So for warning that«house marinated» olives at this place means simple green olives with olive oil poured on them. Nuts was a day old mix. Seriously skip this bar and head to. Drinks are mediocre. Waitress was great and service was friendly but overall 1 star for food and drinks. Head to Topsys fun house for amazing drinks.

Great bar to people watch coming and going from the hotel. Drinks are expensive — 14 bucks each for a Moscow mule & a glass of house cab. But I have to say the Moscow mule was pretty damn good. Had to been made with fresh ginger. Most(not all) of the chairs have low backs so you aren’t going to sit back much to enjoy the drink but it does promote conversation. All and all no problems. If you want to get drunk on the cheap this isn’t the place but if you want to relax and have a cool cocktail and do some people watching this is as good as any.

The setting is classy. It is MM.(Michael Mina) All spa colors & cush seating. But, I dunno… I’ve been a couple of times & it doesn’t beg for repeating. If you go when it’s prime time & packed just forget about service being efficient. I recommend forgoing wait service altogether & ordering yourself at the bar. And while I’d like to blame the hotel location for the eclectic clientele, I’m not sure that that’s what it is. Certain establishments attract certain people more than others. I feel the same way about The Redwood Room @ The Clift. It’s certainly an attractive space, but there’s something about the whole experience that doesn’t quite sit well. Like a stolen mink coat. It’s mink, so it’s luxurious. But it’s not on the up & up. That’s how I feel here. Like a potential target for predators I guess. Throw in the subpar service & the impersonal vibe & you’ve got a venue that doesn’t warrant regular visits. There’s also the fact that I can just traipse across the lobby right on over to Bourbon Steak, which is truly a fantastic restaurant w a bar that is far superior to this one. So why come here? You’re waiting for your reservation @ Bourbon Steak, & their bar seating is taken, or you’re a big MM fan & you haven’t been yet. Props for a quality cocktail program & access to some small, stellar MM dishes. 3 stars.

Tick-tock, tick-tock My girlfriends and I stayed at the Westin for the weekend. We were going to enjoy complimentary drinks at the bar before going out on a night on the town. Boy was I disappointed. I had the worse tequila sunrise of my life. Both my friend and I ordered the same drink. We were really excited to get our drinks and thought they were going to be amazing because they were making the OJ freshly squeezed in front of us. We took a sip and couldn’t bare the taste. Our thoughts were that maybe the type of grenadine they used was bad or just tasted very bad. But goodness, we couldn’t not even finish our drinks and had to leave them there. I had never had such an awful drink like that in my life. Clock bar, time ran out, get it together.

I arrived around six on a Wednesday evening. The cocktail I ordered, lawless gentlemen, was excellent with its unique smoky flavor. However, several things were just off. 1. Despite not being overly crowded, the bar is a excessively loud to the point that you can barely listen or talk without yelling to your date. 2. The seating was uncomfortable, you have a choice of very tiny chairs or a sofa. 3. I got the impression that our server was not happy that we only ordered one drink a piece but talked for an hour or two, At one point she took my unfinished drink away without asking, although to her credit she brought it back when I mentioned it to her. Maybe part of the problem was we were 2 people seated at a table for 4 but the place has self-seating and I didn’t see any smaller tables. If you don’t mind of the noise, come with a larger group of heavy drinkers, and love fancy cocktails this place might be for you.

Not a bad higher end place to hang out at Union Square. The drinks were top-notch! I ordered the margarita among others and they were all enjoyable! The dim, cozy, and romantic atmosphere, you will not be disappointed. However, I did not prefer the person that waited on us. She was very helpful and did her job but came across snobby and short. This is merely the reason why I’m giving this place 3 stars. Other than that, we enjoyed our time and would recommend to others. Just go early because it gets packed up quickly and the seats are limited.

The bar is nicely furnished. The service competent. The pricing affordable. The bar is loud and the hard finishes bounce the sound level. Conversations are not easily made and you want to leave before you finish your drink If your waiting for someone, go across the lobby and into the Restsurant bar. Everything the prior reviews stated but glossed over.

You will have to fight a crowd. But if you can catch a good window and get a spot at the bar or a seat in the lounge, this is a great place to hang near Union Square. They have a lot of fun cocktails and a great selection for the purist. I was having a little trouble deciding, but the bar tendress stopped what she was doing to help guide me to the right scotch. She even called someone with a little more expertise over to make sure I was getting the right info. They were extremely helpful and friendly even though they were swamped with fancy drink orders. It was an experience I will never forget. The classy and intimate atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for in a night in the city.

A classic delight, but getting a seat at the bar is pretty difficult. While costly the cocktails are artfully made and with the highest quality ingredients. Be sure to read the menu carefully as I found the best drinks were described upside down and in red. Cute idea to create interest. Wonderful staff. I had the«Want To Get Away» which despite it’s pink feminine look, knocked me on my ass.

Sure, drinks are expensive and it can get crowded. But Clock bar makes good cocktails and I really do love the vibe of this place. Swanky, sexy and a little modern.(You know, with the digital clock and times displaying from different countries.) Classic cocktails($ 14 each): *Corpse reviver No2: gin, cointreau, lillet, lemon, absinthe rinse *Old fashioned: bourbon, bitters, orange, soda, simple *Manhattan: rye, sweet vermouth, bitters I got the Corpse reviver No2. This was exactly what I needed from an after dinner drink. Light and refreshingly. I was afraid this may be a little stronger than what I was looking for, but it was just right. There’s also a little whimsy to this bar. Make sure to turn over your coasters and read the tricks on the back. I found them incredibly entertaining. If you’ve had enough to drink, maybe even try one out while you’re here. *wink wink* The cocktails can be on the pricier side, but there’s something I love about this place. Maybe it’s the ambiance, but most importantly they make a mean drink!

The perfect place to relax after an afternoon of shopping is the Clock Bar. A sophisticated environment and fun cocktails! My only suggestion is that food be available when the bar opens at 4pm instead of having to wait until 5pm for a bowl of mixed nuts to nibble on with our libations.

We came to the clock bar to hear try the famed chartreuse Swizzle, which we had heard magical things about. The drink stood the test, but the bar did not. The bottom line is, definitely get the Swizzle if you are here, but if you can go somewhere else, then check out the Burrit room. More delicious, more inviting, and more affordable. The clock bar is one of those places that is designed to make you feel inadequate. It’s a little awkward. Do I seat myself? This is still unclear to me. We did notice that the tables got waitress service, another question that we had. We finally found one empty bar stool. And then we were promptly ignored. We had to flag down a bartender, perhaps because we didn’t look like we were made of money, like most of the other patrons did. When we are ordered to one drink for two people(we were pacing ourselves), the bartender was visibly annoyed. But the folks next to us were quite outgoing, and we made some good friends commiserating over how they refused to change the channel to the Notre Dame game.

The drinks are great and the bar itself is nice. The crowd however, is a weird mix of tourists, hotel guests, and locals which makes for interesting people watching. If you can get past the crowd, this is actually a nice place to sit and have a drink.

I’ve passed by this bar for six months and have always found it to be closed –Every. Single. Time. — leaving me to wonder if they are even open for business ever. Well, the day finally came when its dark, heavy doors opened. I steadfastly made my way in eager to see what the hell all this mystery was about. Deep, red, sexy lighting throughout the bar along with tea lights on each cocktail table help you see your way through this cave of a lounge. It’s really pretty private and serves as a perfect backdrop for intimate conversation or romantic encounter. It is in a hotel. In SF. Totally convenient. Their cocktail menu is extensive and stocked well with spirits, signature cocktails and top shelf liquors and wines. Beer not so much. As an avid beer drinker and absolute lover of beer, they did not offer a selection that satisfied my palate. I still went with their bottled IPA. No beer on tap if you read my tip too. Munchies aren’t offered until 5pm, which is a little inconvenient if you were planning on snacking. There wasn’t much either to choose from on their menu. So if the Hungry Hippo in you is on the prowl and this place is the only place open — Just Pass Go! You will be disappointed and will leave still with that Hungry Hippo Diva in you unless you have reservations at the Michael Mina restaurant directly across from Clock Bar. Then, by all means, grab a drink and chill. Knowing me, I’d likely make my way back in here just for the convenience and because I love the Westin Hotel(it’s located inside the Westin, on the first floor), usually with its doors closed.

This is a swanky little hotel bar off of Union Square. I suggest anyone in Union Square area stop in and get a Chartreuse Swizzle from the Clock Bar. Sit back, relax, hide from the throngs of tourists and enjoy a great cocktail invented in San Francisco.

I just checked my bank statement and this b**ch of a server decided to add $ 3 to her tip without my consent! She didn’t even deserve a $ 1 tip to be honest. She was rude, slow, and had awful fashion sense. Her name is HOLLY. My tab was $ 28 and I tipped her $ 5 and SIGNED for $ 33.00 even, and now I checked my bank statement and this bar decided to charge me $ 36! I’m not even mad about the $ 3 she added to her tip, it’s only $ 3. But it’s more of the principal behind it. I’ve never experienced such a tacky and unprofessional move like that. If this employee stole $ 3 from me, I can’t even imagine how many more patrons she has been stealing from. Also, the service was terrible. Holly kept rushing my friend and I to order after barely sitting down for less than a minute. Then she realized that we didn’t even have menus. Then we proceeded to ask her what she recommends and what her favorite drinks are and she told us that the descriptions are on the menu. Clearly she was either lazy or had no knowledge. I wouldn’t recommend this bar to anyone. There are so many more options to choose from around the area! The only good thing about this bar was the atmosphere and the drinks were actually descent and strong. The service and dishonesty of this bar killed it for me though. Remember to keep your receipts people to make sure this place doesn’t steal from you. Unless this dumb b**ch gets fired, there’s no way I’ll be back! AVOIDHOLLY!

The drinks are fairly over priced. They’re made strong and quite delicious, but they’re not amazing. The popcorn is also overpriced at 13 dollars per basket. I seem to always find my way back just for the popcorn. I think I’m okay with not coming back, as this place isn’t affordable for me. Just to get it out of the way, I’ve been here 6 times prior to this visit. This is inside the Westin St. Francis. Entering the bar, it has dim lighting, nice seating like a lounge and bar seating. I came on a wednesday afternoon and there were not too many people. Over half the bar was empty. You seat yourself. We were not being served initially, so we had to waive down a waitress. After placing our orders, we talked amongst ourselves. It wasn’t too loud, but I’ve been here before during a busy time, and it gets really really loud. Our drinks took some time to get here, and when putting my drink down, she knocked another drink on her tray and offered to make another one. However, we didn’t want to wait, so we said it’s fine. She took it away and put it in a new glass. Upon finishing my drink(I drink fast), she promptly came by and asked if I needed another drink, and I said no. When everybody else finished, she came by again and asked if we needed another round, and I said no, but we’d like the check please. We saw her make a few rounds. Then I saw just just standing at the register talking with the bartender. I waved her down again and she remembered that she forgot to bring us our check. If I’m going to pay 14 dollars for a small mixed drink, the service that comes with it better be damn good. I’m not sure of other places to get truffle popcorn, and yes, it’s super good… but won’t be coming back here for a while, and most likely not coming back to drink. The price per value here isn’t worth it. Probably my last time.
