I joined Unilocal just to be able to post a review for this place– I like it that much. great place for a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee. Owners were friendly and kind when I revised my order. Nice relaxed atmosphere with books and wifi. Perfect Starbucks alternative. Happy to have a local place like this near where we stayed(Geary Parkway hotel.)

Nice little place with free wi-fi and comfy loungey soft chairs and little tables. We needed a snack and saw this little coffee and sandwich shop. Got some toasted bagels and cream cheese(very fresh) and a latte. Friendly family who said they had been there 4 weeks(new owners). Would love to see them do well. Would visit more if I lived closer.

Had a wonderful, heart sandwich and a delicious latte. Very clean, friendly service. Free wifi! The place is definitely a local shop owner operation.

I love this place! I come almost every day and the girls who work at the front are very friendly. Excellent meat and coffee! They carry Boar’s Head products and make everything fresh.

I intended to go the Russian deli next door, but they don’t make sandwiches. I don’t know if the two are related but the Café has an outstanding selection of sandwiches. I got the chicken remoulade which was filled with vegetables and meat and covered in melted cheese. Healthy and tasty! What a great find!

The coffee break is definitely a hidden gem in the inner richmond of SF. It’s likely I would have never found it if I wouldn’t have moved rather close to it. Yes, they have great coffee. From iced to lattes, and everything in between, I’ve never been disappointed. But further from that, they have AMAZING sandwiches. Lou’s(in the outer richmond) is famous for their sandwiches, sauces and breads — but I rival to say Coffee Break offers sandwiches that are just a good, if not better. My favorite is the chicken sandwich remoulade, except I sub out the remoulade sauce with their special sauce. They also recently introduced several breakfast sandwiches, which are equally is good. Especially for a Saturday morning hang over. Note that they close early, so lunch is the best time to hit up this spot.

While this place has a good veggie sandwich and I like their coffee, they have the slowest service ever. It takes them 10 – 15 minutes to make a sandwich… If you have time to spare, then come here.

At first I liked everything about this place except the person running it. My lady and I walked in and looked at the menu for a couple minutes. When we started to order, the woman behind the counter looked pained(pained!) that we were ordering sandwiches. I asked if she had sourdough bread, and she looked right past me to my right and stared HARD at the clock on the wall. «We close at 4. Are you staying to eat?» Christ, not in the same room as you. We got our sandwiches to go.(She gave the same treatment to the next customers, too) While we waited, I went to the restroom. It was clean enough, but the storage closet door inside had been left open(there was nothing in the trash can, so I can only assume the worker was the last one in there(cleaning it)). Looking at the big rolly mop bucket and utility sink wasn’t great, but whatever, the place looked well maintained. The rest of the venue was charming, too. We liked the vibe of the place aside from the pained worker. We got our sandwiches and took off on foot. I had the veggie special. It was a delight! Chewy sourdough bread and lots of fresh veggies. Yum. My lady got a turkey sandwich with a bunch of extras – a solid sandwich – and an iced matcha green latte. Neither of us liked the latte. It was sweet, too sweet, lingeringly bad-sweet like cake batter or flowery something or other; we couldn’t place what had gone into it, it was just bad. My lady described it well: «It tastes wrong.» One star for each good sandwich. And a half star for the nice ambiance inside. But still a two-star joint.

This place is HEAVEN sent… They make their sandwiches with love and happiness lol… But seriously I was just a little skeptical with the time frame it took to receive my sandwich but I now see that it takes time for greatness haha… For them to have to compete with a long time famous SF restaurant like Boudin, across the street, I see why they have lasted so long. I would def recommend them breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I moved to Inner Richmond from out of town, knowing no one and no places for coffee. The first time I went in, she recommended some restaurants in the area, explained some San Francisco geography to me, and was extremely friendly. The prices are a bit more than I’m used to, coming from Seattle, but I’ve come to see they’re normal for this area. The coffee is pretty good, too, but you should really come for the convenient location and free wifi.

Nice little coffee shop… Free wifi, quiet and reasonable coffee. Hard to find a coffee shop in this area, but finally found this one and can chill with a latte and work on my computer.

Well they have coffee I guess. The coffee wasn’t bad but only half as good as your local Starbucks so don’t come for the coffee. I did see a few people on the Wi-Fi so if you need to get out of the closet that you pay $ 3,000 a month for then you might as well come here. For me there is no need to come back. Too bad because this is the closest place to get coffee by my $ 3,000 closet.

Been for a visit twice and great experiences both times! My Cranberry Orange Turkey Sandwich was so good the first time that upon our next visit my boyfriend and I both ordered it! Sweet, tangy and bursting with flavour! The sandwiches, an iced coffee, and a bottled Orangina came to about $ 20– very reasonable and a full meal! The place is small and tidy with wooden chairs and tables and a couple comfy armchairs. The attendants both times super friendly and speak fluent English to me And Russian to my boyfriend.

Since I moved to the Inner Richmond this place has become my go-to neighborhood café. It’s close to my house and feels welcoming. The staff always remembers me and I usually have no problem getting a table and using the wifi. In the early AM the pastries are fresh out of the oven and delicious. The coffee and espresso is very good,(average for San Francisco). The sandwiches menu is quite interesting. Try the Kim-chi Reuben. They had a Russian style beet soup that was filling and healthy if you’re feeling under the weather. The only cons I can say is sometimes it is understaffed. Otherwise, great neighborhood café.

Breaking orange. Everyone is talking about Breaking Bad: Everyone should be talking about Coffee Break’s cranberry orange turkey sandwich. Impressive amount of deli meat between a huge roll coated with the aforementioned sauce. It’s sweet. It’s unique. It’s fantastic. Caffeine is in the name and caffeine should be part of the experience. Triple shot Americano with sugar free vanilla for $ 4. Dust with cinnamon. Enjoy. Service broke good. Sunday staff was friendly and welcoming. Made every effort to ensure the food and drink were worthwhile. They most certainly were. Fast and free WiFi available on the side. Perhaps not the absolute best but one that certainly knocks on the door of hunger:

Small coffee shop with tables all around. Selection of coffees, juices(not fresh) and pastries. They also do bagels. No music no atmosphere.

Pretty decent coffee shop. There are 4 kinds of drip coffee that they offer: decaf, hazelnut(medium roast), medium-dark roast and dark roast. The girl in the morning is nice, friendly, and always has a smile on her face even when I’m standing there figuring out what to get. Clean coffee shop and has more juices than other coffee shops that just have apple juice and coffee.

I love this place, it is a great place to eat and the people are super nice! The coffee is great(and I drink a lot of coffee) and it is always very easy for me to get work done here. There are 2 other coffee places between here and my house but I always come here because they remember my name and treat me great. I highly recommend!

FREEWI-FI If you’re in the area and looking for a quick stop-off to check e-mail or do some studying, you should consider coming here. Not too crowded and enough table space for a party of 2. There was 3 of us and the owner was kind enough to let us join the tables together. Prices are OK and the drinks are equally as OK. Nothing too fancy but would consider coming back here any time I needed to have a group meet session/study session. There’s also usually parking nearby without meter but always meter parking available if that is your last option.

I’ve been going here for over a year. And they never disappoint! Their hot chocolate, bagels, sandwiches are definitely good! Hot chocolate definitely very favorable, and good! Fresh hot coco! Bagels. Toasted, cream cheese. A little pricey, 2.25 $! But so worth it. The cream cheese is very creamy and good, goes great with the crunchy toasted bagel. Their sandwiches are pretty cheap, I’ve only tried tuna on whole grain, comes very fresh, with olives and pickles and jalapeños too. A classic, here it is!
