Somehow after eating Good Luck Dim Sum siu mai for many years, I have come to prefer the siu mai from this place. It was a nice change for my taste buds.

I come here for their dimsum, their noodle roll… is so soft and delicious. Since I live in the peninsula, every chance I get, I would come here and get that roll. Although it has dried shrimp, but it has green onions and that dehydrated daikon which makes the roll crunchy. They hand pull their noodles that’s why it’s so soft. Their prices aren’t bad, especially their needle noodles… it’s 2.00 for a small and 3.00 for a large… one dollar more for a large… and it’s pretty big. Lunch can be for 2… think about it, $ 1.50 per person! It isn’t oily at all!!! They do have stuff like fun gor, siew mai, ha gow, and pork buns, lo bak go, etc. There’s a seating area for people who wants to eat inside. There’s coffee and a restroom. I would recommend this place for people who want a quick fix of dim sum… yum!

A solid place to pick up dim sum as well as various foods by the pound, my mom loves to buy their chow mein, which you can then take home and add whatever you want to it like meats or vegetables, and it reheats perfectly for future meals. The pricing is really fair and reasonable here. The service is with a smile and very gracious. The only thing I’d say is watch out for some of the patrons, mainly the old Chinese ladies as they’ll bum rush the stage wanting to get to the front of the counter to place their order without much concern for process, procedure and etiquette, cutting in front, using their sharp boney elbows and ending up in front of you. Parking in the area can be tough since this is located at the heart of Richmond District’s Clement Street shopping area.

My ultimate dim sum place on Clement. This place has food for cheap and theyir items are delicious. This would have to be my go to place for pork siu mai and their rice noodles. Chow mein here is always the best place for it where the PACK your entire box to the brim. This place has everything from dim sum to noodle soups to porridge and baos. However, if you are in a rush sometimes it does get extremely packed and typically it is only one lady packing everyones orders and she is fast, nice and friendly but only one lady can do so much.

4 stars for the food, 5 stars for bang for yer buck Awesome, this place is a little shop right by 7th and Clement. I’ve walked by it a couple of times now in favour for Good Luck dim sum which happens to be just a street down, but honestly this place is just as solid as Good Luck dim sum, with a little less variety. If you are looking for the go-to dimsum selection(siu mai, crystal(filling) dumplings, BBQ(pork|chicken) buns) then this place won’t let you down. It doesn’t have much seating space so don’t go in expecting a seat. The bottom line is that this place serves damn good dim sum, and comes short just about every where else. If you are looking for no frills dim sum then this place is a solid option.

The asian lady at the counter, her name is pronounced«Kaan» or «Keen» depending on what dialect of chinese that you speak. Super helpful. Probably because I had someone to help me interpret & converse. We ordered over $ 100 of dim sum, and called ahead to order. Usual selections purchased include: har gow, beef siu mai, steamed pork buns, steamed chicken buns, & taro root dumplings. For 3 pieces, it’s only $ 1.80. Extremely reasonable pricing. Highly recommended. Make sure you bring someone who speaks Cantonese to conquer the language barrier.

Rude service! They didn’t have enough food&dim sum for customers! The poor experience cause us very angry! And their food are all heated by microwave, but their microwave is out of control, they ask us eat cold food!!! Beside, the restaurant is super dirty, I saw a big mouse when I ate!!! I think that the experience is the worst !!! 態度不好、食物都用微波的 收了錢後就說微波爐故障,強迫我們吃冷的食物,是個非常差的經驗!(餐廳內還有大老鼠)

This was my third stop on my Richmond dim sum search. *Note* I am basing all of my dim sum reviews on the following three items(as they are my favorites): Baked bbq pork bun, Har gao and Siu Mai. Bao — They were sold out of this. I’ll have to try this some other time. Har gao — This was the best har gao I’ve had so far in SF. The damn thing was so moist it was practically falling apart. The outside was thin but still tasty. The inside had not only lots of shrimp, but also included something that gave it great flavor. I think it may have been ginger? or egg? I don’t know but it was delicious. Siu mai — I really liked their siu mai as well. While it didn’t blow me away as much as the har gao did, it was also really flavorful and moist. It was also a little fatty on the inside, which I enjoyed. - I’m not sure why, but there was no plasticware or napkins provided, nor were there any in the shop. So this one had to be eaten by hand, which I am perfectly ok with. This was definitely the best find on today’s dim sum search on clement street. I would come back here again.

Yummmm. I love dim sum. Prices here are pretty reasonable, and dim sum — well how can you really go wrong with dim sum? Don’t answer that — I don’t want to know. They’re fast and the selection is pretty large. Oh, and their chow mein is really good here — the small container is hefty! Not my favorite dim sum place ever, but when I’m in the area & craving dim sum, I definitely don’t mind stopping by for a bite. Or two. Or you know. A food coma.

Tasty food and great service. It is not fancy but it tastes authentic and the prices are more than fair. Great for lunch or a quick bite when you are in a hurry. I will be going back soon!

Who doesn’t love cheap giant dim sum To Go? I got the Shrimp leek dumpling, Har Gow, Siu Mai, Pork and Century Egg Porridge, and Lo Bak Go. Just reheat the stuff when you take it home. Overall, they have the key staples for Dim Sum and you won’t break the bank like you would normally at a restaurant. Cash only!

Cheap __good quality dim sum! I’m used to spending about $ 15 a person for good sit-down dim sum where old Chinese ladies wheel around a cart and try to upsell you like you’re buying a SUV without leather seats and a sound system. But on Clement and the Inner Richmond in SF, this is one of the multiple dim sum spots that has a good selection of quality dim sum for dirt cheap(think $ 1.20 per order). I get the usual mix of dumplings, shrimp and rice flour specials, etc. The food is a bit cold though, so take it home, enjoy in your PJ’s and microwave it first.

Super hit or miss. Delicious or whatever the name is across the street was closed. There was a decent-sized queue of local Canto folk lined up here, but I soon learned. very very hit or miss. More than likely, what you’re gonna want you will have to take a seat and wait for it to be steamed or cooked up. Not much offering around 11AM yesterday. things like steamed pork buns, or siu mai were not available. Out. Not liking the wait time in line to the actual availability of dim sum items. Pass, thanks. Must add, in closing, that their sesame balls were very well done and fluffy, crispy ratio well done. The hot dog bun I got to eat at work was the hugest thing i have ever seen. A giant bread that was tasty enveloping some kind of cheap weiner. Choice of words there… for comic effect =0

One of my Clement go-to’s. They’re fast and the dim sum is decent enough. They don’t have a huge variety, but what do you expect? This isn’t a sit down restaurant. They mostly have dumplings, but they also have a couple of baos 3 dumplings for $ 1.50, CHEAP. On my last visit, I picked up 6 har gow(not for me since I’m allergic to shrimp) 3 siu mai 1 lo mai gai 1 preserved egg pork porridge ALLFOR $ 7! i was full, but did have minor MSG after effects :[ Sometimes, you cannot have your cake and eat it too. Still it’s fast, cheap, decent.

Back in the day when I was growing up, there used to be a King Norman’s here… But now, on xmas morning, they are a life saver as far as getting any Deep Fried Meat Dumplings(hom sui gok) are concerned . Good luck finding any at Good Luck, and there were none to be had at Clement on Clement. So next one up is Gourmet Dim Sum and Café. Oh we’re in luck, the Asian horde hasn’t gotten to them all… We completed our quest of buying dim sum to bring over to my bro-in-laws house on xmas morning and this was our last stop and savior…

While doing some early morning wandering around the Richmond Chinese neighborhood, I was on a particular mood to try a hole-in-the-wall shop serving dim sum and breakfast foods from the counter, with a certain type of clientele(older folks settled in with newspapers). I suppose I could have researched this ahead of time, but I went with the random-looking-in method and deciding on vibe. So I ended up at the deceptively(but oh-so Chinese) named Gourmet Dim Sum and Café. As desired, its a tiny place with just two rows of 2-seat tables and a counter selling the goods, above which hung the plain, large menu in Chinese and English. Being illiterate in Chinese, I went with just asking for shrimp rice rolls and siu mai, which were promptly microwaved for me. The unusual part of this experience were the rice rolls, which had a bizarrely spongy consistency. The shrimps were tiny and a bit fishy tasting. The siu mai were nothing special, nothing unusual, solidly mediocre. Glad I only tried this much and beat a hasty retreat, this café’s appeal lost on me.

I was in the Bay area visiting family and this was the last stop with my Bay area family. We had eaten less than four hours ago, but like I stated in a previous review, nothing brings a good time like gathering together with lots of good eats. Because we were not that hungry, I thought we could Food Truck it and try different tastes with the family. Via Twitter, we could not find a Food Truck close to our location… BUMMER…so we decided to eat here at the Gourmet Dim Sum and Café. It was around 2:00PM on Sunday when we found this place and we probably missed the lunch crowd after church services. That was good… we had the restaurant to ourselves. The restaurant ran out of some of out favorite dim sum items, but they prepared some for us quickly… that’s good! Excuse my spelling… I just eat Dim Sum. We ordered lots of shumai, shrimp and chive dumplings, meat pie bau, and sesame balls.(see my iPhone pictures) Honestly, this was filler food. With soy sauce and rooster sauce saved some of the tastes of the food. The good was that this place was extremely inexpensive and the person behind the counter made us more food. But with all the good, the lack of taste can only get a Two and a Half Unilocal Star rating from me… round up to Three Unilocal Stars for ya! =)

I was on a weekend getaway with my girlfriends to San Francisco! I haven’t been in a few years so I was pretty excited. My mission: GETSOMEGOODDIMSUM! Turns out my mission was a fail. The good: It’s in San Francisco? And that’s such a great city. The dim sum, most everything was just $ 1.50 I got so much food to fill my tummy and then some for just over $ 6! They had a few tables to sit and eat at the restaurant. The bad: The food was not so good, I’ve had better in LA. I thought to myself, if I get the runs on this trip I’m blaming you Gourmet Dim Sum and Café! Some of items that ordered they warmed up in the microwave and served it to me. No bueno. The tables were dirty, we had to clean them off ourselves and when my friend asked a question about the table the lady was really rude and said something to her in Chinese. My friend is Japanese so we had a little communication trouble. I will not be returning here. I think I can do much better while I’m in SF.

My excursion to the Clement corridor continues with a visit to Gourmet Dim Sum and Café. This is another fast food dim sum place that has a small seating area to the side. Lighting and layout are not the best but it does have three huge multi-deck steamers where all the goodies are nicely tucked underneath. The long listing of dim sum items are posted behind the counter and most can be had at $ 1.50 for three. I swooped in and got the following items for a huge $ 4.50 feast. It was enough to get me full but I always make room for dessert. Shrimp dumplings – Fresh, juicy and plump with good texture and taste. Scallop dumplings – Better than the ones at Good Luck Dim Sum. Chive dumplings – Very good with ground pork and plenty of chives. Sweet rice buns – Sticky rice is one of my favorites at all dim sum places – a must get. Turnip cake – It was reheated with microwave but still decent. I felt my meal was somehow incomplete when I found out that they had already ran out of taro dumplings. I also wish that they could turn up the steamer so food could be served at a higher temperature. Service was straight forward and accessible. All in all, this place is pretty good and a nice alternative when Good Luck gets too crowded. I’m celebrating another decent find with hip-hop artist Jin’s Cantonese Youtube video about dim sum. Please pardon the problematic images but this might still be a helpful tool for those who have been asking me for a crash intro to dim sum 101. 3.5 stars for above average Chinese fast food.
