Before I get too far in this review, I need to remind myself to not go to Pier 39 during a major event. I think I should check my calendar bit more as to what’s crankin in San Francisco on my visits. With that being said… Cool Tree Lighting Ceremony, not so cool maze of people just to even set foot on Pier 39. Now to get this review going… I first ask this question. «Do you have a sweet tooth?» If your answer is «Yes» then you would like Crabcakes and Sweets. I find it a bit funny a place with such a name offers only one dish that contains. Crabcakes. Good thing I wasn’t in the mood for Crabcakes and wanted something a bit different. They have a pretty straight forward menu, Fish and Chips. Chicken Nuggets and Fries, Clam Chowder Bowls, yadda yadda. Pretty much what you would expect from the smaller eateries on pier 39. But what sets this place apart from the rest is location and prices. Crabcakes and Sweets sits on the very back end of pier 39, to be honest, its almost missed if you’re going about your day and enjoying most of the other sites and spectacles that be going on. It sits across the way from the sports bar and arcade and right next to a shop that sells asian themed merchandise. The kiosk of sorts that its located is painted yellow, and the sign is a stylized«Crab» and it says the name of the business on it. They have the typical default pictures plastured of different food offerings, and they have a basic menu and a more detailed menu telling you what they have here. On this visit I had the Chicken Wing and Fries meal($ 8.95) First off, the prices here are pretty good on most of their fair. Anywhere between $ 1 — $ 3 cheaper than the competition around. But is the food up to par you say… I wasn’t blown away by what I had gotten and to be honest… wish I had selected another item. For eaters of chicken wings, I think usually between 6 –10 is acceptable, but in a combo no less than 5 or 6 right? Not here, you get 4 wings. And the female clerk said it was($ 1.50) per extra two pieces… umm no I will be fine with just the four wings and like 9 friench fries I had in my tray. My wings were small, like they seemed like theh came from pigeons or cornish hens rather than chicken. They were over fried and tasted more like jerky than a nice hot crispy wing. My nine or so friench fries were tasty though. The watered down catsup totally wasn’t a compliment to the fries at all, you can tell the owner he/she tired to strech the condiments and failed. Even the very small dipping cup of ranch was watered down. The Sweets seemed to be the biggest seller here though. Funnel Cakes and Churros seemed to be flyinh out the window here, the clerk couldn’t make them fast enough. This place had Churros in Regular, Custard Filled or Caramel Filled. The Funnel Cakes were pretty standared, but had assorted toppings that ranged from whipped cream and powered sugar to Chocolate Sauce and Strawberry Topping ect. If this shop quit selling other dishes and just did sweets, I feel the owners would still have something here. In conclusion, this place brings the term«You get what you pay for» to a prospective. Although cheaper, sometimes that doesn’t always mean better. Would I easy here again… to be honest, I may. I will admit, the pier was full of people this day. And in the defense of the only clerk, she had her hands full doing everything by herself. So this place deserves another shot perhaps, but, It will not be on my next visit that’s forsure. I didn’t mind the($ 2.50) for my soda. I just did mind the fact I payed($ 12.45) for such a disappointing experience. But my review is my own. Oh. And seating is very limited here… only 2 tables with 2 chairs a piece. So be prepared to find seating on a busy day. As always Unilocal your own experience.

DON’T…DO.IT! May be a convenient stop while walking the pier but finding several bathrooms to hit up 30 minutes later won’t be! Out of my party of 6, no one finished their food. Kinda hard to mess up a hot dog and corn dog but this place does it pretty well. My crab cake had more oil than crab. Why I continued to eat it? I do not know but I paid for it dearly later in the day. My son asked later… why is it we decided to eat in the dirtiest, darkest corner of S. F again? Save yourself a stomach ache and several rolls of bathroom tissue by avoiding this place like the plague!

Prices are way high for what you get. Seriously $ 8 for 8 pieces of calamari and fries. We stopped here because we were starving and needed quick food, we should have walked a little further to the Grotto. There were 6 of us and one person ordered before all of us. By the look of his popcorn chicken we should have just left but we gave it a shot. The lady before me had a problem with her ordered and ended up canceling my brothers transaction instead of the ladies. She had to recharge his credit card for his order. The clam chowder tasted like heated Campbell’s soup. It was super watery, but at least the bread was fresh. The popcorn chicken was very salty. Hotdog was not cooked all the way through. My hot chocolate tasted like a heated bar of chocolate mixed with milk. I paid 3.75 for 8oz. Not sure how the have so many stars, maybe for their churros and funnel cakes. Either way the prices are still way too high for what you get

This is a little take out window with two tables at the end of Pier 39. My group was craving diet cokes, French fries and a place to sit so this fit the bill. On a whim we ordered funnel cake and I am glad we did because it was delicious. The four of us attached that funnel cake like seagulls on leftover sour dough bread. The fries were average but it cured my Mom’s craving which was good enough to me. Service was fine and the girl working the soda machine didn’t ask any questions when my sis order a diet coke with a squirt of root beer. This was a good pit stop for snacks but not a destination for a meal.

**Ordered** — $ 9.19 Funnel cake with the works — It had whip cream, strawberries, and ice cream on top. The funnel cake was crispy and perfectly cooked. It was probably one of the best funnel cakes I’ve had. However, the ice cream was a bit over frozen. **Recommendations** — If you’re looking for a good funnel cake, you’ve found the place.

My husband and I have been going to this place for years. And after our most recent visit, I started wondering if our visits had more to do with nostalgia than with quality. The menu is fairly basic. Fried _____and fries, clam chowder, crab cakes, and of course, funnel cakes. The fried _____to fries ratio has decreased over the years, with it being more of a 30⁄70 split. It’s as if you ordered fries with a side of fried ______. More recently, we ordered fried calamari and fries; fries were cooked well but the breading from the calamari didn’t adhere well. It was a bit of a hot mess. From what I recall, the funnel cakes were decent-sized and tasted okay. Although I sincerely hope they use two different fryers for the seafood than for the sweets. I can only imagine the results of using a combined fryer. bleh… The location on the pier is nice, nestled in the back corner near the stage area and a door to the sea lions.

First time in San Francisco, wanted to try a bit of everything here and there. Then me and my husband came across this place. Ordered the«carb cake» crab cake and fries and a soda. So we got our drink took a sip of it was so flat so my husband says to the lady if we could get a different soda because the syrup went bad and she had an attitude about it. Intead of saying im sorry about that which other one would you like she says«WELL I JUSTCHANGEDITSOITSNOT» so we brushed it off said lets not let her ruin our day. And then we get our food my husband crab cake was cold like if they buy them frozen and just warm it up in the microwave. my husband couldnt eat another bite. My husband got sick the next day throwing up. Paid $ 10 for shitty service and shitty food. WILLNOTBEBACK. I wish I could not give a star at all. Love SANFRANCISCO but not this place.

Crabcakes and funnel cakes — what a strange combination. But being a fatty, I had to get both!(Sidenote: There’s also garlic fries, but I’m not that much of a fatty.) The Crabcakes($ 8 with fries) had an unexpected curry taste with more breaded filler than crab meat. Being slightly more expensive than other places on Pier 39, I’d recommend going to the dedicated seafood places instead. The Funnel Cake($ 6 + extras) was a bit smaller at six inches, but it was hot and freshly fried — not undercooked, over-fried, or sitting around under a heat lamp. It came with powdered sugar, but you had to pay an extra $ 1 for strawberries(canned), chocolate syrup, or ice cream. It’s a welcome treat at the end of Pier 39 after resisting the temptation of all the other sweets like waffle cones, crepes, and candy. :)

I come to this establishment and see that they sell crab cakes. I order one and an order of fish and chips. It came out with 1 crabcake and the fish and chips were over cooked, thickly battered, and dry. The fish you can tell was flash fried straight from the freezer so it was dry and gritty. A place that has crab cake as a name should master the crab cakes, but instead they are known for their funnel cake. So if you go, i would recommend just the funnel cakes and that is it.

THEY’VEGOTFUNNELCAKES!!! For $ 6, you get deep fried dough topped with confectioners sugar. SOOOGOOD!!! Maybe I was hungry, maybe it was just good. I think it was JUSTGOOD. For 2 people, it was good enough, I don’t think I can eat an entire funnel cake on my own. I think I could, but I choose not to.

I passed by this place a few days ago and was suprised to see that they sell funnel cake because it’s kind of random to sell it here and I’ve only seen them sold at amusement parks. I immediately got a funnel cake with sugar and chocolate syrup. The funnel cake was very soft and yummy. I thought it would be super sweet but it wasn’t. it was just a tad bit too sweet. The girl seem to put just the right amount of topping. I’m glad she didn’t flood it with toppings because I don’t want diabetes. The funnel cake here was better than the one I had at Great America for sure.

This place is nestled inside Pier 39 in the shadows. What caught my eye is when I saw the word funnel cake. Normally I only see funnel cake at amusement parks, so it was time to taste one here. By far this is the best funnel cake I had! It was light fluffy and not greasy! They make it very fast and there was no hard edges. Normally the inside is soft and the outside is over done. Not at this place. They pur just enough fruit topping, though at times it can me too much since it is fairly sweet. This is a nice treat for anyone who enjoys sweets.
