This location offers the shortest walk to coffee in the morning. As such, I find myself here often. The coffee is generally pretty good, and the female staff is super nice and kind of adorable. I have ordered a few chai lattes here that tasted like milk + sugar; the baristas might want to look into this. Also, the«coffee shop» is more like a kiosk you would expect to find erected for a weekend sporting event. Which if you ask me is a little embarrassing since Grace Cathedral is so magnificent in other respects. Oh well, normally I show up in pajamas, so maybe it’s all for the best.

I would have liked it if there were more food items here, but the coffee was prepared fresh(and it was tasty) and the staff was really friendly. More of a cafeteria vibe, but fast and reasonably priced. We tried a muffin, which was good, though I could have really gone for a breakfast sandwich… If you want a quick coffee in the area, definitely the spot to go!

The Lord please praise Peets! (read this 5x super fast) Watch your mouth, Sebastian. Be quiet, humble, and line up for your coffee. Sunday, 9.50am. Grace Cathedral, Nob Hill. The church goers guide the Thirsty Coffee Enthusiast, who occasionally dresses as a priest for Halloween, to the basement of the church. I’m passing two ladies sitting in a corner, studying the bible. I’m preparing myself mentally to confess my latest sins and praise the Lord, but the girl at the coffee counter couldn’t be bothered. Fine. One large house coffee, please. Sitting on a wooden bench and sipping on my Peets coffee I’m thinking that this little hidden-in-the-Cathedrals-basement coffee shop is a heavenly gift. And maybe I should reconsider my costume choice for Halloween this year. It’s about time. Amen.

A secret little gem, especially for folks staying at The Huntington Hotel across the street which does not offer the typically standard in room coffee. Rather than order pricey room service we were able to walk right across the street, take in the amazing beauty of the cathedral and get excellent coffee to go. Service was friendly and helpful, too.

what gave me an utterly positive impression on Peets coffee was this venue, which only serves the best! Sumatra and Major Dickenson’s

When I lived nearby here I would stop in this little basement coffee shop for my morning caffeine and sometimes go back for an afternoon fix too. If it’s a rare sunny day in Nob Hill you can get your coffee and head outside and up the steps to the courtyard and enjoy it. The courtyard area also has excellent wind protection which is a must up there on the hill. I don’t know what it is about that spot but an unusual amount of interesting experiences have happened to me while there too. I’m not talking about the religious kind necessarily but I’ve had a number of interesting interactions with other humans there. Strange meetings, bizarre conversations, and an erotic experience one night in the stairwell with my date while enveloped in a velvety Nob Hill fog.

cute and convenient, makes me want to go to church more. well not really, but when i do visit grace, i’ll descend for a cup of joe even though most of the time i get coffee here, it’s not that great, but sometimes you just need coffee!

I don’t tend to go into Grace Cathedral proper after that embarrassing head spinning incident, but this little sanctuary of caffeine next to the gift shop is heaven-sent. Never anyone here early in the morning even on a Sunday. Bright and cheery, and almost monastic in its austerity. Drinks selection is perhaps limited compared to a regular Peet’s(though I only drink espresso so I can’t say for sure). Not sure if you are allowed to take your Latte into church, though I am sure it would taste better that that wine.
