These folks have hands-down the best fruit in the farmers market — check their stand right outside the store itself. Inside the store, you can also pickup a smaller variety of fruits as well as kick ass pastries. The small tarts and turnovers are the best — the cherry ones are just incredible. Don’t forget their jams. If you like huge fruit chunks in your preserves, the apricot one cannot be beat. I’m totally addicted to jam/preserves and I’ve tasted the fanciest stuff from France all the way down to winners of national taste tests(smuckers) and everything in between(local, organic, imported). Nothing beats Frog Hollow apricot preserves.

I cannot stop thinking about the apple empanada I had from Frog Hollow this past Saturday morning. It was probably the most perfect, flaky, delicious empanada I have ever eaten. Frog Hollow was also offering other great-looking pastries and I was super tempted to purchase a jar of jam or chutney, but I blame the Ferry Building for sensory overload — all I had the attention span to buy was my heavenly empanada, but I’m glad I did. I can’t wait to have the chance to go back and explore more!

Avocado toast– so fresh, with perfectly toasted crunchy and thick bread. $ 6.99 for one piece, highly recommended and served everyday Their pastries also look great, will have to come back!

Avocado toast here is amazing. It is a bit on the expensive side for what it is, and isn’t something that I would get every day for breakfast, but it’s worth splurging on once in a while given that it’s rated #1 avocado toast in the city by many bloggers and food critics. If you come here on a Saturday morning, there’s a farmers market too, so get ready to stand in line for your toast. It’s well worth the wait.

Let me be honest about this place, delicious food, but OVERPRICED ;___________; I ordered the pear toast, avocado toast and prosciutto sandwich and although eating the food was an absolute experience, your wallet will feel really sad. The pear and avocado sandwiches were ~$ 11 each and holy f**k, I don’t care how expensive SF’s standard of living is but charging $ 10+ for toast is absolutely ridiculous! On the other hand, the toasts were actually quite damn delicious. The avocado toast has just the perfect amount of olive oil and salt and each bite is just savory as hell. The pear toast was also a favorite of mine and it just makes my mouth water when I think of that toast. I would recommend trying the avocado and pear toast for those who would like to «treat yo self». The prosciutto sandwich is NOT freshly made, but instead comes already wrapped and slapped on with a golden Frog Hollow sticker. If I am ever in the area again or willing to drop $$ at this place, I would skip the sandwich and go straight to the toast. Bottom line is that the food here is excellent, but for me, price and the quality of the food matters most for me and the price is just not an affordable range for me.

Frog Hollow is a cute little market/café at the Ferry Building. Browse all the delicious looking treats, pay at the register and indulge! I decided to try both the peach crisp and also the avocado toast. I thought that the peach crisp, while tasty, was just an above average pastry. The avocado toast, however, was life itself. I’ll admit, I’m not a huge avocado toast connoisseur. I’m from the East Coast and it is not as popular out here and I also have an occasional avocado allergy which I typically try to ignore. This toast was perfectly crisp with a spread of beautifully ripe avocado generously spread on top. The toast was spread with what I think was a garlic butter/oil. The avocado was also drizzled lightly with some quality olive oil and topped with some salt and pepper. It was so very delicious! I think because the avocado was so ripe and in so much abundance, I immediately started to get an allergic reaction, but I powered through and ate the whole thing. Because sacrifices must be made. Come to Frog Hollow and eat some avocado toast for lunch. You won’t regret it.

The avocado toast is incredible. Mine was accompanied by a delicious, fresh, delicate yet flavorful salad with plums. Exquisite!

I came all the way to the Ferry Building, battled the crowds from the Pride Parade and Giants game, just to try the avocado toast, as I saw it on Unilocal awhile back. I absolutely loved it!!! The avocado toast is an open faced sandwich on Acme green onion slab bread with perfectly ripe avocado, olive oil, pepper, and hints of garlic. The bread is toasted and warm, making the sandwich super scrumptious. Right when I was handed my box, I already thought the toast looked like perfection. Upon first bite, it tasted exactly as it looked… perfect! The avocado toast is $ 6.99 for a half order and $ 10.99 for a full order. Go for the full! I loved the entire café. I thought it was going to be a restaurant, but it’s more like a small casual café/bakery where you order at the register and pick up your food. There isn’t much seating inside, but I love that they have outdoor seating where you can sit by the waterfront, enjoy the sunshine, and see the bay bridge. They were out of several menu items today such as the grilled cheese sandwich and side salad, which I wanted to try. I definitely am coming back for more avocado toast. I also really want to try their apricot scruffin! If you are at the Ferry Building, make sure to stop by Frog Hollow for their world famous avocado toast!

Shopping the Farmer’s Market, we decided it was time to stop for some lunch. Our friend recommended the avocado toast at Frog Hollow Farm & Café located in the Ferry Building. We placed our order for a full order of toast. What can I say? First, it is so nicely prepared. Second, it is so tasty. Slices of creamy avocado drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with ground pepper and sea salt over a toasted, crispy, garlicky slice of French bread. I would say each slice of toast consists of half a large avocado. Never had avocado as the star of sandwich/toast, but Frog Hollow does a great job in making it the star.

You know what? As many accolades as this place gets, I guess it just didn’t blow me away as much as I had hoped. It’s not because the place lacks quality. It isn’t because the place has mediocre food and pastry options. It’s not because the place doesn’t have fresh food. It’s mainly because the place doesn’t have much value and mixed with something else in between, just brings it to the category in which I may or may not decide to go again kind of rating. I guess I’ll try to explain. So nothing sounds better than a place that has fresh food, hot coffee and delicious pastries for those cold, foggy and usually windy morning in San Fran. Going in with this, I figured I’d give this place a try since I’m not a fan of oysters but it would still give me a chance to check out the pier. plus it has to be more reasonable than the hotel’s breakfast options right? Well, maybe. Frog Hollow is clean, they have several pastries, empanadas, other food items, even some marmalades and fruit spreads available for purchase. Being a visitor, I decided to go with the frog-famous avocado toast(because if everybody and their mother loves it, it must be good, right?), a cookie and a coffee. Here’s the thing… the food was good(especially the cookie) but it wasn’t a lot and especially not for the money. I know, I know. It’s SF, I get it but I still have a hard time justifying paying nearly $ 17 for a one thinly sliced avocado sprinkled with pepper on top of two pieces of, a cookie and a 12 ounce coffee that when you ask for«barely» any room for cream you end up getting more like 9−10oz. Seriously, I wanted more but the other pastries were like an additional $ 4-$ 6 so I had to draw the line somewhere. Either way, it really wasn’t as filling as I expected it to be. So Frog Hollow is good, try it once, have a pastry, maybe two if you’re feeling spendy. For having great food, pastries and ideal location along the pier, it’s great to experience and check out once. As far as cost to portion size is concerned, for this guy who can eat most people out of their home if invited over for dinner, I wouldn’t be able to afford coming here as regularly as I’d like to. Still, that apricot-something or other filled peanut butter cookie was outstanding nonetheless.

How in holy heck did I not know about this place?! If it wasn’t right across from Boulettes Larder I would have never known this little café existed here in this building. That would have been a shame though as I had THE best avocado toast I’ve ever put in my mouth to date and I’ve been eating avocado toast for years. The weekend offerings are extremely limited so don’t come by expecting a full menu. In addition to the pastries behind the counter and their prepackaged cookies/biscuits and in season produce, they served the said toast, a soup, an empanada, a cheese/sausage pizza and a granola cup. I believe that was it. I was hoping to get a toast and a side salad of some sort but they don’t offer a side salad on the weekends. Instead, I had the granola cup(milk, apricots, granola and some honey), an avocado toast and a cappuccino. The coffee was, to my surprise very good! Going forward this will be my go-to for a quick lunch whenever I’m at the Ferry Building. Next time I’m getting a full for myself. I split the full yesterday with my husband and immediately regretted it as soon as the last bite was taken.
