The staff was so rude, actually laughing at me when I asked for gluten free bread even though there is a sign at the register boasting that they have it and then he charged me fifty cents for ice water.

I’m making an effort to explore more local cafes, and Café La Flore was first on my list. All the reviews were so positive, so I finally made my way there today. When I walked up to the café, I was confused because there were a lot of people standing inside right by the door. When I walked in, they were all watching soccer on TV haha For a moment, I thought the café had been replaced by a bar and Unilocal wasn’t up to date. Anyway, the café is a lot smaller than I imagined but still a good size. They have tables along the walls and a few in the middle next to the stand where you can toss your trash and get straws and what not. Plenty of outlets around, but might suck if your charging cable is short cause some are a reach. All the tables, including the outside seating, are small round tables that will fit your computer along with a plate of food if you so choose to order food. I had the Aloha smoothie, which had strawberries, bananas and pineapples, for somewhere around $ 5 and it was delicious! More watery than chunky, but tasted great. I also had the Cesar salad($ 7 and change I think) and oh man, they’re super light-handed with the dressing. When they first gave me the salad, I thought they forgot the dressing! But upon closer examination I found that there was dressing, just very little of it. I didn’t mind since it’s healthier(I guess haha). The salad was HUGE, like Cheesecake Factory portion sizes! Lettuce was fresh, tons of Parmesan, and the croutons seemed homemade. Since there were a bunch of dudes watching soccer, it was a tad loud but nothing earbuds didn’t fix. The soccer wants weren’t rowdy, so no biggie to me. I imagine it’s quieter on non-soccer days haha The staff was super nice and the overall environment was super mellow, especially after the soccer fans left. It seems that they only play Spanish music, so I definitely recommend headphones if that’s not your thing.

I’ve been here twice. Last time was yesterday morning with my son. My first experience was a couple of years ago and from that experience, I never really found a reason to come back here. Yet I was surprised this place has good reviews on Unilocal so I decided to come back yesterday. I ordered their café con leche and open face egg bacon cheese muffin. Coffee was mediocre, really mediocre. I didn’t even finish it. The muffin had lots of eggs which was good, cheese and super thin bacon that are soggy. No salt or pepper so it was really bland. Even my 15-month old son didn’t want to eat the egg and he eats everything. I’ve given this place a chance and didn’t redeem itself so probably won’t come back to this place.

Food is great although a bit pricy for what it is. But then again, the portions are more generous than most SF places. The service is great too, although it can be slow at peak hours. Pros: –French pressed coffee –Fresh squeezed orange juice –Large menu

I thought the sandwich(North Beach) was good. It came with a side – your choice of side salad or soup. Got the chicken tortilla which was really mediocre. No tortillas or chicken in it. Also got the Greek Salad, which brought down the score(no feta just like 4 little teaspoons of what seemed to me to be goat cheese). It wasn’t very special to say the least. Vibe was fine. I might be back for a sandwich.

This is not the poshest place, but it has such a nice vibe. When you walk in, and there are regulars enjoying the breakfast and coffee, and chatting with the people running the place, and everyone is smiling, you know you’re in a good spot. I got the EBTC on gluten free toast, and I was pretty please. If there’s a tweak to it, I would say add a touch more salt & pepper, but I also could do that myself, so no real issues. Caffe latte also above average and good value at that price.

Very surprised to see good reviews for this café. Extremely bad service. Very rude staff. The vibe is totally off. I would not waste my time going here. There are much better cafes around. I cannot imagine how bad the food would be when it is made by a staff that clearly hate what they are doing.

Our experience here was pleasant. Needed a place to study with wifi and this place delivered. There were many tables and seats open and I noticed they had power outlets too. It does get a little cold since the door stays open, but traveling the city you always bring a jacket so it doesn’t bother me too much anyway. I liked the music playing too! It was a mix between American pop/EDM/Spanish tunes. Drinks: Large white chocolate mocha — hit the spot! Didn’t try anything else, so can’t say much about the food. Would recommend? Yes, if you’re in need of a quaint study spot with wifi around here. Open until 8pm, which is a little later than cafes around the area.

Nice place to hang for a while while discussing investments and next steps :). Parking has not been a problem during the times I was there which is a nice bonus! I had a soy cappuccino along with a muffin and both were just fine.

Excellent! My wife and I were looking for an informal, but tasty breakfast spot on our way out of town on Sunday. Conveniently off of Park Presidio, we were pleasantly surprised to find parking right out front. I ordered a breakfast burrito and my wife ordered a small breakfast sandwich. Pros: The taste was delicious and everything was fresh. The burrito came with a drizzling of spicy sauce on the side, a delectable addition. Prices were reasonable. Service was fast. Cons: The place smelled badly like cleaning agent, though we visited them earlier in the morning, so maybe they’d just cleaned. Portions were petite, which on this occasion was fine, but it wouldn’t have satisfied me had I been much hungrier. The ambiance was hardly French, which is hilarious coming from a place called Café La Flore. The real Café De Flore is in Paris(been there, the snob I am) and I an assure you they share exactly nothing in common aside from the fact that they both serve coffee.

I ordered a small vanilla latte. I paid the guy(who I’m pretty sure is the owner) with a 20 and he gave me back 1.35. I’m no mathematician but I knew I should be getting more $$ back! When I tried to explain this, he told me I paid with a 5. I tell him no I stopped at an ATM right before this and took out 60 and just paid with one of the twenty dollar bills. HETHENLIESTOMEANDTELLSMETHATISN’T POSSIBLEBECAUSEHEHASNOTWENTIESINHISREGISTER. I asked him to show me his register but he refused to do it. AREYOUKIDDINGME!!! Am I getting Punk’d and filmed??? I will never come back here especially since this rude ass dude is the owner. Don’t worry guys I got my money back thanks to the nice lady who made my latte and overheard.

This place gets it. I live right down the street and come here all the time for breakfast sandwiches, smoothies, salads, lunch sandwiches, and lattes. Everything is made fresh right when you order it, which is surprising for the small size of this café. BUT the real reason I give 5 stars is because their staff is incredibly friendly. They make me happy just going in. While I was in college and studying every so often here, they would always ask how school was, etc. and still ask how I am. Love it. Great neighborhood spot and will forever enjoy to supporting these awesome, friendly people.

Man I hate to be the burden of bad news but really guys? 4 and a half stars!!! This place is your average lunch spot. We came for a late breakfast because the breakfast burrito looked good but it ended at 12pm(which was not my main complaint because I get it, there is only one guy working back in the«kitchen», which is a microwave over oven type deal) Ordered the vegetable sandwich on gluten free bread – which they did not charge me extra, but seriously came out to be the size of my palm. They need to serve double the sandwich, c’mon guys. Overall this place is a place to get coffee, hopefully score an ordinary breakfast, and do computer work or hang. Most definitely not worth such a high rating.

I have to admit I greatly underestimated the lure of this compact café out in the Richmond. I was taking my Toyota(predictable, right?) for its regular servicing on Geary, so I had an hour or so to find some breakfast early one warm Saturday morning. My car and I have been somewhat estranged(irreconcilable differences), so it was time to spiff up its innards to bring back that new-car smell. While the crew was rotating its tires and checking its oil, I stumbled onto this place when I saw the wait for a table at Eats. I actually figured I’d get a latte and call it a morning, but the breakfast sandwich menu appealed to me. I decided on the $ 4.75 Veggie Breakfast Sandwich which was artfully presented with an open-face English muffin covered in a firm poached egg, spinach and melted provolone with a drizzle of a light tomato sauce(photo: ). For the reasonable price, it was delicious probably because they didn’t try to cover it in a gloopy hollandaise. A small $ 3.35 Vanilla Latte(photo: ) completed the picture before returning for a reconciliation with my Toyota. The place fills up quickly, but it never seemed that unbearable even if a couple of laptoppers decided to take permanent residence there. FOOD — 4 stars… a simple veggie egg sandwich was an ideal starter for the day AMBIANCE — 3 stars… not much but tables, WiFi and caffeine supplies SERVICE — 3.5 stars… prompt TOTAL — 4 stars… a small jewel in a neighborhood far, far away

Food: Always nom nom nom Menu: You can have whatever you like Vibe: Bob Marley tunes, soccer matches on TV& inviting to all Good for: eating, catching up with friends, laptop time & hangover recoveries(seriously, that fresh O.J. is the cure you’ve been looking for) Owner/Employees: The best part. It’s not always easy to make personal connections in a big city, but it’s always easy at Café la Flore. Between that and the food, this is Inner Richmond locals spot.

The people who work here are very sweet. I’ve gotten a few different drinks from here, but my favorite was a dirty iced chat– an iced chai with a shot of espresso. Very laid back vibes. Plus the tables outside are nice when the sun actually makes an appearance :) Update: Best breakfast burritos ever!

Before I write about this place, let me share with you an anecdote from our visit. While we were eating, we were watching some of the people around us. The woman at the table next to us was idly waiting for her order. When her meal came out and she took her first glance at the food, her mouth immediately broke out into a smile. That’s kinda the feeling I had about this place too. We were looking for a café to grab a sandwich and happened upon this place. First impressions were that yes, it was a really small café, perfect for coming with you and one or two other people. However, they offer a very large selection of food from sandwiches to salads to breakfast items as well. We really like the roasted turkey sandwich. I thought the ciabatta bread it came on was really good, very soft and light compared to other ones I’ve had. It came with a side salad, and the mixed greens salad was really nice with raisins and nuts topping it. Definitely enjoyed my visit here. Our wait wasn’t too bad(10 – 15 minutes for our two sandwiches) but maybe not the place to go if you’re in a rush.

There are few things that frustrate me more than paying for poor service combined with mediocre food. I’ve gone here a few times before and my experience was always awesome. The guy who I’m assuming is the owner was always really friendly and greeted everyone with a genuine smile. I also thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast burrito and Greek yogurt with granola and fruit and my bf loved his hummus bagel sandwich. Second time having a meal here was not so great. I came last Sunday to do some work and have lunch, but it didn’t turn out to be as productive as I expected. The music was too loud and service sucked. Probably because the friendly guy wasn’t working. They forgot about my sandwich order and I had to remind them after over half an hour of waiting… and then they still got part of my order wrong(gave me Caesar instead of greens for my salad). I ordered the roasted chicken sandwich, which was OK. The chicken was a little bland and didn’t seem so fresh, but the greens salad was good.
