff is still rude either way.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I most definitely would. Waited over 3 hours for my pizza to be delivered. Driver said nobody picked up the phone, this is a lie we confirmed it 3 – 4 times every time we checked by calling the restaurant. Waited next to our phone for over 3 hours and didn’t receive anything. Just cancelled the pizza. Definitely not paying a single cent it’s been 4 hours now at the time of writing this. Off to find pizza elsewhere by foot. Update: Pizza came in the middle of a very heated conversation between my father and their manager. I calmed him down and went outside to get the pizza. No tip, judge all you want, there is no pity when my 9 year old sister goes to sleep without food because it’s 2 hours past her bed time. Paid the exact price and we parted ways. Never ordering from here again. I recommend Marcello’s Pizza. Tastier and much better service. I’ve had pizzas delivered within 35 minutes from them.

Haystack has a lot of overpriced unpleasant Italian style food of all sorts. Veal Parmesan filed with lots of gristle and too much soggy stale breading was particularly foul. So-called thin crust cheese pizza missed the mark-Too much cheese and sauce with a mealy crust. Years ago when my kids were young and liked going there it might have been better. Noe Valley needs a good casual Italian place and Haystack is not the one. I must say the wait staff is nice.

I was actually gonna hold off on writing this, but after reading the most recent posts, this restaurant needs a serious wake up review. Now, I could go on for sentences talking about how awesome this place USED to be, or how the décor is outdated, blah blah blah. I honestly don’t give a rats about minor things like that. No Haystack, let me tell you about what I expected from you this particular evening, and what I received instead. I had an awesome walking trip with my family, from Glen Park, all the way up Diamond Heights, back down through Noe Valley, and finally making it to 24th. We were tired, we were hungry. And I personally had a young child who was very whinny after the long walk. We went to the first pizza place nearest to us, and had lame service there(check my last review), then left to find a better place. That’s when my GF tells me, «Let’s go to Haystack!», and a rush of feel good memories hits me. Some of our best dates were at this place. The last time we walked the same route with my family, we ended up here and had a blast. So I was DOWN to eat there. Enough beating around the bush, let me tell you WHEREYOUJACKEDUP(please DON’T excuse my french, because Unilocal’s guidelines won’t allow me to swear). When our FIRST pizza came, it was a size smaller than what we ordered, plus had the wrong toppings. Hey, no big deal, just flag down the waiter, have him take it back, right? Or, it would be right, if the bushy haired server didn’t make a face like we’re stupid. Didn’t even apologize. Dude, in the food industry, I don’t care if you didn’t even look at the food, you apologize even if its not your fault. Unspoken rule. Period. Our waitress comes by, shows us the ticket to prove it wasn’t her fault. That’s cool, kinda unnecessary, but that’s cool. SECOND pizza comes. Got the right toppings, YAY. Still the wrong size. Of course we have no choice but to call back the wonderful guy who served it to us, he makes an exasperated sigh(pft, like we WANTED to talk you). So we let him know it a size too small, and that we ordered a medium. What does he say? «That is a medium» Wow. You work with pizza. All day. Errday. And we’re having size issues? I had to check him with what his menu says, 10 slices for medium. 8 for a small. What statement does he counter with? «Look man, I don’t slice the pizzas, I just serve them.» That statement speaks for itself of how bad your restaurant sucks. I was so ready to go, but I couldn’t, since my fussy child was ready to snap without some pizza. Our waitress comes back, tries to mitigate the situation, halfway through the conversation, server dude comes back with the right one, explains how he got it mixed up. Still no apology, at all, and this time it actually was his fault. Fine, whatever. You know, with that attitude, how am I supposed to feel about what happened to the pizza in the back while you were with it… exactly, right? The readers get me. Then, our waitress decides to throw us the whole«let me get you something comp’d» line. Again wasn’t necessary, but she offered free desserts. Cool. After we were done with our meal, she was nowhere to be found. What a surprise. Made an empty promise. Like the empty promise your restaurant is. Now, the main thing that reeeeeally grinded my gears was the server. Look, man, you were walking around with a nasty scowl on your face. Do you hate your job? If so, why are still there? I don’t know if this is you everyday, but going off of my experience with you, you don’t belong in the restaurant biz. You suck, man. Go find a better profession, and stop making people have bad experiences there, you obviously aren’t down for the cause. I say this not as a Unilocaler, but as a human being. Go find your place in this world, a pizza shop is most def not it. As for the restaurant in its entirety, I don’t think you should care about whether or not I actually come back. What I really think you should be thinking about is how many bad reviews is it gonna take before you guys realize you suck? Oh yeah the pizza was ok. I check back in a year or two from now, just to see if you guys are still around and convert on the multiple feedback. Hopefully bushy haired angry server won’t be there ;)

POISONED, THENIGNORED!!! My wife got the cajun linguine with shrimp, which was so-so. 10 minutes later, she was puking her guts out in the clearest case of bad-seafood poisoning imaginable. This was the only thing she had eaten for 8 hours so it was definitely the Haystack shrimp! So I called them, not angry(hey, sh*t happens) but to warn them to get rid of that shrimp so other people don’t get sick — and it was scary to see how sick my wife was, and in pain for a full day afterward. I was IGNORED(placed on indefinite hold 3 times) then LIEDTO repeatedly(manager was«not there,» then«in a meeting» –at 10:30 pm!!!-then she had«just left,» and finally«would call me right back from her cell phone.» Never heard from her, ever. So…if you want to get poisoned, then lied to, then ignored, by all means go to Haystack Pizza on 24th. VERY bad experience!

This place is quiet nice for dinner. I tried their buffalo chicken and cheese pizza. Chicken strips are crispy and fresh but salty but the pizzas are really good. One thing I didn’t like about this place is the service, I guess there are very few people taking orders and we had to wait quite sometime for our chance. Over all food is good but the service is very pathetic. This is my first review in Unilocal, hope it helps.

It’s strange that the name has the word«pizza» in it, because as near as I can tell, this place does not serve pizza. What they do serve is a type of soggy flatbread covered with cheese and oil, and burnt to a crisp. They then have the audacity to put this thing in a box and ask you to pay for it. With dinner successfully ruined, we both decided to have some oatmeal instead. I’ve posted a picture of our pizza, it was supposed to be the Alberto’s Classico.

Wow! The doorbell rang & it was the pizza delivery guy. And voila! A piping hot pizza(yes hot) arrived from Haystack. The best pizza there is the simple New York. It tastes just like an honest to goodness New York slice, the delicious kind that you fold & eat. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce sublime. The cheese is perfect, and the herbs add a subtle flavor. But back to the sauce – it’s so good. At $ 13.50 for a medium pie, this beats pretentious Una Pizza Napolitana by a mile. Sure, UPN is good – but it’s twenty-five bucks & Zero Zero is less expensive & just as good. Plus Zero won’t shame you for asking for chili pepper flakes.(That’s right folks – Una Pizza Pretenciosa doesn’t ALLOW any condiments except salt. And I’ve had pizza in Napoli, & it doesn’t cost $ 25.) Haystack’s NY pizza is the like Napoli’s spunky cousin. It looks different, tastes different –but she’s just as tasty. Dining in is like stepping back to the Mad Men 60s. Sit with your pals in the back room, and order a a carafe of Burgundy(yes, Burgundy – I told you, it’s old school;) & a plate of antipasti. It comes with the usual suspects: salami, olives, pepperoncini. Then get that New York. You’ll be glad you did.
