A home run for decades. When it first opened, flocks of folks were there. It was the place to be seen scene. Morphed into a Special Occasion place — unique, great food, fun wait staff…

Can’t believe this place is even considered a Diner — seriously one of the classiest diners I have seen! But then again, it is San Francisco, so I guess its excused to call it a diner. I always go to fog city for a quick lunch or some appetizers and I am always happy with the service and food! Must Get: Hand Cut Furikake Fries — Seriously a bukakke of yum in your mouth. Did I saw bukkake, oops. It’s just really good. Deviled Eggs — Quinoa on Deviled Eggs. I am a huge healthy eating freak, so anything to make eating deviled eggs healthier — ISFINEWITHME. Very luscious and made to perfection! Strawberry Shortcake — Holy Sheet someone save me the next time I devour a whole dessert and guzzle it down with a beer — the short bread is very lemonny and the sauce is on the sweeter side, but still good. Fog City is always good for a little snack or an actual meal. I would highly suggest going during their happy hour — it’s a great crowd and not too packed like other places!

Not the best place to go The food is on the small portion side Service slow Parking is ok late afternoon And last is what made so mad I ask for Bread they do not give it when you set and order After asking The manager they said we can have it and it $ 4 I was ok with that The sad side is that the bread gut to my table at the time of the desert. And yes they still charge me

Clean and classy décor. Their Fog City Burger was meaty and solid, but $ 17 was on the overly pricey side. Will be a long while before another visit.

Ever since I was a kid growing up in the city, visiting the Embarcadero when it wasn’t as cool as it is now(80’s…nuff said), I have always wanted to eat at Fog City Diner. Back then, it looked like an old-school greasy spoon diner. Anyway, I finally decided to have a meal here and realized it’s been revamped and remodeled… for the better. I decided to be an adultier adult and order a Manhattan for my drink, my wife a beer. We then ordered the calamari appetizer(mistakenly thinking it was fried… hehe, hehe) and realizing it wasn’t-pan cooked? but it was still good. For our meal, we had a shareable rib-eye, which was their special for the night and the macaroni and cheese as a side. SOGOOD. For dessert, I had these french donuts with a dark chocolate sauce poured over them and my wife had the vanilla custard with chocolate sauce. Both equally good and paired well with coffee. This place definitely did not disappoint.

Very belated review from 2016SF Restaurant week visit! Eats: 1. hamachi crudo — so yummy, fresh, excellent touch with the black sesame seeds(I think) and citrus topping 2. Pork chop — humongous portion! If you’re hungry, eat this. 3. Salmon — nice and crispy skin, great flavor. 4. Dessert — donut cruller: so amazing! I dream about this at times! Would definitely go back. It’s well worth it to visit this place for SF Restaurant week.

Great 1st experience at Fog City Restaurant on the Embarcadero! Its located directly adjacent to Pier 27(the cruise terminal). Fog City is American cuisine and is extremely good! There are 2 entrances, the bar and restaurant side. The bar side gives you the perfect view of the cruise terminal. The wait staff was friendly, the décor is modern and the food is DELICIOUS! The calm chowder is a must try!

Great interior design. Nice wine selection. Food and dessert were okay. Fried chicken sandwich was mostly spongy bread hugging a very thin piece of deep fried chicken. Compared to other pictures posted previously it looks like they’re skimping on the chicken.

Fog city diner? More like fog city bar that serves food. I know it’s my fault that I haven’t been here for about nine years. The location hasn’t changed but the décor and food has changed, some people call it progress, I call it a change of times. Gone are the comfortable booths. And dark warm colors to be replaced by modern bright odd shaped tables. To talk about the food, the burger and fries are a hit. The roasted squid, bread and butter was on point. The silver tongued devil cocktail, was decent could have been a better pour. Was finished after a couple of swigs. For the price it was mostly a large ice cube with a cucumber. The fries with seaweed was decent. Also the restaurant is loud. Even on a Friday night

Eh, Fog City was not my choice but I was so sleepy that I really didn’t care where we went. I ordered grilled trout served with English pea purée, uni butter, and a salad of pea tendrils and watermelon radish. I liked that the trout was served skin-on and the price seemed reasonable for fish. It was good but not great. My date had the burger, which looked solid and as far as I could tell, he enjoyed. Would I go again? I would certainly go again if someone suggests it but it would not be one of my personal top choices.

The garlic fries were delicious, but it’s hard to mess up fries. The trout was buttery and flavorful, but the salad that it came with was unpalatable. It was so sour and tasted like it was drenched in lemon juice. It has slices of lemon skin everywhere in it, and was terrible. Good foamy latte and a delicious clam chowder, although it came with shells in the soup so you have to fish them out.

Across from Pier 23 down on Embarcadero in San Fransisco, Fog City sits juxtaposed from the touristy, bustling Wharf area. A good place to escape from the rain, this small, yet accommodating restaurant is a sophisticated, yet laid back place to grab a bite. Our waiter greeted us and offered suggestions, took orders and within 15 minutes our food was delivered to our booth overlooking the bay. Items ordered were kids burger(huge for kids, and said to be amazing), kids grilled cheese in fat, white country bread with a side of fries(also said to be very good), Asian chicken salad(minus the creamy sesame dressing, instead opted for the lemon vinaigrette which was actually equally tasty), and Caesar salad(simple, yet the shaved Parm and dressing was very delicious). Bill minus the tip, $ 86. Would definitely return to Fog City again while visiting the Wharf.

Great spot for a meeting in the financial district /north beach. Fog City is located along the Embarcadero with beautiful greenery surrounding the building. The interior is modern-rustic with both bar seating and tables for larger groups. It is very cozy and the staff their are great! Fog City has a nice cocktail menu if you’re looking to grab drinks during a business meeting. The menu has a selection of sandwiches, salads, and burgers as well as other larger portion items. The prices are standard for the area, averaging 15 – 20 per sandwich/burger. For snack I recommend the kimchi tacos and the grilled brussel sprouts. We were given the brussel sprouts as a treat by the staff. At first we were not so excited, since none of us really like them. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Grilled to perfection and covered in cheese, I loved them!

Ever heard of a clarified milk punch? The technique changes but the idea is consistent. The clarified milk is actually whey. The whey is used as a mixer for the smoothest cocktail you will ever enjoy. You rarely see this outside of artisan-type bars. But here it is. You really could stop reading now. If you like cocktails, even a little bit, go order one. For the rest of you: We’ve driven by this place for years. «Wow, that place is PACKED!» we’d remark to each other. We finally went. Great idea, Yod. The oysters are fresh and yummy. The mignonette was wonderful. The bread appetizer is surprise: bread and butter. But spectacular bread and butter. Deviled eggs are a revelation. You wish the ones you make tasted this good. They don’t. The wagyu steak frites dish was amazing. Chili rubbed spareribs were equally tasty. Then there’s dessert. Get *anything* with the egg yolk caramel. Seriously, anything.

Restaurant week menu: tuna tartar with olive oil and citrus(just ok), a beef short rib(good), and a churro with ice cream and a caramel sauce(good). Also ordered a side of their Brussels sprouts. Lively but not overly crowded on a Monday night. Staff attentive. Overall, a solid but not spectacular experience.
Good food, but pricey. Of course, the place is located down along Pier 27, so it attracts many tourists. We weren’t looking for a full meal and decided to order a couple appetizers to split between us. We ordered the flash fried brussel sprouts, which were lightly tossed with capers and balsamic vinegar, and then topped with shaved lemon ricotta. Great dish! We also ordered the fries, which were tossed in Furik, julienned nori, and bonito flakes, the fries were served with garlic aioli for dipping. Great choice! If we’d had a larger appetite, I’m sure the full meals would be wonderful! We may have to try this place again next time!

Service was so slow that we waited 1 hour to get our meals. Half of us got got the meal nice and hot, other half cold and slightly warm. I got my meal and I could tell it was sitting on counter for awhile. I think they cooked everything but the food service forgot us, was told every time we asked where our food was and they told us, kitchens was overwhelm and they will get us. Though the guy next to me walked in, got drinks and got his dinner in 15 min.

Came here for a family gathering and had a very nice lunch. We made a reservation for 6 people early in the morning and they said they couldn’t accommodate us until later in the afternoon. When we got there it seemed like there was a lot of empty tables so we were confused as to why they couldn’t have seated us earlier. When we did get seated they put us into a rather crammed booth(we had 6 people) so that was the only downside to the meal. Some of the group ordered the Bloody Mary’s that they have with the deviled egg on the top and they looked amazing! So good that we actually ordered some deviled eggs for an appetizer which were incredible as well. I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad which was good but I wish they would’ve mentioned all of the friend stuff that they had on the top. My boyfriend ordered a fish dish a few people ordered the burger. Everyone really enjoyed their food and drinks. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience but next time hope to get a better table, especially if we had made a reservation before hand. Also, parking is not the best around here since it’s so close to the wharf so make sure to come early to get a spot.

Came here with a group and tried a tasty variety of small plates to share! Though the name might say diner, Fog City is anything but. The menu is a bit more upscale than it lets on without crossing into the classy threshold. We ordered the oysters, eggplant baba ganoush, broccoli, Fog City burger with fries(which we devoured as sliders), mac and cheese, ahi tuna tartare, caponata & burrata and calamari. Whew! I’d be hard pressed to ding any of these dishes, so take your pick! The drink menu looked unique, though I wasn’t drinking that day haha so the non-alcoholic drinks are fun too! Tried the spaceman and it was a sparking mix of sweet and lemon.

Fog City has been on my To Try list for SO long now and while it isn’t a super bougie or fancy place, the Frozen Custard that’s been on the 7×7 Big Eat List has been something that’s had me finding any reason to make my way there. I finally got the chance to stop in here recently with some friends for a Friday night dinner and was surprised how un-diner like this place is. The three of us were mostly focused on catching up with each other and planned on going about the menu with the idea of sharing everything. Unilocal was incredibly helpful in getting us onto the right path for food, and it didn’t steer us wrong! Here’s what went down for the evening: Appetizers: Brussels sprouts: These were good, although a little too salty and not crispy enough for my liking. The add of balsamic was good, but I’m not sure I’d order these again. Deviled eggs: These come on a plate of four, and I had two… because why should you split a deviled egg that’s delicious? I enjoyed the grain mustard and the crispy quinoa that was sprinkled on top. I would definitely get these again! Mains/Sides: Jerk half spiced chicken: This was my favorite main item for the evening. A half chicken sounds like a lot, but actually this was a fairly reasonably sized portion that could be eaten by one really hungry person. The arugala salad that comes with it is a good side to eat it with since it can get a little heavy with just the chicken. Fog City Burger & Fries: Our server was a total peach and had the kitchen cut up the burger into fours since he knew we were going to be sharing. I liked the burger, although I don’t know if it’s anything different or special from other burgers in the city. The fries. I would order the burger just so that I can eat the fries. Broccoli di Cicco: We weren’t sure if what we were ordering was going to be enough so we threw in the side of broccoli as means to round everything out. It totally wasn’t necessary since we had so much food already, but the broccoli was a good side to have nonetheless. There was a little too much oil on the broccoli, but would be great if you were having something like the pork. Furikake Fries: When I saw furikake, I was a little concerned that it’d be the traditional furikake I grew up with. Some people love it, some people hate it. I personally don’t really like it, but when I saw that the fries were more«dusted» in a light savory seasoning that wasn’t anything like the traditional version, I was relieved. And the fries are absolutely irresistible. I couldn’t stop eating them. There were the burger fries and then these, and between the two, I would say that the Furikake Fries are the way to go if you’re sharing with a group of people. Dessert: Vanilla Frozen Custard with Egg Yolk Caramel Sauce: YESSSSSSS. Get it. Frozen custard isn’t the same as ice cream, and that caramel sauce is so delicious and not terribly sweet at the same time. Service wise, I appreciated our waiter for picking up the little things like splitting our burger and making sure we ordered enough to make it more of a «family style» meal. I know Fog City doesn’t Unilocal well, and I can maybe see why the food snobs of SF would turn their nose up at something like this on the Embarcadero that caters primarily to tourists and people passing through to get to the terminals. That being said, this was a great casual place that had good food!

This place has been around forever but never got to try it till recently. When you step in it feels like you’re in a fancy diner. We went for dinner and the lights were turned down low. We loved the deep booths for a lot of privacy and comfort. Foodwise we didn’t find it super special but everything tasted fine. Nice place to stop in and get out of the cold and busyness of the streets.

It took living in SF for well over 10 yrs to finally visit this institution. While it is a tourist trap I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the overpriced experience. Only had a couple of drinks and an appetizer. Total tab was 50 $ + tip. Drinks however — were world class, and the club soda was gratis. If you’re in the area and in a spendy mood — Fog City will take good care of you.

Went here to just grab drinks with my friend. I got an aviation, but it was very very sweet(which usually it is more on the softer side of the palate) but the bartender kindly remade it for me. I didn’t get to try the food but it looked good. Would definitely come back!

On a cold night walking back from the pier, the hubs and I stumbled upon this place which was warm and smelled like a wood fire. We cozied up to the bar which was a large, horseshoe shape and underlit which just added to the warmth. We only had drinks the first night, but came back for lunch another time. Their fries are amazing, I only wish I was hungrier to eat the whole bowl! The hubs had a tuna melt on sourdough and loved it. I had the caesar salad which came with the romaine leaves whole(I think this is how it was done back in the day), which I think is a fun way to eat it. On a cold night after walking along the waterfront, I recommend coming into Fog City to warm up at the bar and enjoy some good food!

Heard so many good things about Fog City, so my co-worker and I decided to have lunch here a couple weeks ago. We got the deviled eggs to share and I got the fried chicken sandwich. The deviled eggs are SOO good and definitely a must get! I love the crispy bacon and quinoa bits. My fried chicken sandwich was also pretty good, though it was a bit heavy for lunch. It came with green chili cole slaw, pickles, and potato salad. Unless you’re absolutely starving, I suggest eating half in case you get food coma: P This place gets absolutely jammed packed for lunch so if you’re coming with a big party be sure to call in for a reservation. I will definitely be back to try other items on their menu as well as the furikake fries! 4STARS

The view, the food, and the service. This may be a touristy spot, but last time I was here I had blast. This was the meeting spot for a few fellow CMs before the craziness of CM week was upon us. Fog City is located right by the water in between Embarcadero and North Beach, smack dab in the middle of a bustling tourist spot. Don’t let this deter you from venturing here, not only does this place offer an amazing people watching vantage point, but their menu will surprise you. We tried a little bit everything… Local Oysters on the Half Shell, Grilled Octopus, Deviled Eggs, Short Rib Kim Chi Tacos, Broccoli Di Cicco and for dinner I ordered the special of the day, which was a poached salmon in a vinaigrette corn slaw. Everything was very good, but some of the highlights were the Grilled Octopus, Short Rib Kim-Chi tacos, and the Salmon. The octopus wasn’t chewy or slimy, cooked perfect and it came with potatoes and a light olive oil. The salmon was delicious, flaky light and came on top of vinaigrette corn slaw. My favorite sampling of the meal was the tacos, I personally love short rib; tender fatty meat slow cooked for what seems like forever! — Then you put that shit on a tortilla. Boom mind blown. Unfortunately, this wasn’t my meal, I was merely offered a bite and I very quickly wished this were mine. Honorable mention goes to the Deviled Eggs and the two cocktails I tried, «Sweep the Leg» — Bulleit Bourbon, Cacao Nib, Ancho Chile, Gancia Americano, Citrus Honey, Walnut Bitters and the«Silver Tongued Devil» — Nolet’s Gin, Cucumber, Mint, Lemon, Honey, Blanc Vermouth. Hey Fog City… I see you.

I came here to eat lunch with my friend since I was in town for the San Francisco Marathon. The place was pretty empty when we first sat down, but it did get pretty busy for lunch. The perimeter of the restaurant was pretty much all windows so you can see the bay and the beautiful California weather. I started it off with a Bloody Devil. Instead of going with the usual post marathon burger, I decided to change things up and went with their Cubano sandwich. *Bloody Devil* It was pretty much a Bloody Mary with a deviled egg. For a Bloody Mary, it was one of the better drinks that I’ve had. It had just the right amount of spiciness for me. *Cubano* It had roasted pork, house cured ham, Swiss cheese, grainy mustard and came with salt & vinegar fries. The sandwich had a decent taste, but overall it was a bit underwhelming. I do love salt & vinegar fries! Overall I felt that everything on the menu was a bit overpriced. I guess it’s to be expected since it was located in a pretty prime area for extracting tourist dollars. That’s not to say that the food wasn’t good. It’s decent food, but you’re definitely not getting a big bang for your buck.

4.5STARS Me: «Where do you wanna go for brunch?» Mr. NSS: «I don’t know…» Me: «Just pick something.» Mr. NSS: «Anything.» Me: «Well, I’ve been up since 6:30 am and you’ve been snoring away since 11 pm last night. It’s now 11:30 am on a Sunday and you’re STILL in bed, and now every popular brunch spot in SF now has 2 hour wait…» Mr. NSS: «Gawd, is your period coming?» Bad, bad, bad answer. Let’s get this out of the way and state the obvious: I’m a nagger. Nothing to be proud of and I’m working on not becoming the full blown version of my mother. In the interim, Mr. NSS has invested in ear plugs. Mr. NSS had to stop by the office so we decided to brunch/lunch nearby at Fog City. I’ve driven by hundreds of times but never cared to visit, as I always thought of it as an overpriced tourist trap for retirees. With the revamp in late 2013, came a modern atmosphere and with a menu to match. Just like every restaurant along the Embarcadero, it’s expensive but unlike the others, the food and dranks are anything but mediocre. It’s solid for the Embarcadero. Fog City also take reservations for brunch so no wait! They’re also super dog friendly. We sat outside(~10 tables) and the hostess was kind enough to bring a water bowl for him: . The brunch menu has staples like French toast, Eggs benedict, and Chorizo hash, but their regular lunch menu looked much more enticing so we ordered from there. As an FYI, there’s HH specials Monday — Friday from 4 pm — 6 pm including $ 1.50 oysters. On Mondays, there’s «Manhattan Mondays» with $ 8 Manhattans and $ 29NY Steak. Additionally, there’s «9 After 9» where the burger is $ 9 after 9 pm(regularly $ 17.50). Nothing like a little Sunday Funday without some dranks, and they do it well here. I started with the Daredevil($ 10): which was slightly fruity and really refreshing with the ginger beer: . I also ordered a Moscow Mule($ 11) which actually came in a chilled copper mug *gasps*: . This is the first time in years, that I’ve had a properly served Moscow mule… in a chilled copper mug. Legit. We shared the following: *Deviled Eggs w/grain mustard, crispy quinoa, bacon($ 9): *Hand Cut Furikake Fries w/garlic aioli($ 8.50): *Tuscan Kale Salad w/shaved fennel, blueberries, goats milk feta, ginger dressing($ 11.50): *Maple-Coriander Pork Belly w/crispy fried oysters, baby mustard greens, pickled bing cherries($ 26.50): *Fog City Tahitian Vanilla Frozen Custard w/egg yolk caramel($ 7): Unilocalers didn’t steer us wrong, the Deviled Eggs and Furikake Fries are must orders! The deviled eggs were velvety smooth with a great porky crunch from the bacon, and for some health, the sprinkling of crispy quinoa was a nice addition. I’m usually not a fan of thick cut fries because they tend to be soggy but not here. The fries were super crisp and the furikake(nori, sesame seeds) added a wonderful roasted nuttiness. I love kale salad, and the Tuscan kale salad didn’t disappoint with its freshly crisp leaves and creamy dressing but it could have been elevated with some nuts for a crunchy texture contrast. Just reading the description of the pork belly dish on the menu had me salivating. When it arrived, I had to pick my mouth up from our table. It tasted as glorious as it looked. The pork belly was rich, fatty, and incredibly tender(sous-vide then seared?). It was lacquered in a savory sweet maple-coriander glaze. Take a forkful of the pork belly and a fried oyster, and squeeze some charred lime on it…*cherubs sing*. It’s a shame I had to share with another carniwhore. A sweet ending to our solid brunch/lunch was the Tahitian Frozen Custard with egg yolk caramel poured tableside. Densely silky, rich, and vanilla-ey. The caramel was unlike any caramel I’ve ever had, you can really taste the lushness from the egg yolks. YUM. Service was very cordial and attentive. Our waiter was super nice to Tater Tot, and told us about his rescue Pekingese. Considering they were getting pretty busy(lots of tourists), the food came out timely. Since we were sitting outside, I was only able to take a sneak peek of the renovated digs when I was on my way to the restroom. Its«diner» days are long gone. It’s now very contemporary with lots of rich woods. Huge space with seating for over 150 so it’s good for small and large parties. Parking sucks and we had to pay the meter… on a Sunday($ 3.50/hour). But it was totally worth it because we discovered Levi’s Plaza Park next door to Fog City. We were both born and raised in SF, and never stumbled upon this gorgeous and calming hideaway until Sunday. Some people were mediating on the grass while some families had a small picnic. Tater Tot loved rolling around in the lush grass, and he refused leave. Don’t worry folks, he didn’t give the grass a golden shower.

Lush and inviting outdoor space though the sidewalk can get a bit busy, so had to opt for an equally attractive seat indoors. This resto is across the street from Pier 27 /waterfront and it really has a nice ambiance, with a large bar and open kitchen, accommodating tables and booths. Overall, good stuff at Fog City but«coulda been better.» Greeting by the hostess — limp. When I noted I’d first used the restroom before being seated, she seemed baffled. Fog City? I think her mind was elsewhere. Coulda been better. Greeting and service at the bar — stiff. Not as friendly as I’d have hoped but completely competent, so that’s alright. Still, coulda been better. Food — good, but had to massage it. Crab benedict(crab on the side and note the acceptable portion for $ 19) however it was all bland. Even the hollandaise sauce had no lemon sparkle nor even the hint of vinegar which is mentioned on the menu. Had to request: lemon, drawn butter and hot sauce.(And the latter was liquid fire in a shallow bowl, so needed to be more specific, I suppose. Something controlled and bottled like«Tabasco» or whatever, I would hope is on hand.) A friend was to be joining me for more eats, but we decided to move on across the street for oysters instead of staying at Fog City as planned. All in all, was alright, but woulda coulda shoulda been better.
