Honest people! My faith in humanity has been restored! My daughter lost her phone, dropped it on the street. A customer brought it to Eileen(?) at the bakery. She called and emailed me to tell me they have it.(I was texting my daughter’s phone with my email and cell) They posted a sign to say that they found a phone. We were visiting from Orange County that weekend when my daughter lost her phone. We’re thankful for honest people like you!

Are you Fing kidding me!!! I been your customer for 15 years and you sell me stale old sponge cake. There are 2 Asian ladies working there. Do NOT buy it from the one with short shoulder length hair. Rude B! Don’t bother calling cause they slam your calls and would not take the cake back. Don’t get me started with bugs flying everywhere. I will report you to city health!

They have by far the best pineapple covered buns in town. Their egg tarts are legit too!

Read bean and coconut buns are the bomb. Super cheap and usually full of regulars. Totally a neighborhood spot.

Shrimp wonton noodle soup was comfort food. Tasty wontons that swam in an almost clear broth that wasn’t teeming with MSG and with noodles cooked just right without an overpowering ‘baking powder’ pungency. Oh and try their soft and light sponge cake snug wrapped in paper! It’s got a tinge of a citrus fragrance. I should have bought more than two home! Now I’ll just have to make many more return trips.

I love coming here sometimes for breakfast in the morning because we are always in a rush! I like trying something new here getting the different bao. I would recommend coming here if you never had it before!

A real-deal neighborhood joint — I imagine my grandparents would hang out with their friends here if they lived in the neighborhood. Love that it’s down to earth. I’ve only had a few baked goods, and they were okay. Neither extraordinary, nor lacking anything in particular. Will perhaps need to try many more before generating an opinion as strong as some other reviewers here(it’s not obvious that this place serves anything other than baked goods, but apparently more legitimate meals are a possibility)!

Golden chariot, you my friend are both a gift and a curse. I had gotten a hospital procedure done just before I had arrived and had not eaten since the day before. You came to the rescue and satisfied my hunger! Shortly before that, we got into a fender bender right in front while we were parking which resulted to a delay :(yep, it was a hangry moment, indeed. Your pork bao and red bean pastry made up for it though! So fresh, warm, and delectable ! I really wasn’t expecting anything from this place because it wasn’t on my bookmarks however, it’ll be one of my go to spots whenever I’m in the city from now on. If you’re anything like me, indecisive then here’s a tip: just because you order enough to eat there, I suggest you don’t wait and order more for the road that very moment because they sell out fast! I blinked my eyes and the pastries I wanted to take for the road were completely sold out :(their egg custard was yummy too but that was my first time having it so I really have nothing to compare it to. If you know any good egg custard places though, let me know :)

Old school Cantonese style pastries in a neighborhood spot. They also have a small variety of Chinese dishes available. Drop by if you are in the neighborhood.

The only thing I had was a curry beef bun and milk tea. The milk tea is not the authentic HK style milk tea. They used Tea bags to make them. It actually taste ok. But if you are looking for the HK milk tea then you will be disappointed. The bun was very soft, it’s probably just got out of the oven. Don’t know how long the freshness and the softness last but it was done very well. Since I only tried one bun I can’t give them 4 stars yet but I’m tempted to.

Great place to grab egg tarts(dan tats) by my house. The roommate was making a run for pickup nearby so I asked him to grab me a dan tat. Not sure how much they are if you buy them in threes, but they were $ 0.90 for one. The custard was firm, but still had a nice silky softness to it. And a great creaminess as well. The shell was nice and flaky too. I’ve never tried anything else here, but probably will the next time I’m in the area and craving Chinese food. If everything else is as good as their egg tarts, I won’t be disappointed!

Service = friendly. Just be patient about the lai cha. Prices = cheap. Plenty of open seating. They do have Wi-Fi! I miss living in this neighborhood… Sometimes. Until I remember the parking situation.

VEGETARIANS beware: My co-worker brings the baked goods in to meetings. So SAD because the shortening used in ALL the baked goods, including the ever popular egg tarts, is LARD. :-(

Best bolo bao in SF! Must try! Officially my favorite from Oakland and SF. Did not try anything else. The pineapple bun with the bbq pork was delish, so was the pineapple bun filled with taro paste. I can’t wait to go back. Great prices and friendly service that speaks/understands English. Super score!

Small chinese bakery in Richmond The place is primary a bakery, a mom-and-pop store that serves a relatively small variety of pastries that all seem to be made personally by the store owners everyday. There is a small menu of chinese food items as well – these include the usual noodle soup, fried rice etc. – they tend to run out pretty early, and are usually made on-the-spot the moment you order. The overall food quality is pretty much expected – the kind of food you’d expect if you go to an aunt’s house and they make you some noodles from the kitchen. Overall, a decent family-owned bakery that also happens to serve chinese food dishes.

You don’t find 5 bucks for MBOR, Mongolian Beef Over Rice. So as $ 4.75 for beef chowmein. Both pretty big enough to screw up my after noon schedule every time when I had for lunch. I can’t go back to work. That’ll get me in a massive coma, instantly, for at least 2 to 3 hours, that’s guaranteed! I always have a same dream, chowmein girls, flying over my head, they are like small angels with wings holding a bowl of chowmein with chopsticks, trying to feed me. Strange dream by the way. I am pretty sure the place don’t care for msg. I think that this place is «msg is must» kind of place. So, if you are a person who can’t take msg, I don’t recommend. And a dollar fifty cream bun. The cream bun is always my favorite but it’ll gone pretty fast. You must come the GCBR. «GCBR» sounds like a gay community thing but it isn’t. Its Golden Chariot Bakery & Restaurant! I love coming here especially school off time, spring break, there are no messy high school kids around. But, I don’t mind coming here for even school day because I like to get the $ 2.50 small lunch boxes are a great deal. Mail man, Police officer and construction workers are getting the lunch box among w/the high school kids. There are something I have never done at GCBR. 1. they have coffee. I have never had the coffee and I won’t do that. 2. its a restaurant, but my order has been always take-out. 3. so, I have never use their bath room before. I see a sign says fee wifi, but I never seen lap top people here.

*5 star dive chinese restaurant Calling all eagles alumni… and anyone else. I was wrestling eagle in 2003. the good old days when, i was living off a 25 dollar allowance, working a min wage job that paid way too little and had way too little hours. The broke weeks i had when i lost all my allowance($ 20) and my puny two digit paychecks from cheap min wage child labor wages to blackjack and walls for dollars, i could only afford golden chariot by default, unlike the weeks when the vietnamese gambling gods paid for such luxury meals as @americana or if u were super balling. U took your honeys for some sushi to the oh so fancy @balboateriaki! Dam I’m old… GOLDENCHARIOT2013 is even better then when I went to ghws. The food tastes and looks better than I remember. So good that I walked a few blocks from my birds nest to get there right before high school lunch time. 11am. *i cant believe im actually choosing to eat golden chariot then @shanghaidumplings, which dont get me wrong is a 5 star Unilocal dive chinese restaurant All the food I used to order was def an upgrade since 2003 Pineapple custard bun Wow these really good I would say just as good as Hong Kong lounge. Pineapple taro bun Nom nom nom they never had this back then spoiled kids these days with their good food, icrap, and epic edm Chicken and sweet corn over rice Drooolsssssss. So creamy and sweet. Way better then I remember before it used look like someone threw up after eating steam chicken corn and… white gooey stuff… now it actually looks presentable at a decent resturant. The chicken pieces are Alot bigger and u can tell or at least trick ur self into thinking it’s more healthy than before Ps I came back and had the chicken corn soup. Hella Hella Hella bomb! make sure you at least try this place one time if your in the neighborhood for the past memories at ghws Eagle pride! yadddaaabooobooo~!

This place kept me alive during my high school years. 2 dinner rolls please! Yup, that’s all I had for lunch for 4 years. As an adult, I still like to come here for the buns. Don’t worry guys, I’m eating a lot more for lunch now but still no buns on this lady =( Great service. I do see a few flies here and there but as long as they continue to pop out soft buns, it’s all good. DON’T come during 11:45−12:20(Washington High School’s lunch hours) The whole strip is swarmed with kids.

Do not overlook this bakery. This place is good for baked goods on the run. But if you have time, you should try their dishes too. They are surprisingly tasty! My family decided to have lunch here one day. We don’t usually eat at Hong Kong style bakery cafes, but my mommy said the egg tarts are good here! Spicy Pork Ramen( ): My least favorite. I wanted to be adventurous, but it didn’t work out for me. The pork was good, but the ramen was slightly undercooked and bland. Pork Chop with Rice( ): Oooh the pork chops were soo good! It seemed like they were lightly deep fried then covered in a light glaze. The meat was perfect, not too fatty, not too lean. Baked Spaghetti Bolognese( ): Probably the best spaghetti Bolognese ever! They didn’t skimp on the ingredients. Tons of meat sauce, tons of cheese! So hearty and filling. Mmmm! Egg tarts( ): On the house! Even though the egg tarts were not warm anymore, they were still really good! The crust was flaky. The egg was silky with just the right amount of sweetness. I can only imagine how much more delicious they are when served warm!
