Really cheap drinks! Bartenders are definitely generous with the liquor. this isn’t the type of place that you stay at all night, just a good place to drop in, drink hang out a little bit and then go back out. It’s pretty small. It can get packed and when it does it heats up really quickly. It’s hit or miss on whether or not you can find a spot at the bar or in the tables in the back. The problem is that if the seating is all taken you feel completely awkward just standing there or struggling to have a place to stand as people funnel in towards the bar and push you aside. Really chill crowd though. Nothing out of the ordinary. I’d definitely want to drop by again.

Used to be my favorite bar in the Marina but have since stopped going here because it’s always WAY too crowded and the ventilation sucks and all-around a very claustrophobic place. The drinks are good enough and the people are fun enough. It’s just that they let way too many people into this establishment.

A typical bar in the Marina. Cheap drinks, disgusting floor, decent dance music, an interesting mix of people. Then again, I was here for a pub crawl, so that might speak differently about the crowd. The drinks here are STRONG. Definitely worth the money, and they take credit cards with no minimum limit. Definitely a more frat-boy kind of scene, but that’s to no fault of theirs. Overall, I wouldn’t want to spend my entire night here, but definitely down to come by for a drink or two.

A dive bar in the Marina is hard to comprehend, but tis true, my dears. Dive Bar Diva here, and after a SF Dine About Town outing at a nearby resto, we stopped in Delaney’s Bar for some bevvys. The scene wasn’t as crazy crowded and frat partyesque as the other spots we passed, and decided to enter as the bouncer was quite nice and welcoming. Lots of beers on tap, and a fully stocked bar. Can you say HO? My beloved HOegaarden is on tap, and y’all know how I feel about dem HOs. The HOs I was with elected to partake in the Blue Moons, but won’t HOld that against them. hahah! AnywHO, other positives about this Marina ‘dive’ are the jukebox, free popcorn, and the Galaga/Pacman sit down video game. Last year, my friend and I were playing this fantabulous and classic 80s game, and a few fellas approached us. They had never seen or heard of Galaga. Oh Mylanta! Come to think of it, I don’t believe they’ve even played a video game with an Atari joystick with one red button to press. I felt hella old next to this younguns, but needless to say, we wHOoped their asses. *Please folks, move your empty booze glasses away from this beloved game when people are in game mode! Thanks!* Anywho, Delaney’s is a decent spot. I may drop in for a quick drink whenever I’m in the hood, especially with the HOegaarden on tap and free popcorn. Cheers!

I loved this cute little no-frills bar without the pretension that’s normally found in Marina bars. The bartender was friendly(and didn’t give me grief for using a credit card) and the crowd seemed a little mellower and friendlier than the typical Marina crowd. The only downside was that I ordered a Blue Moon and it did not come with it’s typical wedge of orange.

I rarely come on Unilocal to write bad reviews, but Delaney’s is the exception. Even while I am usually prepared to deal with a marina«frat boy» level of attitude heading into the bar scene on a Thursday night… it is rare that a bartender is the one to give it. I understand that if your liquor license is till 1AM that you have to shut down; however, there was no announcement for last call and 1AM is not a typical CA shutdown time. Not to mention had three full beers that had been bought 10 minutes prior(can we say: waste of money). The bartender came over, told us the bar was closing, actually took the beer from our hands, and given they were full, managed to spill all over my friend in doing so. He semi-apologized which was quickly negated by him following up that he felt justified in his actions. Seconds later he dropped one of the beers shattering it all over our feet. It reminded me of one of those movies where a kid gets to run his parents bar while having no clue what he is doing. It truly was the worst bar experience I have ever had(and I’ve had a few). Even though Delaney’s might be a fun place with good prices, I personally will never go back.

I was here on a Tuesday night, so obviously can’t comment about how packed this place gets(I hear it gets really full on weekend days). Although I must say, The Tipsy Pig and Delarosa’s bars were completely packed on this Tuesday night, when Delaney’s wasn’t(which is why we came here). I can, however, comment on their drinks — boy, were they STRONG! You definitely get what you pay for! Delaney’s is a chill bar in the Marina; a great place to grab drinks with friends. Nothing fancy or over the top, just your average bar. The bartenders seemed friendly, and strong drinks are always a plus! P. S. They have free popcorn.

What can i say, who doesnt love salty popcorn goodness at 1 in the morning, free I might add. I pretty much parked my feet right next to the popcorn machine, one of the highlights of my night, I was hungry. Something about salt when you drink. Overall, the place is crazy packed! Took a while to get a drink. But not bad prices, I got a glass of wine and a patron shot for about $ 16 or so. The music was average and so was the crowd. Nothing super awesome, just a chill laid back bar, had a pool table. Though some nice guy took our pic for us. I’m a so-cal girl, and well no matter north or south, you will find a bar like this anywhere… a bit boring unless you come with good friends to make the night worth while! Oh an another upside was the jukebox, except I don’t think anyone with bad taste in music should be allowed to touch.

For some reason I want to hate on Delaney’s(maybe because it’s in the Marina?), but when I think about it, I’m really just indifferent to the place. I don’t know, I don’t do the Marina bar scene all that often, but when I do Delaney’s is not bad for a drink or two at some point during the night. If anything, it’s less crowded than most other bars so you get drinks faster. I’m trying to think of anything that stands out at Delaney’s and I got nothing! It’s a bar… it’s in the Marina… it serves alcohol. If you’re in area(voluntarily or otherwise) and don’t want to deal with crowds, stop into Delaney’s for a couple drinks. If you’re looking for a fun night out and happen to be in the area(I wouldn’t make a special trip here or anything) stop in Delaney’s for a drink a two(it’s not the place to hang out at all night though). That’s really all I got on Delaney’s. It’s OK…

I stopped into Delaney’s because I didn’t want to hack my way through bros at The Tipsy Pig just to get a quick beer while waiting for some friends. This place definitely seems to be the overflow. The music is also loud in here, just not as bad. I guess not as loud BAD music is more tolerable to way too loud GOOD music. Who knew?! I enjoyed watching the eclectic group of patrons have a good time. When one group realized there was probably not enough room to dance adjacent to the bar, they just took it to the sidewalk in front. Problem solved! Delaney’s also has a number of large TVs in case you want to check out whatever sports game is going on. If you’re in more of a chill mood, go here.

We popped in here as the next to the last stop on a fun night of Cinco de Mayo barhopping. Per my other review, I used to really like this place years ago when Tim Delaney and his wife owned it, but nowadays, it just doesn’t do anything for me. I’ve also had more trouble in this ex-frat bar than any other bar in the marina. That’s saying a lot. Everyone who knows me knows how eclectic I am… I go everywhere to have fun and feel pretty comfortable in the very best and worst of places. As such, I never did really understand all the marina hate. This place has enlightened me a bit.

It’s finally happened. I find myself asking my friends if we can go out in the Marina on the weekends. I have no idea what’s come over me. It might be the bacardi and vodka cranberries, but there’s some really good, and chill bars in the area and it’s the most convenient place to get to from my apartment. I just recently discovered the bars on Chestnut which is how I found Delaneys. There’s always a chill crowd, and despite being on the smaller side, it doesn’t get too overly crowded. There’s also a good amount of seating. The bartenders kick ass and I’ve never waited longer than 30 seconds for a drink. And pricing my usual vodka crans at $ 4 a piece? I’m sold.

Awesome and chill bar for being located in the Marina. Despite the usual Marina scene, I felt like there was a totally different vibe going on at Delaney’s. The bouncer and the bartenders were super friendly and had 0 attitudes, which for some reason I find hard to come by. The bar itself is a little small and gets crowded pretty easy but even with all the people my girls and I managed to get a table. I have recently been on the search for the perfect Lemon Drop and while Delaney’s hasn’t ended my search it’s definitely in the top 5. AND they use real lemon juice, which is how a lemon drop is suppose to be made.

Love this local bar. Bartenders are great, not ever too crowded. Great little sports bar to grab a beer at, away from the mess of floozies next door at Tipsy.

I was in the bar twice in the same day. The first time was earlier in the evening where I stopped in for a beer-hey I was on vacation don’t hate. The place was pretty quiet-it was around quitting time though and it seemed like another place where it was dive-y and had an old timer feel to it, despite the young, attractive bartender. The place was decent enough. The trouble was when we came back later that night. Our host coincidentally was arranging a get together at the same place that night. The place got packed after the sun went down but that wasn’t the issue. They had $ 3 PBRs and it was clearly advertised on giant banner so why did the bartender-different one from the one earlier charge me a dollar more than my traveling buddy and our host? I couldn’t really birng myself to like the place after that.

Pretty typical of a Irish bar, with a chill laid back attitude, reasonably priced drinks and nice bartenders. Unlike the rest of the Marina, the vibe is alot more casual in here at night. Which sometimes is exactly what you want.

It’s pretty chill here. Local pub in the marina which is sort of on the smaller side, but fills up pretty fast at nights. I had a french martini and it was ok, but they didn’t mix the chambord with the rest of the liquor, so it tasted more like pineapple vodka at first. The tables are circular with small circular bases and be careful setting your drinks on them. I had mine spill on me because when someone leans on the table, it goes a-flying. Crowd is very marina.

Delaney’s sounds like an Irish pub with an assumed dive ambiance. If that’s what you thought, then you will not be surprised when you step inside the doors. A few beers on tap, local feel, nice bartenders, TVs, Irish flag, and it can get noisy. Nothing fancy or special, just your drink served the way you like. Maybe not your one and only destination but good to grab a few drinks and plan out your night. The nightly specials when we went were: $ 4 jack and cokes, $ 3PBR and $ 3 Pilsner all night long.

*ahem* And now, a brief story involving Delaney’s Bar… Once upon a time I was drinking at the Grant and Green in North Beach when my friend and I decided to make our way to Delaney’s to meet some people who were already well upon their way to purple elephant land themselves. I sauntered into said bar at, well I have no idea what time, we’ll say 11:30 for story’s sake. Friends were met, drinks were had, all was well. The bartender made it be clear that now was the time for last call. In honor of the bar’s daily closing one of the five people I was drinking with decided to order five shots of Fernet for our group, which the bartender lovingly lined up at the end of the bar for us. For those of you who know what Fernet is, you know this can’t end well. For those who don’t, order it next time. You’ll thank me. :) Being the youngest one in the group and considering I had been enjoying more than my share that evening, the chiding began… «Andy?! Pffft! Andy can’t hang with Fernet! Can you? Can you?» Well, me never being one to back down from a drinking challenge, I looked him in the eyes and simply said, «Oh I can’t can I?» I reached over, grabbed the shot of Fernet, pounded it, flipped the glass and slammed it on the bar. And the next one. And the next one.(At this point peoples’ jaws are agape) And the next one.(About now they began stepping away) And the next one.(Cheers and applauds break out) Upon completing this miraculous feat, I proclaimed in a slurred voice, «%&$# you all I’m out!!» I turned around walked out the door and promptly fell over. So all I can tell you is Delaney’s is a bar that serves Fernet. I don’t remember much else.
