The concept is great, but if you are going to serve crap products at premium prices, well you will get the crowd you get. The location is confusing, took me a minute to figure out the signage. If you are a local, I doubt you can stomach this place, though I doubt they were going for that crowd anyway. The coffee is bad, like offensively bad. The iced coffee is unforgivably bitter and very sour. I had to drown it in cream and sugar and it still left a bad taste in my mouth. That just isn’t acceptable at the level of craftsmanship you can find just half a block away. Then the toast. I paid $ 6 for avocado toast. One tiny slice of bread, with half an avocado on it, and salt from a packet. -.- The service is nice, they have good sweets, but I don’t know who would go here regularly over the red door just down the block? I really wish I were bold enough to ask for my money back. The coffee is that offensive. Maybe stick with the chai and a bagel?

Cool space with a lot of room, the coffee was excellent. The staff was friendly. This spot is nearby my office which was good. The pricing is about the same anywhere for a good coffee place in Soma. Would come back!

Pretty particular with how I like my coffee. I usually get an almond milk latte. This place makes the BEST lattes. The coffee isn’t burnt like most places. I refuse to go to any other place for my coffee. We get free coffee upstairs in our office, but I don’t really like it, so I just order at this coffee shop which is directly downstairs. AND The baristas are the sweetest & super friendly! Props to whoever hired you guys! Props to who hired you guys! [:

Having seen their little sign right by my chiropractor, I stopped into G’Café for what I assumed to be a quick cup of coffee. The barista behind the counter had a hard time articulating what the pour over options were that day, which should have been a sign by itself. Sightglass is served up here, and while my coffee ultimately wasn’t terrible, it took FOREVER(and I know pour overs take awhile) to get my coffee. My husband went with the iced coffee, which seemed to be the better(and faster) option. All in all, it’s a cool space if you’re looking for a place to hang out and work, but otherwise, I’ll probably stick with going to Red Door Café around the corner.

Let me start by saying that the atmosphere is nice. Tucked away down an alley, walk in to find this cavernous, yet warm and appealing hideaway with coffee and pastries. Although, to my surprise after ordering a pour over coffee that cost $ 4.89 for a small cup– it wasn’t even filled to the top. In fact about two inches from the top. I essentially paid $ 6.00($ 1 tip) for what equals in volume to ½ of a can of soda. That’s 6 ounces! I got burned bad.

At first I didn’t go into Galvanize because I thought this was the lounge of a private company. But then I saw their sign on 2nd Street saying that they were actually open to the public. So I took Tehama St detour and walked down the alley to Galvanize to try their coffee. Espresso and coffee prices are about on par with places like Red Door and Peet’s just a few steps away from them. However, their drink choices are only for espresso and coffee. There’s no chai or tea stuff based on what I saw. What differentiates Galvanize from other places is the space available for working quietly or having a meeting in their spacious chairs, couches, and stools. Considering that this location is a bit tucked away, there isn’t likely a lot of traffic that one usually finds in a more visible coffee shop. They do close early around 4pm so make sure to go earlier in the day.

A new coffee shop that serves coffee and espresso from Sightglass. This is a great spot for a meeting due to the free WiFi provided by the Galvanize community. A bright and open space with counters and tables, they have a friendly staff nice atmosphere. I had a perfectly made pour-over and my friend had a redeye(coffee with espresso). Both were delicious. Highly recommended!
