Disappointing when you come in for a panini at 5:00pm on a Tuesday, and they tell you«we already cleaned the machine.» You shouldn’t be denying customers an hour before close. Sad because this was my new breakfast/café spot, but I won’t be returning.

Visited here in the middle of the day because had an hour to kill. Randomly chose this place, walked in, and found it very odd(mismatched décor, no central theme) but it was interesting to look at everything and take my pick of which chair or couch to sit at. There wasn’t a lot of people here when I arrived and stayed the same when I left about half an hour later. There was a party of two talking a little loudly in the back, a mother and child waiting on sandwiches, and few other customers scattered around the café. I ordered a breakfast bagel with ham, egg, and cheese on an onion bagel and a small hot chocolate. The breakfast bagel was very delicious, a little bit too much pepper(I didn’t mind it much), and was the perfect size for a small lunch. I was surprised by how many different bagels they had and their selection of treats from huge cookies to a variety of refrigerated drinks. The hot chocolate stayed extremely hot for an hour! By the time I tried it, it was not overly sweet(unlike what you would find at starbucks, for example). Overall, would definitely visit again if I was in the area! The lady working that day was very nice as well and was happy to change my order to a to-go order after asking.

I’m not a coffee person, so I got a chai and a cream filled chocolate cake. I can confirm that the chai was quite tasty, definitely above average. The chocolate cake was also super decadent and tasty. The prices were about average for what you’d expect in SF for this stuff…$ 8.50 total including tax and tip. The atmosphere is pretty great. It’s very spacious and the plans really help it feel less crowded. This would be a great«third place» when you need to get away. I give it 4 stars just because nothing sings to me about this place. It’s great and I’d come here again, but there’s no reason I’d be excited to do so.

Conveniently located on Geary a couple blocks away from USF, Cup and Cake is a quiet, cozy, and roomy café. In terms of drink selections, Cup and Cake is average with all the classics. But where this place shines is the tiny deli they have that cranks out some tasty breakfast items! I was pleasantly surprised to find the Lox bagel absolutely delicious. The bagel arrived cut in half, you could instantly smell the lox and the sharp smell of onions. The cream cheese was not overwhelming at all, just the perfect amount. I also found the alfalfa sprouts surprisingly original and they gave it that earthy taste. Everything came together with the capers closing down the show. I would highly suggest peeking into this underrated spot and giving it a try, I’m 200% sure you’ll be extremely satisfied from the atmosphere to the food and coffee.

Love this place to study, drink coffee/teas, eat sandwiches, meet up with friends, etc. They have lots of sitting area and plants. The front area has lots of windows that bring in natural light. I prefer coming here than the other two cafes near by– Fifty/Fifty and Earth’s Coffee. The couple, Jenny and Steve, are very nice and friendly.

I really like this place for studying! The seating options are varied and plentiful, they have lots of herbal teas and a couple gluten free cookie options and everyone that works here is really nice! It’s a calm atmosphere, great for focusing.

Have been going to Cup and Cake for about 10 years. Their Veggie sandwich is the very best I’ve ever had! Their coffee’s VERYGOOD, the owners«go the extra mile». Everything is fresh and tasty. Each of my friends I meet there say that what they order is the best!!! Very clean and easy to have private conversations.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s spacious and never very crowded, it’s probably the most affordable coffee in the city(unlike the other spot about a block away), friendly owners, good food(check out the Al Pollo sandwich), free WiFi, they take credit cards, relaxing environment. It makes me feel good to support an independent business who works hard to be as great as they are.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our turkey pannini with pesto which was quite large and shareable. We were visiting from Wisconsin and were glad to find a place as reasonable as those back in Milwaukee.

Nice place, excellent coffee, good food, fine service. Locally owned so big points there. I can say their coffee tastes different than Starbucks or Peets, and I like all three. Asking which is better is simply not fair, like asking whether Macallans, Bowmore, or Oban is better. It depends on the day you ask. You cannot go wrong here.

This cute, local place has fabulous sandwiches, bagels and coffees. Ambiance is what makes the place… there are lots of cozy couches and good sized tables perfect for chatting with a friend or bringing your laptop. Quiet and the staff is friendly. My go-to spot in the neighborhood.

Coffee sucks; super hot, burnt. Starbucks is better by far.

Was hesitant when I walked in but the menu looked current and the pasteries seemed fresh so we decided to stay. Their Americano and Lattes are good. I like the fact that it’s quiet inside and yet you can sit and watch the cars and people outside.

The food is solid as is the Coffee, but the reason for 5 stars is that there is no better coffee shop to study, work, etc. Parking is easy to find, there is a lot of open space, free wi-fi, and anytime I need to get something done this is the place to go.

I go there often to work. The place is cosy and comfy, I feel good there. The service is good, they are always smiling and fun. I usually take breakfast there and it is good: the elvis bagel makes me crazy. The location is great: at in interesection with huge windows, it is a great pleasure to work in the sun. CONS: the coffee is always super hot and you might burn your lips. But like always. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to work/study outside from home but bring your headphone on saturday afternoon: there is this noisy group of people who tchat really loudly.
