From around the neighborhood and recently tried this place… again. then again.and then once more yesterday. Classic american diner kind of food. I love that i can sit and eat in front of the kitchen where my food is being made by the bad ass asian chef and his compadre. GREAT food. GREAT prices, classic.

No frills, old-school diner. A gem in a city full of venture capitalist food.

Great neighborhood old school café. It’s been here forever, staff is friendly, yes they have WiFi and they serve breakfast all day. Thankfully, I’m within walking distance.

Local diner that’s been open since the 60s? You bet we’re gonna try it out. My boyfriend LOVES diners. I feel like we’re constantly on our own Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives episode. I’ve seriously seen Hamburger Haven my whole life. I just never went in. At first sight, it’s a small and cute little diner space. But they keep it clean and it’s relatively updated. We sat in the back room and had lukewarm coffee for the first cup. But I’ll give it to them because they brewed a fresh pot without us mentioning it. Ordered two California omelettes, one with added mushrooms, the other with added spinach. They forgot to put bacon in one and were apologetic and brought out some hot chopped bacon. I ate them as chips :) GREATSERVICE. Realizing a mistake before we even noticed. We also ordered the full french toast breakfast. But the best part of the meal? THEPOTATOES. The bf said the country potatoes were great but I asked for some extra crispy hashbrowns, and they did NOT disappoint. I will seriously be back just for that. Prices aren’t too high(which is what you’re basically expecting nowadays in SF) and the food is really hot and good. Pro tip: Ask for extra crispy hash browns. TLDR: Get the potatoes.

Great breakfast!!! The diner is small and nostalgic but the food is fantastic! I had the french toast full stack and sausage. much better than eating at Dennys! Great prices too!

Ok. Upgrading to 4 stars. The burger really is deserving, and my son confirmed it. So here it is :)

I came here with my Friday and had the most tastiest burger ever. There sunrise burger is to die. Once you have one of these it ruins all other crappy burgers for you.

I liked my burger so much last week that I wanted to try their Breakfast. This morning, I had their Irish Breakfast, which consists of 2 eggs, 2 slices of Irish Bacon, 2 Irish sausages, hash browns, and toast. I’ve never been to Ireland, but the Irish bacon is similar(or identical) to the bacon I’ve had in the UK, so it’s a lot more meatier and tastes like ham. The Irish sausage seemed similar to a British Banger — it seemed have some breadcrumbs mixed in with the pork. At any rate, i was very happy with my breakfast, so i recommend Hamburger Haven for burgers and for breakfast.

Food is standard diner fare, but exceptionally overpriced, though the weekday specials are a decent value. Breakfasts are anemic and are barely filling, yet have risen in price by up to $ 3.00 with no visible benefit. My shock came with a single waffle, doughy and undercooked, for $ 6.95 which has motivated us to walk a couple doors up to Ono Grindz and get our money’s worth for Sunday breakfasts. The burgers have suffered the same price/value inequality, but in their defense, the flavor was good and the lunch was filling and satisfying. I gave an extra star for the service and friendliness, and it’s neighborhood atmosphere we’ve enjoyed as a family for decades. I can imagine the price increases are a combination of factors, but the prices are on par for much better fare at other places just a few blocks away. All in all, it’s the same restaurant but you’ll spend 10 – 12 bucks more for the same family breakfast adventure, for the same food.

Part of SF Inner Richmond history. No frills. Offering American fare such a breakfast, burgers, sandwiches. Casual, clean, fast, and excellent service. This is your standard old school café style American joint. Family owned and regulars are here on the daily!

I come to this place at least 4 times a week for breakfast. The reason is that they provide great service. I don’t even have to ask to refill my coffee. They are very attentive to that. They remember who you are and what you always order. I am now a regular.

This place has been here for as long as I can remember, and I wish I would have walked in here sooner! I’m not a big burger fan, so I just assumed that’s all they sold here. But they serve so much more! It’s your typical diner, and they serve breakfast, burgers(of course), sandwiches, and salads. This place is so quaint, and my server was very nice. She checked up on me and made sure I had everything I needed. I came here for dinner and opted to get the haven burger. It came with grilled onions, mushrooms, avocado, and cheese, and it was really yummy. I chose the side of fries, which would have been better if they were salted. I am definitely coming back here!

Love me a pancake breakfast. My bf likes the biscuits and gravy a lot. Morning weekend staff is awesome. Everything comes out fast. Sadly one time they didn’t have meatballs when I Ordered spaghetti and meatballs for dinner but it’s ok it happens. Their burgers are good.

More like Hangover Haven. New Year’s Day around 3pm. Wanted/needed a diner. Finally stumbled upon Hamburger Haven. Had chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, 2 over easy eggs and bottomless coffee. It was the perfect diner breakfast. That is all.

The burger itself is good, nothing special, but good. On the other hand the service is among the worst I have ever seen. The waitress is unfriendly, didn’t hand us the menu but asked twice if we were ready to order. I never wrote a review before but the lady serving the tables impressed me in a very bad way!

You know that old school, mom and pop establishment, that’s been in your neighborhood for as long as you can remember? Hamburger Haven is one of those establishments. It’s a no nonsense spot that has that«grandma’s kitchen» vibe. If you’re looking for your run of the mill american breakfast spot, Hamburger Haven is going to be your best choice in the Inner Richmond neighborhood.

Generally speaking when you walk into an establishment that still does not take credit cards you sometimes have that worried and wondering feeling whether or not you have enough to pay. Noticeably some places have a minimum before you can use your plastic card but that is not the case here. Additionally décor around the restaurant itself looks very dated as Pre-New Kids On The Block dated… However the menu itself is actually much more expansive than what you would find at Dennys or IHOP. And buy expensive I mean the quality here is better than going to a sh*t 24 hour cholesterol joint like those mentioned above. Irish Break fest Check. Bacon Eggs Hashbrowns and a shake… Check…Double burgers and Bacon. Check. Coke…Check… And also for the early birds like me. The(younger) waitress that is here doesn’t have that bitter and resentful contentious look that many of those who work at IHOP or Denny’s seem to give off… She’s actually pretty friendly and decent looking compared to those other Lost-In-Transition drones you usually come across… 1)Bacon is cookies thoroughly but not the point where you’re eating brick chips. Not undercooked so no health scare.(+1) 2)Egg scrambled NOT made from egg«concentrate» like some other laces that shall not be named again (+1) 3) HashBrowns. Lightly grilled on the outside but everything holds together pretty well. No ketchup needed really unless its out of habit from dealing with the McDonalds variant.(+1) Normally I am not fond of places whom resort to using Ocean Spray fruit juices… but its 8 in the morning. too early for an early bird quality control ripping… Additionally you don’t get rushes out the door either so that’s a good sign of a working management system too. For those on the east bay who don’t want to take the chance at crossing the bridge just to get here. Your Breakfast Equivalent would be either 1.Gillan Grill(customer service interaction would be degraded though judging from my last encounter) 2.Bistro 1491… No burgers here… — – Speaking of dated… the Burger And Breakfast Quality is MUCH better here than Au CoQuelet in Berkeley though… that location hasn’t changed since Nixon Got Iced… However the only drawback for me about this place really is that the generally clientele are either current t or soon to be members of the golden girls club. haha… Seeing some one of my age group here at times is the equivalent to saying the Raiders made it in to the playoffs.

The Haven burger was very good, service was very friendly but the server seemed either new or like she was just a friend of the restaurant helping out– she stood in the back room the entire time chatting and we had to flag her down– she was extremely nice nonetheless. The onion rings were pretty bad– flavorless and overly heavily breaded. Also did my fellow ranch ppl– it’s the bottled kind here :/ I’d definitely return for a burger and fries and I’d love to try breakfast.

I’m sure I’ve passed by Hamburger Haven over the years without ever taking notice. I was probably on my way to a far trendier eatery ready to dine with hipsters half my age and twice as obnoxious. However, a moment of sheer spontaneity brought Jamie W. and me here as we impulsively boarded the 2-Clement on Market Street and took it to the end of the line around 12th Avenue. Strolling on Clement, we noticed how quiet the place was, and that appealed to us at that very moment. Once you enter, you feel like you’re in an Edward Hopper painting with lonely-looking souls eating by themselves. We parked ourselves in a two-seat booth along the wall and perused a menu that offered no less than 24 different hamburgers. Jamie went for his old stand-by, the $ 8.95 Patty Melt, which was exactly what it was supposed to be, a burger with grilled onions and melted jack cheese squeezed between two slices of toasted rye(see photo). Me, I felt an obligation to try the $ 9.50 Haven Burger, presumably the house special with avocado, sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions and melted jack cheese atop a medium-rare burger(see photo). It wasn’t amazing, but it was good, solid comfort food. Plenty of fries came with both of our burgers, and they were moist on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside. But even before my burger and fries, I had a $ 1.95 cup of their Chicken Rice Soup(see photo). Piping hot but comforting on a cold night. No complaints about the food whatsoever. It was exactly what Jamie and I wanted that evening. All the time we were there, there was barely a change in the clientele. Two solitary diners left, two more came in, usually being very chatty with the cook who looks like he’s been manning the grill for quite sometime. Service was very low-key but attentive. Some of the daily specials they had listed sounded tempting like their Pork Roast on Tuesdays and their Shredded BBQ Pork Sandwich on Wednesdays, which I assume they make from the leftover pork from Tuesday. Yep, it’s a no-frills, comfort-food diner alright. FOOD — 4 stars… delivers the quality you expect and then some AMBIANCE — 3 stars… formica and naugahyde like ebony and ivory SERVICE — 3.5 stars… like I said, low-key but definitely present TOTAL — 4 stars… an unpolished gem of a greasy spoon if you ask me
