Dupont Market was the biggest seafood market in chitown in it’s time, at the corner of Pacific St. and Grant Ave. it my youth, it was a thrill coming here with grandpa, mom, or dad, to see the live fish in the tanks, the semi-live crabs, live frogs/turtles/snakes and the hundreds of different fishes lying on beds of ice like they were dead.(i know they were pretending so they wouldn’t end up being someone’s dinner.). since no one in chitown had cars, this was the most exciting place to visit/be at .when i was living in chitown. the screaming chickens at On Sang Poultry next door are a close 2nd. the chicks screamed like their heads were gonna get chopped off. …too noisy for me.
