This is in my neighborhood and I’m so glad it is! Hardworking Carol and her team are the best representing the best things about our close knit blue collar working family and I always feel welcome here. Great service, local people vibe and I’m proud to say I’m a longtime outside lands resident, wouldn’t have it any other way!!!

I grew up in this hood, always saw old drunk people stumbling out. When I was younger I was scared of what goes on in there. I saw old people doing secret knocks to get in at 7am… Oh hell no I’m not going in. I imagined a old dark dive bar with depressing people hanging around, you know like what you see in the movies! haha. My friend said, lets go… I’m now 36 and it was my first time stepping foot into this scary place I imagined… Oh dang! It’s not scary, or dark, they are super friendly and I am addicted to the string ring game! Cheap drinks compared to the rest of SF, cool bartender, mixed crowd, all friendly! I’ll be back to win $ 50 prize ring string competition, I don’t know the name of the game :)

Love this place. Stopped here on a Saturday, early evening. Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive bartender Drinks are not overpriced Fun specials on(most) weekdays There’s a clean, modern vibe to this bar — it somehow captures the casual comfort of an Irish pub minus the tackiness and grime that so often accompanies other businesses in this category Great beer selection No bumpin tunes — you can talk to someone and hear what they’re saying! Cons: Small place 4 TVs had the same station going… Could be considered a pro for others There were some loudish local clientele present Summary: Go to this place if you’re looking for a nice calm bar to chill at for an afternoon, and bring a date if that’s an option

My local dive bar — it is always entertaining. It’s tiny and not fancy but the beer and liquor selection has improved, the service is friendly and it’s one of those place where you never know what you will find. Good place to watch a Warriors game if you want to get rowdy and special bonus — they are starting to have bands play.

Flanahans is the most amazing bar in San Fancisco. A little taste of Dublin with a ring. This bar is a phenominal blend of style, class, and european dreams. If you desire an escape from who you used to be and a dream of who you may become… Give it a go. Tell em Braden sent ya.

This was a locals recommendation but it ended up being a full on jerry springer show. The bar tender is fully responsible for my anguish and I’ll tell you why. She took 45 minutes to take my drink order all night. finally at last call she took my money and preceded to rip my drink out of my hand 1 minute later. The whole time she screamed profanities at me and the rest of her last call victims. Thank you for a truly awful experience.

Sure, It’s St. Paddy’s and I’m not a regular, but you figure if I show up and am willing to pay for a pint of Guinness, I might get it. Nope. This place may have gotten a fresh coat of paint but the service has gone to shit. Un-fucking-acceptable.

Perfect local watering hole. Cheap strong drinks, TVs, jukebox and dart board. Oh yeah the bartenders are awesome!

Great neighborhood dive bar. Dart boards, Tv’s, Jukebox, cheap drinks, stiff drinks. What more can you ask for. Great whiskey selection. Bulleit is on special for $ 4 on Wednesdays! You can’t beat that deal! But wait, they did beat that. On top of the $ 4 Bulleit, Lisa(awesome bartender) brings in amazing chocolate brownies that compliment bulleit perfectly. Check it out when in the Sunset

Love coming here to meet up with friends sporadically. It’s small and super divey so don’t plan on bringing a huge crowd here. Great bar that really defines the Sunset Dive bar scene.

My local watering hole. It’s small, divey and filled with regulars. Check your pretension at the door and saddle up for a beer and a shot.

I love Flanahan’s. It’s a great local bar that I’ve frequented regularly since moving to the neighborhood over two years ago. All of the bartenders have been great until recently, the drinks are stiff, and there’s no shortage of local characters which makes for good people watching. However, recently I’ve been disappointed with the bartender working on Friday evenings. She not only looks unhappy every time I’ve been in there, she looks pained to be working as a bartender where she’s getting tipped. I can understand an occasional off day for anyone servicing the public. Working in the service industry is under appreciated, I totally get that, and try hard to not fault people for having to deal with customers. On the other hand, I just can’t go back to this bar on the nights she is working. I’ve been in probably four or five times when she’s working at all variations of the bar being slow to slammed and she has been cold and doesn’t smile at all. The most notable time(my last time in there at that time, because it pissed me off) was when I saw an older regular(probably 80 years old) engage with her in conversation. She just looked flat-out uninterested, stood there, listened, and responded, but barely, with no expression, and totally looked like a bitch. I can understand not being on your A-game 100% of the time, or not wanting to engage in small-talk with everyone, or people acting totally shit-faced, but I can’t understand acting like that to an old person who’s in there regularly who’s just trying to be nice. I don’t like that type of behavior. I won’t be back on the evenings she works. As far as the rest of the bartenders, they’re great! And obviously I’m not going to fault a business on Unilocal for one bartender who’s bad. But, honestly, having people who looked pained to work at an establishment is only going to drive business away, as it has me.

The new skinny, tweaker-looking bartender who’s there on Thursday nights(or that was there on 9÷4÷2014) is a total bitch with the worst fucking attitude possible. She constantly has a scowl on her face and is one of the least friendly, least personable humans I’ve ever met. I wish Jill was back. Whoever thought this girl was a good hire should seriously reconsider their career choice in bar management. She’s so wretched I would rather walk 6 blocks to the Riptide instead of ½ a block to Flannie’s when she’s working. Total buzzkill.

Came here during our wait for a table at Toyose across the street. The service here isn’t that friendly. In fact the bartender seemed annoyed of us, maybe because we weren’t a regular or a local? Not sure. anyways, the drinks are cheap and stiff, there is some seating. the bathrooms are gross like all bars are. It’s not a bad place to come and just grab a couple of drinks, but definitely not the best place either. Maybe if i’m in the area and just need something to calm me down. lol =]

Meeting the new owner last October motivated me to give Flanahan’s a try. The buzz in the neighborhood was he instituted some changes that transformed the appeal of this establishment into a true neighborhood bar. So my wife and I made the decision to give it a try. Flanahan’s is now our go to neighborhood watering hole. One glaring fact must however be pointed out. This is not an establishment for hipsters or amateurs. This is a professional drinkers bar. You won’t find any mamby pamby, little umbrella on the side, fruit skewered on a mini-plastic sword, flowery descriptions of some bartenders acid induced concoctions. This is a BAR! Drinking is the point. Drinking is the goal to all who enter. Patrons scream for the local sports teams. T-shirts, flip-flops and cut offs is the uniform of the day. Bring in some nachos, quaff down a brew or ten and you’ll feel right at home. Keep your friggin Iphones, Ipads and other I-doodles at home. Drinking is the order of the day and drink you will. The beer is basic, the drinks are strong and your wallet will not thin down to the size of some New York runway model. Divey, oh yea! This is Sunset, that’s what we like. Got a dog, bring it in. Got a monkey, bring it in. Got a pet snake, bring it in. Flanahan’s is a true neighborhood bar, and a fine one at that.

I’m happy to see that Flanahan’s has improved. It used to be pretty depressing, but the last few times I’ve gone it has been a pretty fun crowd and good service.

My friends and I randomly chanced upon this place while waiting for our reservation time at a nearby restaurant. I didn’t have super high expectations coming in since we just wanted somewhere to hang out and get out of the wind for about half an hour or so. The interior was surprisingly cozy and quite clean, with bar seats both along the bar as well as along the wall. There was a hip and new flat-screen tv that was playing music, and a game table as well as dartboards along the back wall. Four or five other patrons were sitting along the bar, and a couple seemed to be engaged in conversation as new acquaintances. The bartender, Annette, was super friendly and sweet. She patiently gave my friend beer recommendations(I forgot what she got, but it was good!) and loaned us darts for the dartboard. Prices were reasonable, and I liked that there were actual coasters instead of just paper napkins. It wasn’t super crowded, but there was a nice, friendly vibe to the place. I’d stop by again if I’m in the area, especially since there’s a dartboard!

This is a locals pub. A very divey, very good, locals pub. But if you’re not a local, no matter. You’ll be treated as one.
