Salad connoisseurs! This is a great place to go if you have a hankering for a salad. I don’t mean just any salad. I mean a ginormous salad that can last you a couple days. Not only does this place offer salads that you can make your own way, but they also offer sandwiches and hot meal options that are pretty delicious as well. If you don’t care to wait in line for either, you can check out their refrigerated sections for something to grab and go real quick. But be forewarned: your small salad may soon turn into a large 2 – 3 pounder. It’s so easy to get carried away with all the options(so try not to come here too hungry). After you’ve created your dream salad, you get to also choose this amazing bread(either white or wheat) that’s nice and buttery(and goes great with the extra butter they provide) all for free! Your stomach will thank you, but your arteries… not so much. Likes: –very generous portions –salad, entrée, and salad options –expansive salad topping options Dislikes: –à la carte pricing that can add up if you’re not careful

They say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, but sadly this Focaccia location was just not on par with the Focaccia’s that I’ve previously been to. The selection is noticeably slimmer and the menu’s on the wall look like they were hastily written to get the doors open! But what really got to me was the uneasy smell when you walk in. I’m not sure how to describe it, but it was reminiscent of the powder that teachers use to pour over«accidents» back in grade school. I’m pretty sure that’s what gave us all a run for the door.

I purchased their breakfast sandwich on Monday. They charged me a little over $ 8.00 for it. It basically consist of eggs & cheese between an everything bagel. I also order a hot link. The next day, I ordered an everything bagel & a hot link. The young cashier charged me a total of $ 3.70. Today, I ordered the same meal & the older cashier tried to overcharge me for the egg/cheese sandwich. I told her she overcharged me. She tried to re-ring up my purchase but tried to overcharge me again. I asked her why is she overcharging me? She said she not done and repeated it several times. Then, she said she ask him tomorrow(who, the owner?) So, watch out when buying something here from this establishment(especially, the older cashier).

I was really happy with my lunch salad. It’s a «Chipotle» assembly line style salad bar. You get to pick the types of greens, 3 toppings(more is extra), and a choice of protein(also extra). The«small» is actually a really hefty portion so I doubt anyone needs a large unless they plan on eating it for multiple meals I tried a mixed greens & arugula salad with the spicy chicken, artichoke hearts, marinated bell peppers, and cucumbers and it was really yummy. The greens were super fresh and crisp and the chicken was very flavorful and a good portion. My total came out to about $ 9 and while that’s not cheap, it’s a better deal than Mix It Greens. I only wish they’d throw in a piece of focaccia in with the salad.

Great lunch option for salads! Very reasonably priced for the size(the«small» is really packed in so you get a lot more food than you expect). I love the endless combinations of veggies and proteins and the choice of greens(kale, arugula, spinach, mixed greens, or mix them!). They also have delicious hot food(rotisserie chicken and salmon) with savory sides. Nothing life-changing here but the food is good and the service is always friendly. I wish there was some space to sit but this is really a grab and go set-up.

1 star for excellent responsive customer service. 1 star for a very clean well maintained establishment. 1 star for a menu with many choices 2 stars for the food: I ordered a extra meat loaded omelette: spectacular! and the side of potato rounds out a complete meal. Then tried the Tuna sandwich on white role: remarkably fresh and delicious! The atmosphere is welcoming, the workers take great pride in the work they do, their attire commands respect as well. Focaccia market is a sure hit.

Can’t say much about their food but I did grab a mocha and a chocolate chip cookie from their baked goods. Mocha didn’t taste so good and cookie didn’t taste fresh. I thought the $ 8 I paid for both would get me a little more.

One of my many resolutions for 2015 is to get on the healthier side of that damn BMI chart. And once I do, I’m gonna celebrate with a rack of BBQ pork ribs, a bottle of 2012 Meritage, and a coconut cream pie from Heidi’s. Don’t judge. It’s an acceptable incentive that can produce the desired outcome… and then only slightly negate it in a most spectacular fashion. But until that day, you’ll find me standing in line at Focaccia’s salad bar station ordering something super healthy. Their welcomed arrival in the Mission has brought yours truly a viable means to get some quality greens that are fresh, tasty, and local. In addition to the salad station, there is also a sandwich, a hot plate, and a coffee /pastry station. The only drawback is that there is no seating which is a total bummer since people watching would be a premium at the corner of 8th and Mission. Overall, I’m really digging the salads at Focaccia: there’s a myriad of combinations I can choose from and knowing that the food is local makes me think I’ll be eating those ribs sooner than later.

Can only talk about the sandwiches: This is like Subway with slightly better quality ingredients. If you have the 8 mins to walk to Tony Baloney’s sandwiches, you should. A superior experience at the same price point. Unlike Subway, they don’t even have a sandwich menu; you have to pick everything. At 1:15pm, they had run out of most of their sandwich bread. Currently no seating. Stale cookies. They’re new, so hopefully they improve.

Let’s start with the good: I am excited about coming here more now because it is literally across the street from work and they have SO many options… from make-your-own salads, to sandwiches, to soups, to hot lunches, plus some baked goods! I’ve tried two of their salads already and a small salad is the perfect size for me for lunch! You first pick your type of veggie(ex. kale, spinach, arugula, lettuce, etc) and then you pick 3 toppings plus dressing! That would be $ 5.95, but more if you add meat or avocado. The first salad I concocted was arugula with corn, bleu cheese, egg with raspberry vinaigrette and that was bombbbb! My second salad wasn’t as good but I picked the ingredients myself so that’s on me! They have a lot of options to choose from so try diff ones every time! Now the bad: The only reason it’s a 3 right now is because although I was very lost the first day, no one attempted to help. And I’m talking about the ladies working at the salad bar who were just really rude. I obviously looked confused trying to figure out where the line even started… but they would just talk to each other… stare at me… and continue talking… although I was standing right in front of the glass just waiting for them to finish. When I asked them where the line was… one lady literally laughed and pointed to the left side. If there’s nobody in line and there is nothing written or any line indications. HOWWOULDWEKNOW? And then I find out that they barely speak English so I had so much trouble just ordering the salad. They answered my questions with random answers and I couldn’t understand them either through their very thick accents. I mean just ordering chicken… I got«chicken and avocado extra». And i tell them yeah that’s fine! To which she responds…“chicken and avocado extra”. I tell her again that that’s fine. But when i actually got my salad… I realized that she really didn’t add the chicken. I’m so confused lol. Are you worried that I can’t pay 30 more cents. or are you helping me save money? Or maybe was it bc you accidentally dropped the chicken on the ground and you didn’t want me to die so you were actually being nice? Yeah no. So that sucked –______– But I’m just frustrated bc first they laughed at me when they were the ones not doing their job and just socializing. Then they were rude and dismissive while I was ordering. So frustrating! And it also doesn’t help that the glass separating the food from the customers is very high, which makes it even harder for us to speak to the employees or even hear them. I mean… I will be back but I hope the service at the salad bar gets better.

Good-tasting food. I’d say they’re still figuring out the flow. Pretty slow. More importantly: I pointed out to 2 people– including the mgr — they need to shield the meats from the sun coming thru the window. «I know,» she says… Not a great response.

I’ll start with the disappointing part, then get to the rave reviews. 1) The manager of this place either has chronic bad days, or she’s tired of her job, and it shows. I’ve witnessed her, on more than one occasion, speak sarcastically, rude and condescendingly to her staff in the presence of customers. This makes me feel so uncomfortable, and then I overcompensate with the pleasantries and niceness so the staff members won’t feel bad. 2) There is a young woman working the salad bar who could not make a decent salad to save her life! I’ve been burned by her twice, and it will NOT happen again. –Firstly, she doesn’t know how to toss a salad. There is nothing worse than having a tossed salad with globs of dressing in one bit, and none in the next. –Secondly, I asked for avocado. A hint that the avocado was not ripe enough to eat would have been when the tongs couldn’t cut through the meat. A co-worker who was choosing from the same avocados to make his customer’s salad, went in the back to get a new avocado because he knew they weren’t fit for human consumption. Needless to say, she continued to stab at the hard avocado which subsequently ended up in my salad. I couldn’t even chew through it. I should have returned it, but it was one of those days where I didn’t feel like arguing with anyone. –She stares at you blankly expecting you to run the show when she’s the one with the food. She doesn’t ask what you’d like, which type of lettuce you want… nothing. She stares blankly until you feel uncomfortable enough to say something. Ohhhhh kaaaay. –Like another Unilocaler said, the salads can get pricey, those toppings add up. Since they don’t have sitting areas, it’s expected that you’re taking your salad elsewhere to eat it, so what I do is pack my own toppings. I may pack my carrots, diced chicken, etc. I pay for the salad with the already included three toppings, get back to my office, and load on my toppings. Works great! Now for the good stuff… There are some REALLYGOOD salad makers here. If I’m ever in line and the Terrible Salad Maker Lady is about to call ‘NEXT!’ I let the person in back of me go(I know, that’s harsh, but…) The others are GREAT! I’ve gone there at least three times per week and I’m never disappointed with the salad makers. Great selection of salad toppings. Nice promotion for lunch with a free water. Clean. Open space. Organized. What else can I say. Give it a try!

As I walked back to my office overjoyed that I discovered an $ 8 salad in SOMA, I had visions of a glowing 4 or 5 star review. However, once I tried the salad I was very disappointed with the quality and taste particularly of the lemon chicken, which was very tough and dry. The veggies were of decent quality but the dressing was flavorless. Lots of veggie options(first 3 are free) however they can add up quickly to a pricy salad if you opt for more variety. The staff were really friendly so I might give them another chance. Mainly because it kills me to pay $ 12-$ 13 for a salad.

Time: 2:17pm/83°F sunny Purpose: Went back to check out the place that I’ve put on map a while back. Since I’ve try their other locations I was in no hurry to review this place. Ambiance: Located on a corner on Mission street with non stop traffic flow. This place is spacious but no seating of any kind inside/outside. I ask and they said, working on it. How can that be you’re opening an eatery first thing comes to mind is making the customers comfortable while dining there. When you walk in going by the looks of the place one would think are they closing up soon. Inside houses 4 stations from left to right side sandwich, hot food, salad/soup, and coffee drink stations. One counter I’m middle of shop use for ringing up the lunch time crowd. Against the outer corners are shelfs fill with condiment packets and utensils. Staff: A staff of mostly if not all Hispanic workers. Some have difficulty answering me as they look at me just don’t know what or how to say it. One girl by the looks of her about to break down in tears. The workers realized that this might be a issue quickly pulls a lady from the back area. Her uniform was different from all the others. Assuming she must be the manager in charge. I told her that I had ask in there were any quinoa with the premade salad. The girl later I learn was Gabriela came back with a turkey provolone sandwich. Manager apologize and told me most of the items are out on display and they don’t use quinoa there. Thank you very mam I’ll take a minute to look things over. By the way is there lunch specials here? She replay free soda or bottle water for the month of October special. Cleanliness: Grade A, the place was clean and all, spotless. However I didn’t like what the workers were doing. While I ate my food as I watch on the workers here certainly don’t have food handling certifications. Two things that bothers me while I stand there with open containers eating since there’s no seating I had my back against wall. Ok, first anyone with knowledge of spraying anything must be done on the cloth itself before wiping. This wasn’t done instead the nozzle was like free flowing spraying little mist then comes the smell of chemicals. Second, one of the workers I guess was told to clean the ceiling of dust. So he grabs one of those whiffer dusted with extension handle he drapes a dust cloth and goes from end to end of ceiling. At this point I got piss closed my boxes walk out in disgust. End up finishing in the car afterwards fishy smell lingers but dissipate itself. Eats/Drinks: Chicken salad $ 4.25 and salmon salad $ 8.45. The salad dressing was too heavy with cheap mayo that of the lowest quality standards. However it’s not all that bad there were real chicken chunks hidden among seasoning and herbs. These chunks are not processed plastic wrap versions, instead it’s in house baked. It wasn’t that bad other than the mayo situation. The salmon salad which I really like was a little over price IMHO that is. At $ 8.45 for the fillet of about 4oz along with alfa sprouts, greens, edamame, dressing, cherry tomatoes, capers, and cucumbers still didn’t justify the pricing. Although the salmon was fresh tasting the cold hardness with a more than fishy smell had me wondering. I understand that in the food business saving time and being productive is a must. After pouring the dressing it made it somewhat better but still not what I thought it would taste like, base on package and descriptions. Products/Services: Premade sandos, soup, salad, hot food, DIY meal kits, pizza, from the grill, a la carte, customized meal, breakfast, cereals, fruit & yogurt, cold/hot beverages, juices, sodas, water, energy drinks. Coffee by Umbria, Tea by Numi. Punch Lines: Spacious, airy, well stock, worker at each station, manager knowledgeable, baked in house bread, own roasted meats, soup made from scratch, balance place, no seating, no number to pull, all forms of payment, branded coffee, good choices, healthy alternatives, in/out within 5 mins. Monthly specials, for October 2014 buy sandwich, salad, entrée and get a free bottle of water or soda. Tradeoffs: Nothing here is locally source/sustainable or near it. Mostly commercial brand from cans and packages made in a way that looks to be done themselves. Final Thoughts: When you’re short on time or running late this can be a good place for quick bite and nothing more. Provided that you don’t mind it’s not the highest quality ingredients in place. Be patient though as you may encounter picky eaters, customizing their orders other than what’s it suppose to consist. Nothing wrong with that allow about 15 mins more after 12pm. The staff here are all if not Hispanic and English with some may seem like an episode. Take it slowly and smile at them this way they know their job was successful. In the end you will be fulfill, on your way to the rest of your day without being hungry for hours to come.

I was really excited when I saw Foccacia was opening less than a block from my work. First trip– no burgers for lunch yet(first day, no problem, still figuring things out and acquiring stock). Ended up getting pork tendorloin and mac n cheese. Pork was alright, nothing special. The mac was so oily, slightly deterred… 2nd trip for breakfast– 10:40am, they would not make me a bagel with cream cheese(they stop serving breakfast at 10:30…) I left to go get a bagel. 3rd trip– finally got my bagel– not toasted enough, but it will suffice. 4th trip– finally got a burger– so disappointed… THIN patty, thick foccocia bun. Minimal flavor; Harvest, All Star, and Honey Bistro have better burgers. Fries were thick– unsalted and nothing exciting. Saving grace– nice employees, nice manager, and tasty cookies. I’ll try them out in a few more months to see if anything improves…

There’s a lot to appreciate at Focaccia M&K –the convenience, many options, great for grab n go meals, etc. The reason for the 3 star review is that my friend and I have ordered at least 5 bagel cream cheese sandwiches with veg slices in the past week, and the sandwiches have consistently arrived without veg or at times without the requested special flavored cream cheese. These are items that have an extra cost, not complementary. I ask that the team be more diligent about reviewing the order before and after preparing the item so that the customer receives what they paid for. All the best to the Focaccia Team on Mission St.

Foccacia has finally opened! I’ve been waiting for this place for months as there aren’t many good salad options around this area. It’s bright, very clean, and very affordable so I’m already a takeout regular. They have breakfast, salads, sandwiches, entrees… basically anything you’d like to eat during the work day and plenty of options for everyone in your lunch group. A small salad is plenty large — I can never finish the whole thing. They have multiple greens(mixing kale and romaine is my current fave), lots of protein options(try the lemon chicken or the smoked salmon!), and tons of fresh toppings(delicious beets and goat cheese). You can also pick up free whole wheat or regular foccacia at the register to supplement your meal. Small salad with chicken and 3 toppings? $ 8. Can’t beat it around here. SO happy to have some healthier options in the neighborhood! Can’t wait to try their bagel and lox.

The service was nice, the lines are still really short since they just opened. I’ve been to the one by the Embarcadero and it’s about the same – with exception to some internal branding. Awesome! Their salads are amazing!

They just opened so not quite sturdy yet, however the sandwich I just ordered is pretty good, so I’ll be excited to go back. Things to improve: –Signs stating when breakfast is over(10:30) –Toast the sandwiches a little longer, mine was still cold in the center. I’m not mad about it because that’s the beauty of a sandwich being able to eat it cold. –You might not be busy yet but a second register that at least looks up and running –Chip options, maybe even French fries –A few small tables.(You might be planning that already since the place is huge.)
