This has to be the worst sushi place ever. They have sushi on a conveyer belt(which is great) however, this is how it works; whatever sushi plate you pick up you pay for! The plates range from .99 — $ 4.99. Now, this was not explained to us when we first came in. They pushed us into the sushi bar area, now I know why. Where I come from the sushi is all you can eat from the conveyer belt. So we usually eat a lot of sushi, like we did here. Well that’s NOT the case. Not to mention, they watch over you like hawk. This restaurant is weird all together!

so i should have checked Unilocal first. we stayed away from the floating sushi it didn’t look very fresh.(3pm) we had the ramen noodles. for 11.00 is was just ok. 2 pieces of pork belly & ½ egg. you can get excellent ramen for under 11.00 at ramen dojo in san mateo. the worst part of this was they put 10% tip on the bill automatically. i complained and they said they alway do it. i had alrady left a cash tip on the counter. i asked where they have it posted. of course they didn’t. they refunded my card and recharge with out tip. i will be calling my credit card company tomorrow. i left gave back my cash tip to the water after but it was less then 10% because the service was pathetic.

They truly live up to their 1 and a half star review. :) My friends and I went there on New Year’s Eve hoping to get some cravings satisfy but once we entered the restaurant there were barley any other customers. In fact without reading the Unilocal reviews we blindly tried out this place. The women who served us kept on ignoring us when we needed something like spoons and napkins. Our food took around 30 – 45 minutes to make especially when the sushi came out, we were really upset since it didn’t look fresh and it tasted kind of stale. I definitely DONOT recommend going there unless you want to try some stale rice, un-fresh fish and salty udon! BTW the tips and everything is added on for you and for $ 13 you can either get a plate of sushi combo or even a bowl of udon!

Floating Sushi Boat is eye catching and in a great location. BUTDONTBEFOOLEDBYITSENTICINGCONVEYORBELTOR «99CENTSPECIAL». A group of friends and I came in because it was the only place opened late on New Years Eve and I can honestly say it’s the worst place I’ve ever eaten at. We should’ve checked Unilocal before coming in but here is my impression of the place. Cons: –The service was atrocious even though the place wasn’t full at all. Servers did not charged extra for no reason, and didn’t let us cancel the order when the dishes took forever to come out.(Does it take half an hour to make California roll) –THEROLLSTASTEDOLD, FLAVORLESSANDNOTFRESH. Shouldn’t have gotten sashimi but even the basic CA rolls had rice with an odd mildew taste. –The gratuity is automatically charged –The quality and quantity of the food just wasn’t up to par for the price they charge Pros: My phone was dying and they didn’t say anything when I charged it in one of the outlets.

I’m in San Francisco, first time ever in Chinatown… and I opt for sushi. Why? What I really wanted was some crispy, roasted pork belly, but I was so hungry and tired from walking up and down the hills that anything looked good and Floating Sushi Boat was it. I’m a sushi ho. I can eat sushi all day, everyday, every night, for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. It’s like water to me: essential to living a happy, healthy, and fulfilled life. There were so many good-looking Chinese restaurants around, but my coworkers and I decided on Floating Sushi Boat because of how excited I was walking by it. Thinking back, it was probably the best choice since the majority of my coworkers have very limited palates and are extremely picky eaters. The woman who sat us was a little abrasive. She probably wasn’t too happy about us making a bee-line for the sushi bar, but that’s what we wanted… or so I thought. Honestly, I was the only person who ate entirely from the bar(two workers got rice bowls). I have no idea what I ate besides the seaweed salad and a California roll, but it was all so good! I was worried about a roll having shrimp and real crab in it(allergic), so I asked the chef and he made me one without. It was hot and crunchy and just too good. I had to ask for another one. All that damn walking make me so thirsty, so I was gulping down water like crazy. Made my way down to the bathroom that was in the basement… where all of the cooking goes down. It’s like a completely different continent down there! I definitely felt like I didn’t belong. The bathroom wasn’t as clean as it could have been, but it’s not like I was eating in there or anything. My bill came to about $ 21 which isn’t bad for 6 plates of sushi and a plate of seaweed salad. I’m a little surprised by the reviews. Lost of Unilocalers saying they wish they could zero-star reviews. I didn’t think the place was THAT bad, but definitely needed some improvement. I would totally visit Floating Sushi Boat again if I’m ever in the area… after trying the other restaurants in the area, of course.

This place was awful. First of all, our first mistake was going to Chinatown for sushi. No! Should have just just checked Unilocal before trying it. I had a few of their sushi from the boats. They didn’t taste very fresh and I was sitting there for quite a while and noticed that some of the dishes had been going around the belt since before I had arrived. NOTFRESH. I ordered the tonkatsu Ramen to steer clear of the u fresh fish and it was the Plainest I have ever had. The broth was milky and I wanted to ask what other broths they offered for their Ramen but I didn’t think she knew what I was talking about. At the end of the night we ended up paying like 60 for like 5 plates of sushi that wasn’t even good. Over all. Just terrible presentation and the customer service was non existent. Don’t come here people.

If I could give this place zero stars… I would! BYFARTHEWORSTPLACE I’VEEATENINMYLIFE! First if all, the place was extremely dirty. They had baking pans(they served the food with) all over the tables and against the walls. Second, they servers were extremely rude! They talk all over you and don’t listen to anything you’re saying. They yell at each other in Chinese across the whole restaurant. Our server would forget our check everytime we asked, it was in her pocket! –_– I also noticed a costumer trying to order his food but the server just kept talking over him and suggesting something else I guess? She had. A THICK accent. Third, the food had no flavor at all! And they kept forgetting my daughter’s rice(but it was surprisingly good) and my sister’s California Roll. Over all, not coming back here ever again. Sorry, I know it’s Christmas but that doesn’t mean you can be rude to all your costumers and yell at each other across the restaurant.

Worst place ever! Do not go here! I don’t understand why we chose to stay. Our biggest mistake… not checking Unilocal before walking in. I would give this place zero stars if I could. The service was terrible. The sushi looked like it was rotten and the entire place was just dirty.

I was so excited to see this on a corner in Chinatown. I didn’t think anything when I grabbed something that looked like something I would normally eat. I didn’t pay attention to the fact the ‘meat’ inside of the ‘sushi’ was brown ish. I couldn’t pin down the texture because it was wrapped in rice, fried, then some spicy mayo and scallions. I offered my boyfriend a bite but he declined and gave me a funny look. I didn’t think why, he is weird. I still have NO idea what I ate. Was it fish?(I’ve never seen one look brown like this) Was it Eel?(wrong texture) Was it a mistake?(probably) I’m chalking this up to an experience, a learning experience. My stomach was not in crazy pain, but it wasn’t loving me either. The boyfriend grabbed tuna and salmon rolls, which were easily identifiable. He said they were ok, no complaints. I also picked these fried pouches that were filled with sweet rice. They weren’t BAD, but I was hoping for something more. Overall, I would love to try one of these places where it was a little cleaner, a little more english-speaking friendly, and I understood what exactly I was grabbing.

I was surprised to see the negative reviews of this place AFTER I ate here. It will feel weird giving this place a decent 4 stars when the restaurant has 1 ½ stars. I normally check reviews of places before I eat, but my mother and I were just so hungry, that we just walked in to any restaurant sitting in Chinatown. I guess what you don’t know can’t hurt you. The food wasn’t so bad, and the service was, well, okay? My mother and I just asked for water and hot tea, and got our food from the sushi conveyor, so we weren’t that high maintenance. We just picked up anything for grabs. Food was decent and not too expensive. I get pretty full off sushi very easily, so I didn’t have to spend so much on food. I do like the à la carte style because you don’t have to order a huge entrée and leave the rest to waste. Moral of the story: Give businesses the benefit of the doubt… well, some. This was the exception.

If you’re looking for HORRIBLE service from a rude waitress and some mediocre sushi, then come here. Tip: Order from the chef, DON’T pick up anything raw that is on the conveyor belt AKA floating boat– the items are NOT very fresh. The lesson: pay that extra dollar or two, and go ANY other sushi bar around town.

We wandered around Chinatown and sampled a few restaurants to get a good variety. The Floating Boat was a novelty. A «moat» in the table floats different colored plates around the table and diners select the items desired. Pricing is based on the color of the plate selected. The quality and selection is actually pretty mediocre. It’s decent, fresh and not bad but there’s nothing amazing about it, either. I definitely opt for sitting at the prep counter in good sushi establishments and getting the more exotic and elaborate sushi option. The options here are very plain. The three stars is for the fun and easy experience — it’s fast, price is reasonable, and very low key. Unlike the fancier sushi restaurants that lend to dressier, longer, more intimate meals, this is a jeans-are-okay, diner style, good-for-lunch stop.

When I came here on the 1st time with my friend and her sister, I actually had a decent time here and the food wasn’t that bad. On this visit however, I’ve made some observations and I find this place to have some bad service and the food wasn’t really that good. Today, I arrived with two of my friends from college and they wanted to see Chinatown in San Francisco so we decided to head there for fun. After exploring the area, we were hungry and found this place to what I’ve remember was pretty good and pointed it out. We decided to head there and order food. I ordered the bento box which came with rice, teriyaki chicken, edamame, california rolls, and honeydew boba. When the lady came up for us to order, one of the things that I always ask when I order boba tea is that if the flavor mentioned on the menu is for milk tea or green tea because I’m lactose intolerant. When I asked if it was milk tea, she said«no, no milk» so I say sure I’ll order one. When the drink arrived, it had milk… Not really wanting to start a problem, I decided to try it and see if I could even finish it. One sip from it, and it tasted pretty bad. I asked my friend to try it to see if it was just me and she didn’t find it pleasant either. I left the drink there and didn’t bother finishing it(it was practically full). Next, our dishes arrived. The bento box that I order was«meh». the teriyaki chicken had no flavor, the edamame had no salt, and the california rolls was really small. Overall not really impressed by their food on the menu but their sushi was actually decent, so if you’re going there to eat, go for the sushi, it is your safest bet on a decent meal(though I would suggest trying to find another spot) Services and hospitality here are bad. In here, my friend had asked for a fork and straw which the lady took a while to get it. Other people(most likely tourists) were also not pleased with the services, as some were ignored and had to call the waitress several times to ask what she wanted. The place itself at the time was not really busy but not empty either. Then another thing I’ve seen was the waitress was doing tasks while she was on her cellphone, which in my opinion, is pretty unprofessional of them. I feel like the only reason they have so many customers is because they are tourists and that was the first restaurant they spotted and showed that it had a boat serving you food. I would honestly suggest to try to find another place to eat. There is so many other choices in Chinatown to pick from with similar menus and their food quality and service are better than this.

This restaurant sits in the heart of Chinatown. We saw it just walking down Grant Street. One of the main things that may catch your eye is that they have dishes starting at 99¢. Which may be appealing to some. Based on this shouldn’t have had expectations based on my favorite sushi restaurants. Upon eating some sushi we picked up from the floating boat, I noticed that the fish was not warm but not cold and the rice didn’t seem fresh either. So I ordered some sushi from the menu, like the spicy tuna roll and like the one from the boat, not that much better. My friend that went with me got about 10 dishes from the boat and 1 sushi dish from the menu and just his cost around $ 30. At this rate you can find a good ACE sushi restaurant. Which would have more specialty rolls and it would probably be a lot fresher. I wouldn’t suggest going here.

Stay away. Yuck gross. I made the mistake of not checking my Unilocal before sitting. …well no, truthfully I’d been flying all day and my phone was dead. This was the place that was open and I didn’t feel like a mess sitting in here. The food treated gross unfresh and I found a piece of plastic on my food. The sushi was hard as a rock. The older folks working in there meant well and were nice but the food is bad. Sorry.. not sorry

Wish I can give this place zero star. Definitely DEFINITELY the worst restaurant I have ever been to, in San Francisco, and one of the worst in the U. S… and possibly in the world(I’m a frequent traveler). I’m usually very generous with reviews and give good ratings, but I have absolutely nothing good to say about this restaurant. Here are the bad, the bad, and the ugly: Bad: false advertisement. Their signs said $.99 and up sushi boats, there was practically no $.99 boats other than cookies and other random filler food. Higher priced boats had real sushi, but overall not good value for the price. PLUS, the food on the boats did not look fresh at all. Also, they advertised out front that they have 4 draft beer, but when we sat down and asked about it the waitress said they only have two options(Sapporo and Blue Moon). Bad: terrible(and non-existent) service. No one who worked there was friendly. Not the waitress, not the«sushi chef», not the lady at the cash register. The waitress sat us by the sushi boats after we walked in, took our drink orders, then pretty much just disappeared. Ugly: The Boba drinks. That’s the ONLY reason I even went into the restaurant– i was craving a boba drink. I saw on the store front that they had a large variety of boba drinks, so we in and I ordered one. After the waitress took our drink orders and disappeared for more than half an hour, we were done with eating and ready to head out. Still no boba. hmm. My fiancé went to the waitress and asked about it, she walked right out of the restaurant to the shop next door, and picked up the boba drink from them!!! WHAT?! Even worse, the drink tasted awful. All the boba were stuck together as one big chunk, and they did not come up through the straws. I just threw it out. OVERALL, awful awful awful awful AWFUL place. Don’t go there unless you have no other options… even starving is a better option.
